Chapter 3 - chapter 3: The Wastelands

[Host has been successfully transmigerated. Welcome to The Wastelands.]

Kal flung his eyes open and tried shielding them from the sunrays. He first saw the system panel before shifting his eyes towards his surroundings. He was lying on a ground of dark red soil with his back towards a simple cabin made of wood. He was surrounded by a wooden fence no taller than his 1.7 m height. His eyes turned to the red sky that had the sun and moon lying next to each other with the red sun taking the front and the crescent moon taking the back.

"Desolation. I've been banished to a cursed hell," Kal lamented as he plopped to the ground in defeat. How was he suppose to live in such a hopeless plain?

Suddenly, Kal saw a shiny multicolored orb he hadn't noticed before and a pool of black ink lying right behind the ball. Wait. It wasn't that he hadn't noticed it before, not with all that ball of brightness hovering a meter above the ground. It just wasn't there from the start.

Kal dragged himself back to his feet in silent expectation and placed the palm of his hand onto the cool surface of the ball prompting a panel to appear.

[Heart of the Lord's territory. It will be the means by which you control everything in your territory except the Pool of Summoning. The following have been given to the host:

Territory

Beginner's Starter Pack

Pool of Summoning(5)

Map of the Region

Dome of Protection

Mission Reward]

Kal nodded to himself recognizing at least more than half of the information. Territory is the piece of land surrounded by a wooden fence he was suppose to develop as its Lord. The Beginner's Starter Pack is... self explanatory. It contained the initial resources to help the Lord during the initial phase.

Pool of Summoning acts as a gateway through which summons are to be called. Map of the Region needs no introduction although it was a pleasant surprise as it usually appeared in the late stages of some of the novels he read appearing as a drop from killing monsters. Dome of Protection should be the shield that will protect Kal's territory from monsters. Usually it lasts for a period of 7 days straight.

As for the Mission Reward? That one is a bit confusing since Kal hadn't done any Mission yet. I guess it is time to experiment. 'Missions' Kal called inwardly and as expected, it worked.

[Missions:

Name territory(5 exp)

Kill monsters (10 exp each kill)

Develop territory(Lord's Gift Pack each upgrade, +100 exp, +10 reputation points)

Conquer Region (Mystery Package)(status: complete)

Conquer Continent (Mystery Pack)

Conquer World (core)]

"...Okay. Baby steps first. Wait. System? How did I complete the 'Conquer Region' Mission?" Kal asked in shocked confusion.

[Host has no opponent in the Region of Desolation. There is no sign of life and other Lords have not been spawned here. As an apology, the Host has been given an additional reward of compensation for sending Host to a Region devoid of life.

Reward: a seed of an multiple fruit tree(needs nothing but time to grow), daily food rations and a bottle of endless water.

Mission Status:

You were the first to Conquer a Region and you've broken a record.

You've gained the Title: Conqueror ( has a passive ability: Fear-inducing aura rank Epic)

You've gained the Grimoire Rank ??

You've gained the Mystery Pack with Mythical rank containing: a Drop of the Fallen.]

"...you know what? Let's just check out the rewards," Kal sighed as he focused on the first thing: the seed.

[Seed of a tree: needs no water to survive. Can even be planted in hell.]

"What damn use is the seed of a tree?!" Kal almost popped a vessel at such outrage. "You damn system throw me into a freaking game, banish me into desolation and now you compensate me with the seed of a tree?! What am I supposed to do with that? Take shelter under the leaves?" At this point, Kal's patience was thinning out dangerously.
