Chapter 6 - Chapter 4: Cave Bonfire

The area where Research Base No. 101 is located is called the "Windy Plains," a vast wilderness under the control of Hegemony Company, with no human cities, only sparse research labs and military bases.

Due to the barren ecology of the wilderness, there's little vegetation, and the temperature difference between day and night is significant. During the day, the sun can bring the temperature to forty or fifty degrees, while at night it drops to single digits.

The night is very dark, as if the sky is draped with a black cloth, and no celestial light can be seen.

On the plains, there's a hidden cave, with a curtain over the entrance to block light and keep warmth.

Inside the cave, the orange-red campfire is burning steadily, with occasional cold winds blowing through the curtain gaps, bringing biting coolness.

Su Mo and Nuobai sit on opposite sides of the campfire, warming themselves, with only the crackling sound of the fire around them.

Neither of them speaks, with Nuobai arranging her gear, while Su Mo stares at the cave wall deep in thought.

Su Mo subconsciously closes his fingers, brushing the wound on his palm where the flesh is blurred with blood.

Suddenly transported into Dr. Chen's body, and right into the scenario of being kidnapped by Nuobai, he had very little time to react.

All he managed to do was scrape his palm open, leaving his blood at the scene as a "marker."

During the day, while being taken away from Base 101 on a motorcycle by Nuobai, he continuously scraped open the wound to ensure there was blood dripping every so often.

These seemingly trivial bloodstains were supposed to be hints for the company troops!

The Hegemony Company's Blood Code Ability can grant various extraordinary abilities to the implanted, including enhanced sense of smell.

When those top pursuers activate the Blood Code Ability, their sense of smell can reach dozens of times that of a hunting dog, even able to detect the scent of blood from a kilometer away.

As long as the company troops notice the bloodstains, the dripping blood along the way will undoubtedly act as a compass.

If all goes well, the pursuing troops should already be en route, following the scent of blood through the night to reach him.

To cover his small actions, Su Mo had deliberately fallen when entering the cave and pressed his hand into a pile of gravel.

This way, the wounds from the gravel cuts would mix with the ones made by his nails.

Nuobai isn't a professional doctor, so she definitely can't tell the difference between the two.

As Su Mo was gazing at the cave entrance, his hand was suddenly gently held.

When he turned back, he saw the plain white mask without any patterns and the dark eyes behind it reflecting the campfire.

Nuobai was holding bandages and disinfectant, starting to tend to Su Mo's wound with light and gentle actions.

Seeing this, Su Mo gave a brief smile and in a teasing tone said, "You don't think that by bandaging my wound now, I'll be so touched that I'll tell you what you want to know, do you?"

"I'm not stupid. As soon as I tell you who the intermediary was that sold you out, I'll have no protective value to you anymore, and you'll hand me over to the employer without hesitation."

"So, unless you stop the kidnapping and take me to a safe place, I won't say a word."

Nuobai's gaze turned cold, and she stopped helping with the bandages, directly tossing the bandage and medication to Su Mo, letting him handle it himself.

Su Mo was dumbfounded.

Come on, can't you at least keep up the act a little?

You stop acting after just a little prompting, how are you supposed to deceive anyone like this?

...

The night grew deeper, with the unpredictable wilderness weather. After the thunder, it started to rain heavily.

Raindrops pattered against the cave top and rock walls, producing a dense ticking sound.

The company troops couldn't arrive immediately, so tonight should be a peaceful night. Su Mo relaxed a bit, leaning against the wall and listening to the sound of the rain.

Nuobai went outside the cave several times to move the luggage from the motorcycle inside, getting wet each time.

Her white long hair was drenched and clung to her shoulders, with water droplets tracing down her strands and dripping onto her slender neck.

The soaked clothes clung to her graceful body, with the firelight casting a tantalizing shadow on the cave wall.

Nuobai took off her soaked jacket, wearing only a white sports tank top underneath.

As a mercenary accustomed to fighting, Nuobai's physique was more toned than a typical woman's, featuring the beautiful lines of her abdomen, with a waist like an artist's precise cut, outlining an alluring curve.

Su Mo's gaze traveled from Nuobai's waist and abdomen upward, finally staying fixed.

He thought to himself: The official data files didn't lie to me.

Indeed a 36D, with no exaggeration.

No wonder so many players nicknamed her "Big White."

Nuobai wrung out the jacket, placed it by the fire to dry, then tossed a sleeping bag to Su Mo.

Su Mo, having been through enough today, slipped into the sleeping bag and closed his eyes.

The external temperature was very low, but this sleeping bag was of excellent quality, providing great insulation, quickly enveloping him in a cozy warmth.

As Su Mo drifted into sleep, he suddenly felt a soft body squeeze in.

He opened his eyes to find Nuobai in minimal clothing, trying to fit into his sleeping bag.

Su Mo was stunned: "What are you doing???"

Nuobai glanced at him and typed on her phone:

[Sleeping]

Su Mo was puzzled: "If you want to sleep, then sleep. Why are you squeezing into my sleeping bag?"

Nuobai typed:

[I only have one sleeping bag]

Su Mo was dumbfounded, what kind of storyline is this? The original story didn't have such a "benefit."

Without further ado, Nuobai squeezed into the sleeping bag, typing:

[Sleeping]

This was a single sleeper bag. Being tall and not a petite girl, Nuobai's entry left Su Mo tightly pressed against her, with a cotton candy-like sensation from all the physical contact.

As a game-loving single nerd before his journey, Su Mo hadn't even held a girl's hand, let alone handled anything like this.

He awkwardly said, "Seriously, just us two alone, how am I supposed to sleep like this?"

Nuobai blinked, her black pupils reflecting a soft glow in the firelight.

She typed:

[No worries, leave it to me]

After saying this, Nuobai put down her phone, extended her arms, and slowly wrapped them around Su Mo's neck in an embrace, pressing closely against him.

Su Mo's vision was filled with the white skin drawing nearer, leaving him completely taken aback.

Isn't this what they call...

A face wash?!

Wait, no!

In the original story, Nuobai was clearly a distant, introverted girl. When did she become so "capable"?!

Nuobai's body was cool and moist from the rain, offering a uniquely intriguing touch.

Feeling Nuobai's delicate skin, Su Mo's mind went into disarray.

He thought: Could my journey have altered the storyline, causing the character's settings to change?

If that's the case, what should I do now...

Su Mo kept swallowing hard, his heart rate shooting up to 180, and he almost unconsciously placed his hand around Nuobai's slim waist.

What should I do...

What should I do...

This is my first time...

My first crossover, I have no experience!!!

Just when Su Mo was at a loss, Nuobai's hands encircled his neck and reached the back of his head.

Then...

"Thud!"

She delivered a chop to the nape of his neck.

The intense impact caused Su Mo's vision to go dark, feeling the world spin, leading to the deepest "sleep" of his life.

Before consciousness faded, he had only one thought—

Ha, what was I even expecting?
