Adrian Shaw's icy tone was like a hook, suddenly snagging the most sensitive nerves in Serena Stanton's brain.

Though the Grant and Shaw Families had old grudges, they always kept up perfect appearances, maintaining a facade of peace, never openly tearing each other apart.

Jasper Grant, cigarette between his fingers, looked at Adrian and smiled in his usual refined way: "President Shaw left home without your glasses, so it's no wonder you don't recognize my hair color. But when you're driving, you'd better make sure to see the traffic lights clearly."

Adrian gave a loose smile, the amusement never reaching his eyes: "Red-green color blindness isn't scary. What's scary is getting drunk and mistaking someone for another."

He always did as he pleased, impossibly arrogant, and right now his tone carried an unmistakable undercurrent.

Serena's nerves were strung tighter than bamboo, brittle and tense. Her heart raced, uncertain what Adrian Shaw truly intended.
