Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Those Are My Sheep Too!

The scorching sun blazed down, and Jiang Feng lay under the shade of a tree. After eating and drinking his fill, a wave of drowsiness hit him.

"Lucky, Wealthy, you two watch the sheep! I'm going to take a nap."

Jiang Feng called out to the two Border Collies.

The two Border Collies lay on the grass, their eyes fixed on the flock of sheep after receiving Jiang Feng's command.

After drinking some sheep milk, Xiaojin Hua also felt sleepy. It obediently ran to Jiang Feng's side, rested its chin on Jiang Feng's abdomen, and fell asleep like that.

Before falling asleep, Jiang Feng glanced at the live stream comments from the viewers.

One viewer couldn't help but ask:

[Streamer, if you just leave the sheep like this, won't they get lost?]

[What if someone steals them?]

[Don't you need to keep an eye on the sheep while shepherding?]

Seeing these comments, Jiang Feng smiled and explained:

"Don't worry, everyone, the sheep won't get lost."

"The surrounding areas are all my pastures. Even if the sheep graze for three days and nights, they won't wander off."

"Twenty kilometers further in is the edge of the ranch, and beyond that is a no-man's land where no one comes."

"So, the only way to enter the pasture is from the direction of my ranch; it's all herders on the grassland, so there won't be any sheep thieves."

"Sometimes, the pasture is fenced off, and I can even let the sheep roam freely without worrying about them. It's completely free-range."

"We just gather them back at night."

"No matter how much they wander, they're still in my pasture."

"Even if they get lost, it would just take some time to find them."

Jiang Feng spoke confidently.

The viewers, however, grew increasingly restless.

[I almost forgot, the streamer owns ten thousand acres of prairie; definitely a tycoon!]

[With such a vast prairie, the sheep wouldn't be able to run away even if they wanted to!]

[Such a simple, unpretentious life!]

[First look at the stream: The streamer is herding sheep, so pitiful; second look: Tycoon, let's be friends!]

[In the streamer's mind: It's just four hundred sheep. If they run off, they run off.]

[Just joined, is this streamer really that impressive?]

The comments kept rolling.

Jiang Feng covered his eyes with a straw hat to make it darker and more comfortable for sleeping.

He elevated the drone, activating the slow patrol mode.

The drone maintained a certain height, capturing the landscape of the prairie.

Then, he truly fell asleep just like that.

Little Border Collie lay on him, closing its eyes and dozing off too.

The viewers found it curious.

[Is the streamer really sleeping?]

[A live stream of sleeping with such high viewership?]

[You should watch more often. This ranch owner is particularly remarkable and genuine.]

[Yeah, with such a big ranch and prairie, this stream is really interesting!]

[Watching makes me sleepy too. Perfect time for a nap, time to sleep!]

[Hahaha, I'm planning to nap too, but watching a prairie stream before sleep feels so soothing!]

[How can it be called shepherding if you don't nap while doing it!]

The comments in the live stream were particularly relaxed.

The screen showed the vast prairie, full of the clarity and openness of nature. As far as the eye could see, there was no trace of machinery, making the body and mind feel at ease.

Some viewers set down the live stream and began their afternoon nap.

Because afternoon naps are relatively simple, one usually sleeps in a bit of a daze.

But this time, many viewers found themselves sleeping especially soundly.

Around three or four in the afternoon, Jiang Feng woke up from his sleep.

He first got up to check on the sheep, pleased to see that the flock was still there.

Then he stood up, looked around, and watered a small tree with some nitrogen fertilizer.

Next, Jiang Feng turned off the drone's slow patrol mode and activated the side-by-side flight mode.

He glanced at the live stream, noticing there were still over 10,000 people online.

"Is everyone so idle, busy sneaking this at work?"

Jiang Feng turned on the microphone, laughing as he asked.

Jiang Feng's figure appeared in the live stream, and upon seeing him, many viewers commented:

[The streamer is back!]

[The scenery here is so beautiful!]

[Is this the ranch owner? Sure is handsome!]

Every moment, new viewers entered the live stream.

Many people, enchanted by the beauty of the vast prairie, stayed in the live stream to enjoy the scenery.

Seeing the comments, Jiang Feng also said:

"The sheep have grazed enough since I wandered a bit far out, so it's time to head back."

"Since there are a lot of new people in the live stream, let me explain again."

"I'm Jiang Feng, a ranch owner at Maodeng Ranch, where I rent ten thousand acres of grassland and livestream the interesting happenings here every day."

"Those who are interested can come and watch."

With that, Jiang Feng untethered the horse, saddled it, and prepared to head back.

"Lucky, Wealthy, herd them home."

At the same time, Jiang Feng commanded the two Border Collies.

As soon as he finished speaking, the two Border Collies darted out like arrows, transforming into fierce dogs sprinting with the wind, flanking the rear of the flock from left and right.

For Border Collies, moments like this are their favorite.

The timid sheep that only know to graze, the sheepdogs that enjoy herding, and the herders who raise the sheep - the existence of these three is the result of years of grassland development and has become the standard setup on the prairie.

Jiang Feng picked up the month-old Little Border Collie, mounted the horse, and leisurely rode back.

The drone captured every scene.

The viewers' eyes were on the flock of sheep being herded by the two Border Collies, all intrigued.

Watching sheepdogs herd sheep is similar to those videos of opening pearl oysters, shoeing horses, and forging blades.

There's nothing that could evoke strong emotional changes, yet it attracts viewers who find themselves watching for half an hour to an hour.

These videos seem to resonate with a person's soul.

Just watching them calms the mind, and the body feels light.

And since this is a live stream by Jiang Feng, even more people tuned in.

The live stream's real-time viewer count surpassed fifty thousand.

On horseback, Jiang Feng leisurely narrated:

"Actually, herding isn't as relaxed as everyone thinks."

"In general, there's only signal around the ranch; deep in the prairie, there isn't any signal."

"But my drone is special and can receive dedicated satellite signals, so I can live stream and access the internet, so it's not that boring."

"Nowadays, many herders are building signal towers; no one can do without their phones anymore. In the future, even while herding, everyone will want to play with their phones at the same time."

Hearing Jiang Feng's words, the viewers responded:

[Playing on the phone while herding? Isn't that relaxing?]

[Where can I apply for this job? I want in!]

[I'd rather be with sheep than face my boss's grumpy face!]

[Shepherds used to be those with no education, now college graduates can't compare to those herders who own grasslands.]

Seeing the comments, Jiang Feng smiled without a word.

Herding is just the simplest part of being a shepherd; actually, there are many tasks needing attention at the ranch.

For instance, ranch hygiene, flock quarantine, and during bad weather the sheep can't go out, so they have to be fed hay—enough for over four thousand sheep.

These tasks require a lot of effort.

But as the ranch owner, Jiang Feng has employees for these tasks.

He focuses more on coordinating, designing, and creating the ranch's environment.

Jiang Feng continued walking back, and soon saw another large flock of sheep grazing on the grass ahead.

"Look over there, those are my sheep too, about eight or nine hundred have come out."

"Old Yang and Old Niu are shepherding them."

Jiang Feng immediately recognized his own sheep and said so.

The drone's camera panned to the distance.

The viewers saw lush grassy land dotted with groups of sheep, resembling clusters of cotton.

[Are all those the streamer's sheep? Definitely a tycoon!]

[Bro, please stop showing off!]

[How many days will it take to graze all this!]

[They're all walking money!]

Just then, Lucky ran eagerly to the front of Jiang Feng's horse, occasionally glancing back at Jiang Feng.

The eagerness on its face clearly showed how much it loved shepherding.

Seeing this, Jiang Feng laughed and said:

"Lucky, go on, herd them all together!"

Upon hearing Jiang Feng's words, Lucky immediately darted away, going to herd the sheep in front.

Yang Maolin and Niu Erhu saw Jiang Feng returning, stood up from the grass, patted the grass remnants off their clothes, and prepared to herd the sheep back.
