The visitor was Li Xiaohua, considered a distant relative of Mrs. Xiao.
Mr. Xiao and Li Xiaohua's husband are cousins. On this trip to the Northwest, all the livestock at home were looked after by Li Xiaohua.
"Oh dear, you've helped so much; you should keep the eggs for yourself to eat."
"That won't do," Li Xiaohua refused. "I haven't done much, just fed some chickens. The Red Army doesn't need me for anything; he can hunt on the mountain to fill his own stomach."
Then, Li Xiaohua asked eagerly, "Sister-in-law, when will the Red Army have puppies? Could we get one for our family when that happens?"
This was easy to agree to, "Sure, but the Red Army is a male dog. When he's mingling with some random female dog, we can't keep track."
Li Xiaohua was excited, "No problem, Auntie, I know."
She would keep an eye out herself; she just hoped to get one at that time.
