Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Train in Peril, the Ladle Shows Its Might

Bao Wenxuan looked at everything and felt completely at ease.

"Hahaha," she extended her hand, her eyes sparkling, "Hello, pretty sister, my name is Bao Wenxuan, I'm a sent-down youth."

Wen Ran raised her hand and shook it, "Wen Ran, also sent down."

"Ah! Where were you sent down to? This whole train car is headed to the northeast; I'm from Qingshan Commune, Silly Deer Team in H Province."

Wen Ran was surprised, "I'm also from Qingshan Commune in H Province, even the same team."

"Really!" Bao Wenxuan was ecstatic, "What is this called? It's destiny to meet over thousands of miles!"

Their conversation opened up interaction among the group, and everyone started chatting animatedly, hoping to find allies and get acquainted on the train to form a small group.

So that when they reached the countryside, they wouldn't be isolated and bullied.

Wen Ran didn't think that far ahead; mainly, her strength and temper were evident, and she'd be thankful not to bully others.

However, humans are social creatures, and if she wanted a peaceful life, she needed companions.

The slightly chubby girl in front of her seemed nice, with honest eyes and straightforwardness, not like someone with ill intentions.

The train traveled on the tracks with a clattering sound for two days, and both of them intended to get along well, quickly becoming familiar with each other.

"Ranran," Bao Wenxuan complained with a bitter face, "when do you think this train will arrive? My butt is going numb."

Wen Ran sighed helplessly, "So am I."

But, judging by the schedule, it would take at least another seven or eight hours to reach their destination.

Oh, Buddha~

When did she ever travel in such a tormenting means of transportation!

Wen Ran lamented internally but had to comfort Bao Wenxuan, "We're almost there, hang in there, we're about to succeed."

In the next instant, disaster struck.

"Bang~"

"Crash!"

The train shook violently, emitted a piercing whine, and then the carriage began to tilt out of control.

Bao Wenxuan, having never encountered such a situation, turned pale.

Screams echoed all around.

Wen Ran's luggage was always at her feet, and at this moment, she threw a bundle into her arms with one hand, grabbing onto the train seat with the other, and held Bao Wenxuan tightly.

"Bao Wenxuan! Where's your luggage? Grab the valuable ones."

Bao Wenxuan kept her valuables close, but hearing that, she scrambled to pick up the nearest bundle.

She was very scared, but fear was of no use now; even though tears were streaming down her face, she trembled and said, "I, I've got it."

Wen Ran held onto her, "Find a safe seatback to grip onto."

"Okay!"

Their hands parted, and Bao Wenxuan clung to the seatback like an octopus, "Ranran, where are you going?"

What else could she do?

Of course, try to save themselves, with so many people here; if everyone waited for help, they might as well wait to die.

"Protect your face a bit, I'm going to break the glass now."

"Huh?" Bao Wenxuan, though puzzled, did as instructed; Wen Ran pulled a large spoon from her bundle, gathered her strength, and smashed it into the corner of the train window.

"Crash~"

With a sharp crack, the entire glass shattered, and Wen Ran timely dodged, getting only a shallow cut on her face from the shards.

She bit her lip, used the spoon to clear away the remaining glass pieces at the edges, and climbed out with her bundle first.

The train tilted and lay beside the tracks, their carriage was relatively intact, with some angle to the ground, while others had flipped over.

She tied the bundle to herself and climbed back onto the carriage.

Seeing Wen Ran's outstretched hand, Bao Wenxuan burst into tears, "Ranran..."

"Stop crying!" Wen Ran tried her best, "Quick, grab my hand, I'll take you out."

Bao Wenxuan, being a bit chubby, was slow to react in fear, but the female sent-down youth sitting next to her grabbed Wen Ran's hand with agility, crying, "Help me, help me first."

"One at a time!"

Everyone needed saving, but priorities existed.

The female youth refused to let go, crying with a sharp voice, "Save me first!"

The male youth behind also urged, "Wait a bit, her friend hasn't even been saved yet; let go, it will speed things up."

The female youth, terrified to her limit, like a mad dog, bit anyone she saw, "Shut up! You're just jealous I got hold of her arm first, I... ah..."

Bao Wenxuan gritted her teeth and shoved the female youth aside, "Get lost!"

She grabbed onto Wen Ran's arm, using her hands and feet, she clumsily climbed out, and at the moment she escaped alive, Bao Wenxuan felt she had grown up.

Of course, that didn't stop her from bursting into tears, "Boo hoo hoo, Ranran, I was scared to death."

"Enough with being scared to death," Wen Ran shook her arm, "let's move a little quicker, okay?"

So many people crammed inside; if something happened, it would be quite a hassle.

She wasn't a saint, but she couldn't leave people to die either.

Wen Ran climbed back into the carriage, extending her hand again, "Line up, one at a time, we won't leave anyone behind."

The scene was a bit chaotic, Wen Ran pointed to the lad who just spoke up for them, "That's you, come over, I'll pull you up first."

The female youth screamed again, "Why, even if we're lining up, it's my turn."

Wen Ran: "..."

She cursed, "You idiot, if I pull you up here, can you help or what!"

This fool, if left alone behind her, she feared this woman might go crazy and push her back in.

The male youth was in disbelief, but reacted quickly, "Okay!"

He casually tossed two of Bao Wenxuan's bundles that were scattered on the ground out.

The items thudded to the ground, with Bao Wenxuan's shout, "Ouch~ who on earth hit me?! Oh~ it's my bundle, how did it fly out?"

Wen Ran's tense emotion loosened considerably, and she said to the male youth, "Get up here quickly."

"Okay!"

After saving two men, they took over rescuing others, Wen Ran let go of this carriage.

She picked up her large spoon and ran to other carriages, smashing open train windows in the same manner.

She shattered the glass of three or five carriages in succession, her adrenaline soaring, feeling thrilled, yet wondering if she would be made to pay for this.

"Come, give me your hand."

In an unguarded moment, she stumbled inward due to the force applied to her hand, and upon looking back, wow!

What a huge figure.
