Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: Did What Shouldn't Be Done

The Boss gave the order, and the operation team immediately sprang into action.

Since Damian Sinclair originally had no interest in this plot of land and hadn't even had a bidding document drafted, the sudden command surprised everyone, but they quickly got to work.

A perfect bidding document was soon crafted.

Damian trusted the team he had cultivated and, after giving his assistant instructions, he went off to take a shower.

Assistant Lawson pulled out his phone and computer, remotely directing the elite team via video.

After the bidding document was completed, someone curiously asked, "Special Assistant Lawson, didn't the Boss previously say he wasn't interested in that plot in Lanview District? Why did he suddenly make a move?"

"Yeah. Could it be that the Lynch Group somehow offended the Boss, causing him to change his mind?"

"Just do your own work, don't go poking around unnecessarily," Assistant Lawson scolded the curious crowd gently.

However, everyone was loyal to Damian Sinclair, and they were quite familiar with each other; apart from fearing Damian himself, they had little trepidation about anyone else. Hearing Lawson's scolding, they didn't take it to heart and waved it off, saying, "Special Assistant Lawson, just give us a tiny hint, what made the Boss change his mind? It's the first time I've seen the Boss like this, I'm dying of curiosity."

"Exactly, exactly, Special Assistant Lawson, just tell us a bit."

Unable to resist their urging, Assistant Lawson hesitated for a moment before saying, "Apparently, the eldest daughter of The Lynch Family did something she shouldn't have and it angered the Boss. Alright, stop poking around about these matters; go do your own work."

Assistant Lawson arranged things a bit more before closing the video call. He was somewhat puzzled himself, after all, even if the Boss didn't like the Lynch family's eldest daughter, he had always been courteous due to the friendly relations between the two families. Even when she manipulated situations in the past, humiliating women who tried to get close to the Boss, he never intervened.

This time, what exactly did the Lynch family's eldest daughter do to anger the Boss? Could it be related to the girl he brought back from the hospital?

Assistant Lawson usually only worked in the company, and had it not been for the Boss temporarily abandoning his scheduled international video meeting and going abroad for investigations suddenly leaving, he wouldn't be here.

Being here for the first time, he was naturally unaware of the relationship between Damian Sinclair and Bella Acker. Earlier, he regarded Bella Acker as merely one of Damian's flings. But now, it seemed to be far more complicated.

Bella Acker took a shower, changed clothes, and applied makeup. Without even saying goodbye to Damian Sinclair, she hurriedly left the house.

She didn't want to trouble the villa's driver, and instinctively didn't want others to know about her relationship with Damian Sinclair, assuming that she'd be seen as lacking in ability, relying instead on nepotism, so she took a cab to the audition venue herself.

When Bella Acker arrived, many young women were already waiting in the hall.

Though this was a minor role that wasn't even as significant as the fifth supporting female character, the intense promotional campaign for 'Brocade River and Mountain,' along with the star-studded cast, made it a sensation. Even before filming started or the official cast announcement, it had already become popular online, with its Weibo topic trending over ten thousand times.

With such a show gaining traction even before airing, anyone could predict its immense popularity upon release. Hence, even for such a peripheral role, many film school graduates and various small-time actors came to compete.

Seeing the group of young women standing or sitting in the hall, Bella Acker took a deep breath to suppress the anxiety in her heart.
