Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

The tunnels that they ran into was pitch black, forcing Leona to rely on her other senses. She could hear Lucas's breathing ahead of her, could smell the damp concrete and rust, could feel the vibrations of footsteps echoing through the passageways.

"How do you know where you're going?" she called out, suddenly thinking it's probably a bad idea to follow her enemy into a dark tunnel. 

"I don't," Lucas admitted. "I'm guessing."

Despite the darkness, Leona squeezed her face into a frown. "That's not reassuring!"

"Just follow me, I'm not trying to hurt you." Lucas called out from before her and she swallowed whatever doubt she had and followed after him. 

They burst into a wider chamber, and Lucas paused, trying to orient himself. The footsteps behind them were getting closer. Voices echoed through the tunnels, and Leona caught the word "kill."

They were going to kill them if they get caught, they mustn't get caught or their friends would be in trouble.
