Chapter 2 - Future S Class Wizard, Happy and Lucy

"Quit bragging. I saw you when you were young. Even if you try your hardest, you still cannot match that kid."

"You little brat, are you trying to ruin my reputation."

"You looking for a fight."

Inside the guild, people were always ready to throw punches for the smallest reason, and in an instant the hall dissolved into chaos again.

...

At that moment, on a train headed toward Hargeon, Kai was studying the effect of the new ability he had just received.

[Backup Hidden Energy Source: Stores an amount of mana equal to your own maximum mana, and can be drawn on at any time.]

"Stores mana equal to my own maximum, and I can use it whenever I want."

"Is this not basically a second mana bar."

Kai immediately felt like he had become super broken. On his own, he already held mana on par with an S class wizard.

Add the buff that multiplied his mana by ten, and now this Backup Hidden Energy Source on top. His current mana reserves were twenty times those of other S class wizards.

"My Warfire King's Armory burns mana fast, but I have plenty of mana to burn now."

"Number one in the guild is definitely going to be me. Anyone who has a problem with that gets flattened."

Kai felt that if he did not brag when he was already this strong, he would burst from holding it in.

"Human trafficking ring, mysterious case of missing women, reward two million J, this job..."

"This pay is so damn garbage. No wonder no one took it. The old man really tried to stuff this one on me. Who else but me would do it."

Kai could not help curling his lip. The reward for this job was really too low. Extermination missions usually paid at least several million.

He settled down and began carefully reading through the information in the request.

...

In the blink of an eye, the train pulled into Hargeon. Dusk was already falling by the time Kai left the station and walked along the seaside streets.

Hargeon was a port city. Most of its districts hugged the water, trade was flourishing, and because of that the place was crawling with all kinds.

Convenient transport meant anyone doing something dirty could just turn around and run, so all sorts of incidents tended to happen here.

Just then, he saw a blue blur flying in the sky not far away.

"That guy, forget catching fish, he probably could not even grab a mouse."

"Happy, what are you doing."

"Happy, it is Kai."

"Kai, who."

Lucy stared blankly at Kai waving to them from not far away and asked in confusion.

Happy hurriedly carried Lucy higher into the air, but halfway along, the time limit on his magic was up. His face took on an adorably doomed expression.

"Heh heh heh, my magic time is up."

"Happy."

Girl and cat plummeted toward the ground, but halfway down they were suddenly snagged by a rope and yanked sideways.

Kai caught the falling Happy and Lucy with one hand and spoke.

"I figured as much."

"Right, Natsu is still over there on that boat."

"What is going on with that ship."

Kai glanced toward the distant vessel and asked.

"It is a slave ship, human trafficking. I almost got taken just now. If not for Happy and Natsu saving me, I would be on it already."

Lucy blurted it out in a rush. Only now did she snap back to herself. Natsu was still on that ship. She had to save him.

But her celestial keys had been thrown into the water. Without keys, a Celestial Spirit wizard was completely useless.

"Human traffickers, could not ask for better."

Kai looked over at the ship in the distance and then smiled. This really saved him a lot of time.

He smiled, and ripples spread through the space behind him. One after another, cold gleaming magic rifles from the Warfire King's Armory appeared out of thin air.
