Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Promise

Thinking so much was useless. With Kuro's help, Noah was carried out of the bathtub, naturally wrapping her arms around Kuro's neck, while thinking about her own affairs and saying with a wry smile, "It's hard on you, Kuro, having a useless young lady like me."

"I don't think so," Kuro's answer was always so concise. In fact, although the young lady in front of her had physical defects, in Kuro's eyes, this young lady, who single-handedly promoted the commercialization of the Kielerete Family, possessed a tenacity and ability that ordinary people could not match.

In a barren land like Kazimierz, for two flowers like Margaret Lin-guang and Noah Guillerette to bloom was truly unimaginable.

"Thank you, Kuro." Noah's eyes curved into a smile. Her deep, dark eyes were beautiful and alluring, yet devoid of any light.

What Noah herself probably didn't even realize was that while her childhood appearance might have been slightly inferior to Margaret's, it was a completely different story after she truly blossomed.

At least in Kuro's eyes, she had never seen a girl more beautiful than Noah Guillerette. Her maturity always made people overlook her age. At just barely an adult, she had already single-handedly supported the entire Kielerete Family, and also looked after the Nearl family, with whom they had always had a good relationship.

It must be said, if Noah had been born in a better country, not having to bear such pressure, she might have shone even brighter.

"After things here are settled, how about I take you to Sherag for a trip? I hear the scenery there is quite nice, and they say steam trains have started running.

My friend told me the air quality there is very good, and the water is clean. When I retire, I'll go to Sherag to live out my days."

"How old are you, thinking about retirement already?"

"One always needs to plan an escape route—" Noah said with a smile, "Once everything is over, once Margaret returns, I plan to find a place to live my quiet life."

"As you wish, I'll follow you anyway. Without me, you can't even take care of yourself." Kuro's lips twitched, revealing a subtle smile.

After putting Noah on the bed, she also helped her get dressed. Noah originally wanted to listen to music for a while, but she clearly didn't have that much free time.

Soon, a contact signal came through her headphones, and her expression instantly fell.

"Hello, I'm Noah Guillerette. Oh… Mr. Mackey? All right, I've arranged tomorrow's meeting. Regarding the position of spokesperson for the Commercial Federation, I feel I'm still a bit lacking in talent and knowledge. Would you reconsider? All right, I understand, the board's decision cannot be defied. Then, how about this, we'll discuss it when I go tomorrow. I think there are a few other good candidates; I'll propose them to the board."

On the other end of the phone, Mackey, one of the spokespersons, was also rubbing his temples with a headache.

Noah Guillerette was undoubtedly a rising star in Kazimierz's capital, and as a young person, becoming a spokesperson for the Commercial Federation was itself a ticket to higher spheres.

However, Noah herself strongly refused this assignment. In an era where Knight Competitions were rampant, simply becoming a spokesperson was enough to earn a fortune.

To have the courage to refuse such a lucrative position, Noah probably knew that the spokesperson's job was not just to be a pretty face?

Unfortunately, no matter how much Noah refused this invitation, it was useless. The board had already decided. As a member of the Commercial Federation, Noah had no capital to refuse this job.

Even if Mackey wanted to help, it would be unlikely to exempt her from this obligation, as Mackey also had his own stance.

However, Mackey himself was very much looking forward to working with Noah. They had collaborated a few times, and the companies under Noah's banner rarely had the various procrastinations of large enterprises, and every employee maintained extremely high work enthusiasm.

It was said that the reason for this was simply that Noah was a boss who would strictly pay overtime, and did not demand mandatory overtime from her employees—don't underestimate these two points, which should be taken for granted.

In Kazimierz, companies that adhered to such rules were few and far between, so Noah's companies always had a good reputation.

Mackey had to admit that in Kazimierz, entrepreneurs like Noah were truly a minority within a minority. For example—Noah had never even organized a charity fundraiser.

Hmm… had never organized a charity fundraiser.

Don't misunderstand, she didn't lack the idea of donating, but she had her own independent material distribution process.

Because Noah started her business with delivery and logistics services, she had a very complete logistics system. She basically didn't donate money, but directly distributed needed materials according to a plan to those who needed help.

Compared to those big shots who directly gave large sums of money to avoid taxes, Noah's actions clearly couldn't achieve tax avoidance—so, there was only one possibility.

She was truly concerned about the living conditions of the common people… It was said that she herself had opened several orphanages and even planned to open primary schools.

Such a person was truly out of place with Kazimierz's style, making one suspect that her birth in Kazimierz was a wrong choice.

If someone like her were in Great Yan, or even in Columbia, she might have achieved much greater success than she had now.

Unfortunately, she lived in Kazimierz—

But thinking so much was useless. If nothing unexpected happened, Miss Noah Guillerette would be forced to become the Commercial Federation's front-person tomorrow.

The position of spokesperson seemed like a lucrative job, but in reality, it was just a puppet under the Federation.

Since they intended to put Noah in charge, it indicated that the Commercial Federation indeed saw Noah's commercial value and talent, but did not want such an unstable factor to continue to be so out of control, and thus intended to personally train her.

Mackey's position did not allow her to show sympathy for Miss Noah, but he was a human being after all, so in his personal thoughts, he still hoped that Miss Noah could maintain her true self.

"…I understand. See you tomorrow, good night, Mr. Mackey."

Noah hung up the phone and leaned back on the bed with a helpless expression. Perhaps because she knew it would be difficult to escape the Commercial Federation's control, she could only let out a long sigh and then complained to Kuro.

"I think my retirement time has to be postponed, Kuro."

"Do you need me to do anything?"

"No," Noah shook her head, "I'll see what they can come up with, after all… I still have a promise to keep."
