Chapter 96 - The Seven-Star Dragon Ball and the Summoning of Shenron

It didn't matter. There were still five jars left to open.

And even if the next five jars contained nothing but air, today's trip was already worth it. After all, she had obtained the Byakugan.

"Oh, right!"

Suddenly, a thought struck Bai Xiao, and her eyes lit up.

The Shopkeeper had said her new eyes possessed the power of x-ray vision. Could she use the Byakugan to peer inside the remaining unopened jars?

The idea made her heart race. Without hesitation, she channeled her new energy.

Byakugan!

In an instant, the veins around Bai Xiao's temples bulged visibly, and her irises vanished, leaving her eyes a stark, eerie white.

"Is that... the Byakugan?"

Ningguang stared, taken aback.

Why was Bai Xiao activating it now? And the physical transformation—the bulging veins made her face look somewhat ferocious. It was completely different from Bai Wen's Devil Fruit ability.

Bai Wen looked normal even when using her powers. But Bai Xiao? Her appearance changed drastically the moment she engaged the bloodline. It was certainly less... elegant.

Felix, seeing Bai Xiao staring intensely at the jars with her veins popping, almost face-palmed.

Good grief. She's trying to cheat already?

The Byakugan certainly had x-ray vision, but did she really think she could peer through the conceptual barrier of the System's jars?

Felix remained silent, watching with amusement. If the jars were that easy to exploit, he would have peeked inside long ago. Even he didn't know what was inside until they broke.

Bai Xiao was certainly a clever little devil for trying, though.

"Shopkeeper... the x-ray isn't working," Bai Xiao complained, her face scrunching up in distress.

She couldn't see anything. The jars remained opaque blocks in her vision.

Didn't the Shopkeeper say this bloodline power allowed her to see through objects? Why couldn't she see through the clay?

And it wasn't just the jars. When she looked at the Shopkeeper, she couldn't see through him either. He appeared completely normal, blocking her sight entirely.

Felix: "..."

He sighed. "Did you really think the ability you got from the jars would let you cheat the jars themselves? The Byakugan grants x-ray vision, yes. But do you think this shop would allow such a loophole?"

Bai Xiao: "0....0"

Her face stiffened.

She had been naive. Of course. A shop this mysterious wouldn't leave such a glaring exploit open.

Ningguang chuckled softly, realizing what her secretary had attempted. Trying to peek at the prizes before opening them? Bold, but foolish.

Bai Xiao's face turned bright red. Shame washed over her. If there were a crack in the floor, she would have happily crawled into it.

She had made a fool of herself in front of Lady Ningguang and the Shopkeeper.

She immediately deactivated the Byakugan. But just before her eyes returned to normal, her gaze inadvertently swept across Ningguang.

In that split second, Bai Xiao saw everything.

Her face went from red to atomic crimson. She shut her eyes tight and deactivated the power instantly.

She understood now.

It wasn't that the Byakugan didn't work. It worked perfectly on normal things—like Lady Ningguang. It just didn't work on the mysterious entities of the shop, like the jars or Felix.

Ningguang froze.

The moment Bai Xiao's gaze had swept over her, she felt a distinct, prickling sensation. A feeling of being completely exposed, stripped bare.

Her eyelid twitched. She understood immediately.

Thank the Archons it was Bai Xiao who got this power and not some random pervert.

"Shopkeeper," Ningguang asked, her tone serious, "is this bloodline power unique? Will anyone else be able to obtain a Byakugan in the future?"

"It is not unique," Felix replied, nodding. "Nothing in these jars is truly one-of-a-kind. Duplicates are possible, though the probability is extremely low."

He wasn't entirely sure himself—he was just the merchant—but generally, items like Devil Fruits were unique per universe (unless a different model), while genetic traits like Bloodline Limits could theoretically be mass-produced.

"I can't guarantee anything," he added. "But absolute uniqueness is rare."

Ningguang's expression stiffened.

So, there was a chance someone else could get x-ray vision?

"If I coat my body in elemental energy, can the Byakugan still see through it?" she asked quickly. "Can the vision be blocked?"

"Naturally," Felix reassured her. "The Byakugan works by perceiving energy and light. If you cloak yourself in dense elemental energy, the user will only see the energy, not what lies beneath. It acts as a shield."

He gestured to his own eyes. "Also, activating the Byakugan has a very obvious tell—the bulging veins around the temples. If someone uses it, they are easily spotted. It's not a stealthy ability."

In the world of Naruto, powerful ninja could block the Byakugan's sight or simply sense the gaze. Weaklings couldn't peep on the strong without permission.

"Phew."

Ningguang let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. That was acceptable. She would have to research effective shielding techniques with Bai Xiao later.

Bai Xiao, realizing exactly why her boss was asking these questions, kept her head down, her face still burning.

She took a deep breath to steady herself and turned back to the remaining jars.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

She smashed the final five in rapid succession.

Three items fell out.

Two light orbs—one blue, one white.

And a crystal ball.

It was about the size of a fist, perfectly spherical, and golden-orange in color. Inside the crystal floated seven distinct red stars.

"Only two empty jars! Yes!" Bai Xiao cheered, her earlier embarrassment forgotten.

Another profitable haul.

But Ningguang's gaze was instantly drawn to the orange crystal ball.

It was beautiful. The moment she saw it, she felt a strange allure. It felt... important.

Felix: "..."

He stared at the ball, falling into deep thought.

A Dragon Ball? Seriously?

Was Bai Xiao's luck broken?

And more importantly... in the world of Genshin Impact, if one gathered all seven, would Shenron actually appear?

The System wouldn't give a dud item. If it was here, it had to work.

But the difficulty of gathering all seven... that was astronomical.

He glanced at the other two items first.

[Spirit Energy Mass (Blue)]: Pure spiritual energy from a living being. Fusing it increases mental strength.

[Carpenter Grandmaster Experience (White)]: Experience from a master carpenter of another world. Grants mastery of woodworking.

[Seven-Star Dragon Ball]: One of the legendary Dragon Balls from a certain universe. Gather all seven to summon the Eternal Dragon (Shenron). The Dragon can grant any wish the summoner desires.

Felix's eyelid twitched.

Any wish.

It really was that Dragon Ball.

Why was something of this tier in a Normal Jar? Bloodline Limits, Dragon Balls... the loot table for Normal Jars was getting ridiculous. If this was the low-tier stuff, what the hell was in the Exclusive Jars?

"Shopkeeper?"

Ningguang noticed Felix staring at the golden ball for a long time.

"Is... is that item special?"

"The white orb is Carpentry Experience," Felix said, recovering his composure. "The blue one is a Spirit Energy Mass; it will strengthen your mind and mental resilience."

He pointed to the orange sphere.

"As for this... this is the Seven-Star Dragon Ball."

"Dragon Ball?"

Bai Xiao and the others blinked.

It certainly looked like a ball with stars in it.

"Yes. A Dragon Ball," Felix nodded solemnly. "There is an ancient legend from a distant world. It says there are seven of these orbs scattered across the earth. If one gathers all seven and recites the incantation, the Eternal Dragon will be summoned. This Dragon... can grant absolutely any wish."

Bai Xiao: "????"

Bai Wen: "????"

Ningguang: "..."

They stared at him, dumbfounded.

Any wish?

Summon a god-dragon?

As secretaries to the Qixing, they were well-read. They knew the history of Liyue, the legends of Rex Lapis, the Adepti. But they had never heard of a dragon that granted wishes.

It sounded more absurd than the existence of Visions.

Even Ningguang, the woman who stood at the apex of Liyue's power structure, felt her composure crack.

Any wish?

The implications were terrifying.
