Chapter 86 - Chapter 87

"After all, you still don't completely trust me."

Listening to Nick Fury, Natasha, and Coulson's conversation, Lu Yi couldn't help but sigh.

He sighed, but didn't continue speaking. There was no need.As their investigation progressed, they would sooner or later discover that everything he said was true. No sighing required.

Lu Yi went back to constructing his magic furnace.

Nothing happened that night.

The next morning, the sun rose over the dome, scattering billions of rays that chased away the darkness over the grassland inside Lu Yi's home, bringing light once more.

Bathed in the morning glow, Lu Yi looked as if he were wearing a radiant golden armor. His handsome face, sharp as if carved by a blade, shone with an almost divine brilliance—sacred, untouchable. He looked like a deity, the last god of the world, eternal and indestructible.

"Node twenty-three—connection complete."

The Eternal One's voice, tinged with faint surprise, shattered everything in an instant, dragging Eternal Lu Yi back down from godhood to mere mortal.

But Lu Yi didn't mind. It was all an illusion. And illusions, by nature, were not worth clinging to—they were meant to be broken.

Lu Yi pursued true eternity, true reality—not false and fleeting phantoms.

"Node twenty-three is connected. My mana recovery speed has increased tenfold. With my current mana, I can easily cast ordinary spells—lost magic is no longer out of reach." Lu Yi couldn't help but smile.

His regeneration was ten times faster than before. His endurance had skyrocketed. There was no longer any need to worry about mana depletion.

His mana recovery was now so rapid that he could replenish what he spent in just a short time.

"Now… who's that?"

Lu Yi smiled—but the smile instantly faded. His gaze shifted from the grass to the doorway. Someone had just triggered his magic formation.

At first he thought it might be Coulson or Natasha again. But one look at the suspicious figure outside, and he eliminated that possibility entirely.

First, the person's skeletal structure was completely different from theirs. It was a woman—an oddly shaped one, though her figure seemed pretty good based on her bone structure.

Second, her methods and technique were all wrong. She didn't move like a trained agent—more like someone who picked up a few tricks from who-knows-where. Clumsy and amateurish.

Lastly, she was extremely sneaky, almost as if she was intentionally trying to make everyone aware she was up to something shady.

Putting these clues together, Lu Yi ruled out Natasha and Coulson immediately. He ruled out "agent" entirely. She was just an ordinary person with zero professional training.

Encountering someone like this made Lu Yi chuckle.

Why were all sorts of random people coming to him lately?Did they think he was easy to approach?

He glanced at the person outside. With a single thought, the door opened, and he pulled her body directly toward him through telekinetic force.

"Ahhhh!"

A piercing scream echoed throughout Lu Yi's house.

Even with the expansion enchantment making the house vastly larger, the scream still filled every corner.

In her room, Yuriko was resting. Hearing the noise, she instinctively leapt from her bed, claws extended, posture like a startled wildcat ready to attack.

Yuriko was wearing a lace nightgown. The sudden fright left her no time to change, revealing far more than she normally would.

Unfortunately, no one saw this beautiful sight—so she felt no embarrassment. After staying on alert for a few seconds, she sensed something, relaxed, and straightened her nightgown. Her instincts told her there was no danger. It was probably just her master punishing someone again, so she didn't concern herself further.

But sleep was gone.Rubbing her tired eyes, Yuriko began washing up, preparing to serve Lu Yi.

Meanwhile, the culprit behind the scream—Skye—was trembling violently, filled with regret.

She had never hated her own hands as much as she did at this moment. She could have kept investigating S.H.I.E.L.D. like she always did. Why, oh why, did she have to click that news article? And if it were just the news, it would've been fine—but why did she have to act on her curiosity and go verify it herself?

And now she was dead.

Until yesterday, Skye had been focused on digging into S.H.I.E.L.D., searching for hidden truths—and searching for information about her parents.

But yesterday, she stumbled across a mysterious incident online: a street address in the U.S. had vanished.

Curious—and eager to explore anything supernatural—she used her world-class hacking skills to track down the missing address.

God bless those who work hard.

After more than ten minutes of searching, she found the location. Then she drove her home-slash-van straight to the scene early this morning to investigate.

But she never expected that before she even made any progress—before she even began—just a few glances later, her entire body would be pulled by an invisible force into… this place. A grassy field, suspended helplessly before a man wearing a terrifyingly "dangerous" smile.

She didn't understand what was happening, but she knew it was bad.Very bad.She could die right here.

Oh god…

The thought nearly made her faint.

She hadn't found her parents yet.She hadn't uncovered the truth of her past. She didn't want to die.

Seeing the trembling, pitiful Skye in front of him, Lu Yi felt a bit confused.

Was he really that terrifying? He hadn't even spoken yet, and she already looked like she'd lost the will to live.

"If you want to kill me, then kill me. I won't surrender!" Skye suddenly shouted.
