Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Making a Robot Suit

Dexter slumped unto his bed in frustration, it was after he made the bet that he was told that the competition would be held in three weeks, and he had no idea on what to create.

"Hey Ana, do you have any idea of what I should do."

"How about a nanobot robotic suit." Ana offered.

When Dexter heard that, it was like a light bulb lit in his mind.

"Yeah, why didn't I think of that." He said and face palmed.

He immediately got up and started to use his Research and Development Skills, he drew the initial blueprint and how it would look like but there was a problem the power source.

After a whole night of tinkering and thinking he decided to use hydrogen batteries, he would just reduce their size and make it more compactable.

"Now all I need is materials." This was a huge problem, another reason why Dep A-5, had been on the decline was because of inadequate funding.

Well they weren't funded because there was no end product but now maybe he could get a little funding.

He immediately went to find Angela, she was the leader of this establishment and he knew she was the only person that would fund him.

He arrived outside her office and was stopped by the secretary outside.

"Do you have and appointment with Mrs. Angela?" The secretary asked.

"No but I would like to see her."

"She is busy, you would have to wait a moment." And the secretary then gestured to a waiting room, Dexter looked at were she was pointing and went to sit.

He hadn't waited long when a group of people came along and there weren't just anyone, they were his Department colleagues.

"What are the doing here?" Dexter thought.

He saw Travis talk to the secretary and then the secretary gestured to the waiting room were he was.

Travis looked over, and Dexter and his eye's met.

His eyes were unreadable, he couldn't be sure if he was angry, frustrated, or sad, his eyes were just neutral.

Travis and the rest then made there way to the waiting room.

They sat down directly opposite from Dexter and they just sat there in silence, staring at each other.

Dexter couldn't handle the silence any more and was about to say something but someone beat him to it.

"What are you doing here." Travis asked with a hint of a threatening tone in his voice.

"Am I not allowed to come here." Dexter answered in a layed back manner.

"You are allowed but I hope you wouldn't make things worse for us by being here." Travis said with a menacing smile.

The smile shocked Dexter, he had never seen Travis like this, he must have really been frustrated by the event to be acting like this.

Dexter didn't answer and they all went back to awkward silence.

The secretary then walked up to them and said,

"She is free to see you guys now, and she said you all have to come in together she doesn't have time."

Travis and the rest looked at each other and moved to her office without hesitation, but Dexter hesitated.

He didn't know how he was going to get the funding for his project, especially when his whole Department was going against him.

"Regardless, I have to try." He took a deep breath and followed.

By the time Dexter entered the office, Travis and the others had already set up everything.

"Aren't you guys in the same department?" Angela asked a bit amused.

"Yes but we are presenting different projects." Travis said and went to start his presentation.

"Ma'am we present the compact hover boots, unlike normal boots that you carry around, this one can be compacted and stored in your pocket..."

Travis went on to continue his explanation of the boots, but as Dexter listened he came to realize why Dep A-5 had been in the decline, this didn't seem like something a person who worked at a high-tech Research and Development Agency should present.

There were already hover boots, so they just had to make it become more compactable, which didn't seem like a real technological break through.

"These guys really lack imagination." Dexter thought.

Angela was barely listening, she was used to this department terrible pitches and she turned her attention to Dexter, he didn't seemed to be interested in what they were saying in the slightest, he acted like the level of technology was beneath him.

"That is interesting." She mumbled, she was draw out of her thoughts when Travis finished his presentation.

"So ma'am what do you think?" Travis asked expectantly, he need this to go well or he wouldn't know where to hide from shame.

"I would have funded it but I need to see the other member of your department's project." She said and looked at Dexter.

"Him!? No ma, he doesn't have any thing to present." Travis said hurriedly hoping to divert her attention.

"Really, then why is he here." She said and looked at Dexter, "You have a presentation right?"

Dexter answered with a nod.

"Then present it."
