How to Read This Guide
This guide brings together the rules and clarifications confirmed by the creator. The latest formulation takes precedence. Possibilities must not be turned into facts, and mysteries that the creator has not resolved remain open.
1. Work Identity and Central Concept
Official Arabic title: البطل المحارب: مقاتل المجهول
Official English title: The Hero Warrior: Fighter of the Unknown
Official Japanese title: 英雄戦士:未知の戦士 (Eiyū Senshi: Michi no Senshi).
Part One tells the events of the "Labib, the Nucleus Bearer" Arc, while Part Two presents a broader, longer, and more detailed series of events under the "Lobi, the Spirit of the Hero Warrior" Arc.
In other words, Part Two—the "Lobi" Arc—covers events that take place chronologically before the "Labib" Arc.
The work is fantasy, adventure, and a multi-character psychological and philosophical conflict. Lobi, the Spirit of the Hero Warrior, is the true central character, while Labib is the one who carries Lobi's Nucleus.
The central idea is driven by the Spirit of the Hero Warrior's desire to experience and explore every colour of life that it does not know, both visible and invisible. The invisible colours symbolize emotions and experiences.
The Leader's words to the Spirit of the Hero Warrior after activating the Gate of the Unknown: "Sail among the colours that adorn the painter's canvas, and enjoy them… And from other colours that cannot be seen, you will learn the greatest lessons."
2. Pulse Land Before the Activation of the Gate of the Unknown
Pulse Land was safe and beautiful, with no established knowledge of pain, fear, illness, aging, death, or betrayal. At its centre stood the Unknown Palace and a huge crystal containing the Spirit of the Hero Warrior. The Spirit was that of a young male child who knew nothing of life's experiences. One day, the Leader read a book he had brought from our world. The Spirit heard the words "pain," "betrayal," and other words it had never heard before, and asked about them.
Before the Gate of the Unknown was activated, the Guardians were primarily driven by the desire to protect the Spirit and did not possess free will. Ordinary human inhabitants and other creatures of Pulse Land, however, possessed original free will.
3. The Gate of the Unknown and the Leader's Limits
An inscription on the Gate of the Unknown reads: "This Gate shall only be activated to fulfil an urgent desire of the First Foundation: the Spirit of the Hero Warrior."
The Gate of the Unknown is the Second Foundation of Pulse Land. It is a mechanism designed to reshape the world according to the Spirit's desire. The Leader can activate it or cancel its effects, but he cannot reset its program or control the changes it produces or their outcomes.
This means that the Gate of the Unknown itself designs the new world in a form that corresponds to the Spirit's desire; the Leader has no role in creating that design. The Leader committed himself not to stopping the Gate's effects after its activation, so that he would not interrupt the Spirit's experience.
The Leader did not program specific trials for each Guardian and did not impose their actions on them. Instead, he prepared paths for certain characters to serve particular purposes without controlling their decisions.
After the Gate of the Unknown is activated, the Spirit splits into trillions of fragments, the memories of most Guardians are erased, and the environment changes. The crops of Pulse Land die, and shrubs grow throughout the land. Their fruits instil previously unknown concepts—such as pain, envy, evil, and betrayal—directly into the minds and souls of the inhabitants and creatures of Pulse Land as soon as they eat them.
Pulse Land then becomes known as the Unknown World.
4. The Spirit of the Hero Warrior: Lobi
The name of the Spirit of the Hero Warrior is Lobi. In Sranan Tongo, it means "love" or "to love."
After the Gate of the Unknown is activated, the Spirit of the Hero Warrior, Lobi, divides into trillions of fragments that pass into the chests of the Guardian Fighters as well as the Guardian Beasts. Their memories of their true identity as Guardians are completely erased, and they become known as the Unknown Fighters and the Unknown Beasts.
The diverse experiences of the Unknown Fighters and Unknown Beasts, who carry fragments of the Spirit of the Hero Warrior without knowing it, give Lobi many windows onto life and grant it immense knowledge—all without the Guardians realizing that they are teaching it.
When the experience ends, the fragments leave the chests of the Unknown Fighters and Unknown Beasts, and the Spirit of the Hero Warrior returns to its unified state once again.
The origin of Lobi's Spirit and how it existed before the known events are unresolved. This is one of the deliberately open mysteries, and many hypotheses remain possible.
5. The Nucleus, the Giant Spiral, and the Crystal
The Nucleus is the seventh and deepest central part of the heart of Lobi, the Spirit of the Hero Warrior and the First Foundation of Pulse Land.
The Leader transported the Nucleus to Earth in response to the Spirit's desire to experience our world. It remained in the sky like a star for an unknown period of time. After the Nucleus left its world, Pulse Land stopped pulsing.
However, at the moment the Nucleus united with Labib's heart at his birth, the pulse returned and the giant red spiral appeared at the centre of the Unknown World. The crystal of the Forbidden Land also began to pulse. The spiral's red colour is normal, while the spread of blackness through it and the crystal indicates an increase in Labib's pain, anger, and sadness.
The red spiral reflects the emotions of Labib, the Nucleus Bearer. When his negative emotions intensify, the spiral reflects them in the form of toxic black storms and immensely powerful, destructive Rotten Beasts capable of erasing the Unknown World.
The Nucleus itself chose Labib and waited for his birth for an unknown length of time. The reason for its choice deliberately remains an unresolved mystery. The possibility that Pulse Land is actually someone's heart—perhaps Labib's—is only a hypothesis, not an established fact.
6. Categories of Beings in Pulse Land / the Unknown World
The main categories are:
The Guardians of Lobi, the Spirit of the Hero Warrior: the Guardian Fighters and the Guardian Beasts.
Ordinary human inhabitants of Pulse Land and all other ordinary beings.
The Rotten Beasts: immensely evil beings with destructive power. They emerge from the giant spiral as reflections of the negative emotions of Labib, the Nucleus Bearer.
"Unknown Fighters" is a collective term that includes the Guardian Fighters and the Guardian Beasts.
There are two types of Guardian Beasts:
Pure Combat Beasts: conscious beasts that think, speak, and have their own principles.
Ordinary Instinctive Pure Beasts: beasts that have no consciousness, do not speak, and act according to their instincts.
The word "pure" when describing a beast does not refer to its morality or personality. It means that the beast is immune to the toxic black storms and is unaffected by them. The same applies to the Unknown Fighters.
The designation "Guardian" does not determine the appearance or morality of a Guardian Fighter or Guardian Beast.
Rotten Beasts are destructive. They have no personal motives or relationships and cannot be negotiated with. They are connected to the Nucleus Bearer's emotions, just like the toxic black storms. The word "toxic" means that the storms turn any ordinary creature exposed to them into a Rotten Beast, while the Unknown Fighters and Unknown Beasts remain immune.
7. Free Will
There are two types of will:
1. Original, Permanent Will
A creature that possessed this will before the Gate of the Unknown was activated retains it permanently; it is not removed by the Gate.
It belongs to the ordinary human inhabitants, animals, and creatures of Pulse Land.
Four Guardians of the Spirit of the Hero Warrior possess complete memories and are considered members of Pulse Land's governing council, with the Musician Fighter being the exception. They are:
The Leader of the Warriors
The Leader of the Beasts
Farid Sai Ryogan
Raad Ghzirs
This is referred to as the "Council of Will" and the "Governing Council."
2. Acquired Will
Acquired will belongs to the remaining Guardians of the Spirit of the Hero Warrior, including Fighters and Beasts.
They acquire this will when fragments of the Spirit enter their chests. They did not possess it before the Gate, and it disappears when the fragments leave.
The Musician Fighter is an exception: he has complete memory but does not possess original will, because he was formerly a spiritual pen belonging to Lobi's Spirit.
8. Memory and the Ancients
1. Complete Memory: five Guardians possess complete memory:
The Leader of the Warriors
The Leader of the Beasts
Farid Sai Ryogan
Raad Ghzirs
The Musician Fighter
All of them possess original will, except the Musician Fighter.
2. Nearly Complete Memory: eleven Fighters retained approximately 99% of their memories. Their role is to guide and lead the Unknown Fighters, and their will is acquired.
3. Completely Erased Memory: this applies to the remaining Fighters and Guardian Beasts—in other words, the rest of the Unknown Fighters and Unknown Beasts.
The sixteen individuals who possess complete or nearly complete memories are called the Ancients.
Those with nearly complete memory are:
The Five Teachers: Niyugin, Difoni, Jorawi, Eosin, and Ordovisi.
In addition: Noudbarak, Ghoser, Wodbin, Al-Hatheq, Nilofer Taif, and Wawzin.
Ordinary inhabitants and creatures of Pulse Land retain their complete memories and original will. This means that the effects of the Gate of the Unknown on memory and will apply only to the Guardians of the Spirit of the Hero Warrior.
9. Immortality, Death, and Healing
1. The Guardians: the Unknown Fighters and Unknown Beasts
They do not age and cannot experience true death as long as the Spirit of the Hero Warrior remains alive. When severely injured, a Guardian may automatically descend into the depths of its own land to heal. It does not return on its own; it needs to be summoned by a limited number of individuals, such as the Leader, Farid, Ghzirs, or the Black Warrior.
Ordinary inhabitants and creatures before the Gate is activated
They do not age or become ill, and they remain alive as long as the Spirit of the Hero Warrior, Lobi, is alive.
Ordinary inhabitants and creatures after the Gate of the Unknown is activated
They age, become ill, and die. When women of Pulse Land die, they return to their original form as flowers. In Episode 53, ordinary men are forcibly transformed into armoured Fighters, and ordinary animals into combat Beasts, in a process resembling compulsory conscription. This grants them temporary immunity, but does not make them original Guardians. The absence of female Fighters in the Labib Arc is not a rule that prevents their existence in the Lobi Arc.
11. Love and Immunity
Love is one of the most important elements of the work.
The Guardians are connected to the Spirit of the Hero Warrior by a deep, absolute love. Because they carry fragments of that very same Spirit in their chests, they also love one another with an absolute love beyond all imagination.
However, this does not prevent hostility, betrayal, or conflict between those who love one another. Conflicts and fierce battles occur among the Unknown Fighters throughout the series, especially during the great conflict in the Lobi Arc. These conflicts have different motives, but they are not caused by hatred. The following example illustrates the idea.
Sard the White says to the Teacher Niyugin: "It is true that I hold nothing but love, pride, and respect for you in my heart. But that does not mean I will not draw my sword against you."
The rule of love concerning humans and creatures from our world
A person or creature from our world who sincerely loves a particular Unknown Fighter is not affected by that specific Fighter's power. However, this does not grant immunity or protection from the powers of other Fighters.
The Seven Pulse Fighters, bearers of the Seven Pulse Necklaces
The Seven Pulse Fighters are the only ones capable of feeling love for beings from our world. All other Unknown Fighters love only the beings of the Unknown World and do not experience this feeling toward any creature that does not belong to their world. This does not mean that they hate humans; rather, they treat the beings of our world according to their individual principles, convictions, and personalities.
The Unknown Fighters and Unknown Beasts feel one another's spiritual pain because they carry fragments of a single Spirit.
Raad Ghzirs is the exception. He feels the spiritual and physical pain of every Unknown Fighter and Unknown Beast, as well as all inhabitants and creatures of the Unknown World—and, of course, that of Labib, the Nucleus Bearer, in our world.
11. Conflict Roles
First role: challenges arising from the activation of the Gate of the Unknown
Interwoven individual and collective conflicts arise among the Fighters themselves, among the Guardian Beasts, between Fighters and Beasts, and between these groups and ordinary inhabitants.
Friendships and alliances may also form and later turn into rivalries, or the reverse. These examples are not exhaustive.
These conflicts do not destroy the Unknown World.
Second role
The Unknown Fighters respond to the call of Labib, the Nucleus Bearer, if he summons them. They all come to his location and carry out his commands, whatever their nature—good, evil, or otherwise.
Third role
Confronting the greatest danger: the toxic black storms and Rotten Beasts connected to the Nucleus Bearer's negative emotions, which are capable of erasing the world.
12. The Earthly Conflict Arc: "Our World"
This storyline follows Labib's experiences and the events he lives through in our world. It also follows the cases and investigations undertaken by Farid Sai Ryogan in his capacity as a security and intelligence officer, head of a private crime-investigation organization, and investigator pursuing Orokaria. Orokaria is involved in drug and arms trafficking and various illegal activities under the leadership of a gang leader who turns out to be one of the generals of the Global Security Council.
These events intersect with the storylines of Unknown Fighters who live on Earth and conceal their true identities, such as Farid and Al-Hatheq.
13. Summoning the Fighters and the Events of the Final Episodes
Labib does not know that he has the ability to summon the Unknown Fighters and Unknown Beasts. Nor does he know the truth that he carries the Nucleus of Lobi, the Spirit of the Hero Warrior, until a late stage.
At the end, Labib is in the form of the Black Warrior and summons all the Fighters. His armour then breaks, and he appears unconscious before uttering the command to destroy.
The Unknown Fighters and Unknown Beasts sense the Nucleus's desire for revenge and destruction. They therefore decide on their own to travel to the heart of the galaxy to destroy the world and the galaxy. Had Labib not lost consciousness, he would have issued the command himself; however, the actual decision in that scene is made by the Fighters in response to what they feel.
The Nucleus's will and desires are connected to the remaining fragments of the Spirit of the Hero Warrior carried by the Fighters. Consequently, they desire what their Spirit desires. At that moment, the Spirit is suffering pain and sadness beyond its capacity to endure, and its desire is absolute revenge.
14. The Leader and Raad Ghzirs
The Leader is a Guardian with complete memory. He is the leader of the Guardians of the First Foundation, Lobi, the Spirit of the Hero Warrior; the protector of the Sixth Foundation, the Original Necklace bearing the unknown symbol 34369; and the protector of the Second Foundation, the Gate of the Unknown.
After activating the Gate of the Unknown and transporting the Nucleus to Earth, the Leader did not carry a fragment of Lobi's Spirit in his chest. His control over the Gate of the Unknown is limited to activating it or cancelling its effects.
After activating the Gate, the Leader physically transformed Raad Ghzirs into an infant. Raad did not lose his memory, consciousness, or identity as a Guardian. The Leader imprisoned him inside the crystal at the centre of Pulse Land so that he would gather and personally experience all the spiritual and physical pain of the Unknown Fighters, the Unknown Beasts, and the inhabitants of the Unknown World.
The intention was for the pain to accumulate inside Raad until it exceeded every conceivable limit. At that point, the crystal would break—even though no weapon could break it—and Raad would be released to carry out the mission of revenge.
When his anger and pain reach that level, the idea of turning back or abandoning revenge becomes almost impossible. He will only relent if the Leader offers him an alternative that fulfils the condition they agreed upon in the past, before the Gate was activated.
Raad Ghzirs is one of the Ancients with complete memory and original will. His body began to grow in parallel with Labib's growth after Labib's birth and the Nucleus's union with his heart. In the final scene, the Leader vanishes like a mirage. His fate remains open—another unresolved mystery.
The Pain of Raad Ghzirs, Imprisoned in the Crystal, and the Pain of Sard the White, Imprisoned in the Depths of Pain: The Difference Between Them
The imprisonment of Raad Ghzirs differs from that of Sard the White in the nature of the pain each experiences and in the condition that allows each of them to be released.
Raad was imprisoned inside the crystal located at the centre of the Forbidden Land so that he would accumulate pain. He cannot be released until the pain reaches a level beyond every conceivable limit and every standard. Only then will the crystal break, since no weapon or other means can break it.
Raad will then set out to carry out his mission of revenge. The anger generated by all that pain makes the idea of retreat impossible, unless the Leader offers him an alternative that satisfies his desire for retribution, in accordance with the agreement they made in the past.
Sard the White, on the other hand, was banished by Noudbarak through one of the Exile Gates to a spiritual place called the Depths of Pain, where he was imprisoned. This happened after a fierce battle between them. After a long, unspecified period, Sard the White managed to escape from the Depths of Pain. The reason is that an Exile Gate can be broken if it reaches a certain threshold, although it remains a legendary prison that most Fighters cannot break through force or any weapon. Sard the White is therefore an extremely rare exception.
The crystal in which Raad was imprisoned, however, cannot be broken by weapons or ordinary force under any circumstances. It breaks only when the pain exceeds every conceivable limit and every standard. Thus, Sard's escape was connected to the possibility of the Exile Gate reaching its breaking point, whereas Raad's release is conditional upon the pain itself reaching a level beyond anything that can be imagined or measured.
15. Farid, the Musician Fighter, and Other Characters
Farid Sai Ryogan, also known as the Eighth, is one of the Seven Pulse Fighters and one of the Ancient Fighters. In the Labib Arc, he appears as a character from our world, working as a security and intelligence officer and the head of a private crime-investigation organization.
He solved the riddle of the Eighth Puzzle (M), known as the Secret Puzzle. Its secret was connected to the meaning of the name of L
