Kai and Enzo were twenty-two now, living in a small apartment together while finishing college. The vibe of their place was exactly what everyone expected: LED lights, mismatched mugs, and a couch that technically belonged to neither of them.
They'd been officially together for four years, still best friends first, still idiots second, and absolutely in love third.
One weekend, they decided to visit Enzo's parents' house for a few days — a little escape, a little nostalgia. It felt like the old sleepovers, except now they shared the same bed, and the feeling between them wasn't new and confusing anymore. It was comfortable, real, and steady.
**A Few Weeks Later…**
Kai had been feeling weird. Tired. Nauseous. Emotional in ways he couldn't explain.
"Babe, you okay?" Enzo asked one morning when he noticed Kai was looking down
Kai shrugged. "I dunno. I feel… off. Like my body's trying to tell me something important but refusing to use words."
Enzo gave him The Concerned Boyfriend Look™ and said,
"Let's just get you checked out."
They went to a clinic. Kai tried to joke around while Enzo squeezed his hand, pretending he wasn't nervous too.
After some tests, the doctor returned with a small smile.
"Well… congratulations. You're pregnant."
Kai blinked.
Enzo blinked twice.
Kai whispered, "I… I'm what?"
Enzo squeezed his hand tighter, eyes wide but full of this warm, stunned wonder.
"Kai… we're gonna be..parents?"
Kai nodded slowly, tears prickling his eyes.
"I guess we are."
Enzo hugged him so tightly he almost lifted him off the exam table.
**The Ultrasound Appointment**
A week later, they went in for the first ultrasound.
Kai lay back while Enzo held his hand like he was bracing for an earthquake.
The doctor turned the screen toward them.
"Here's baby number one…"
Kai gasped.
"…and here's baby number two."
Enzo choked on air. "TW— TWO!? TWO?!"
The doctor laughed. "Yes. Twins."
Kai burst out laughing and crying at the same time.
"Enzo, we're having TWO babies!"
Enzo stared at the screen like the universe had just handed him a bonus round.
"Do we… do we know—?"
"A boy and a girl," the doctor confirmed.
Kai covered his mouth with his hands, overwhelmed with joy.
A son. A daughter. Two tiny lives.
Enzo kissed his forehead, smiling so wide it almost looked painful.
"Kai… our family just doubled."
Kai whispered back,
"And so did our chaos."
