Chapter 25 - The King’s Riddle

Chapter 25: The King's Riddle

The crystalline chamber, illuminated by the pulse of Atlantis, seemed to hum with life. Leoo and his crew had advanced further than any explorers before them, yet an unmistakable tension filled the water. Every shimmer of light, every ripple of energy, indicated that something far older, far more cunning, awaited them.

Rina whispered, "Captain… the energy patterns… they're different. The city's pulse… it's guiding us toward something… or someone."

Leoo's sharp eyes scanned the chamber, noticing a massive floating crystal in the center, radiating an intensity unlike anything they had encountered. "Then we approach carefully. This… this is the trial the city warned us about."

From the shadows of the pulsing waters, a deep, resonant voice echoed:

"Leoo of the sons of the sea… you have arrived at the threshold. One day you may claim Atlantis, but first, you must answer the riddle of the King. Fail… and your time ends here. Succeed… and the city reveals its deepest secrets."

The crew exchanged uneasy glances. Rina whispered, "Captain… it's him. The King… the guardian of this domain. Only one who can solve his riddle may proceed."

Leoo's grin was sharp, though his eyes betrayed concentration. "Then we solve it. Together."

The voice continued, echoing through the chamber:

"I am not seen, yet I follow all.

I move with the tides, yet I am not water.

I speak in silence, yet my message is clear.

What am I, and how will you use me to reach the core?"

Tobias immediately began analyzing the energy fluctuations, while Rina scanned the glyphs surrounding the crystal for hidden hints. Selene stabilized the Mercury, anticipating any sudden currents or traps.

Leoo muttered, "Not just a riddle of intellect… it tests intuition, perception, and strategy. The city itself is observing our approach."

Hours passed. The pulse of Atlantis intensified with each hypothesis the crew offered. Shadows shifted, platforms moved, and guardians emerged to test their focus. Rice's presence became increasingly apparent. His ship maneuvered through a concealed channel, directing minor surges of energy to create distractions, attempting to pressure the crew into mistakes.

Leoo's voice cut through the chaos: "Ignore him! Focus on the riddle! Every distraction he creates is part of the test."

Rina's eyes widened as she noticed a subtle pattern in the reflections. "Captain… the King's riddle isn't just words—it's energy, timing, and alignment. We must act, not just think."

Leoo nodded. "Then we move. Synchronize with the pulse, with each other… and with the city itself."

The crew executed a precise alignment of crystals, conduits, and Mercury's position. Energy beams reflected perfectly, shadows aligned, and the city responded, pulsating in approval.

The crystal at the center of the chamber began to rotate slowly, revealing hidden inscriptions—directions, coordinates, and hints leading deeper into Atlantis. The King's voice echoed again:

"Well done, Leoo. Few possess the courage to harmonize with the pulse, intelligence to perceive the unseen, and patience to endure the test. Proceed, and claim knowledge that will change the tides of the sea."

Rina gasped. "Captain… the chamber… it's revealing the core's secrets. Maps, guardian patterns… even hidden energy sources."

Leoo's gaze hardened. "Then we move deeper. Knowledge is power, but Rice… he will not let this stand."

As they advanced, the water rippled violently. Above, Rice launched a coordinated strike, combining currents, energy surges, and illusions to distract and destabilize. The city's guardians surged aggressively toward the intrusion, forcing Rice to retreat temporarily.

Leoo's eyes narrowed. "He's clever, but the King's test has strengthened us. Atlantis guides our moves now."

The chamber opened into a massive corridor, lined with crystalline projections and ancient glyphs depicting lost cities, guardian hierarchies, and energy networks. The King's riddle had granted them insight into Atlantis' deepest secrets—knowledge that could guide their journey to the ultimate core.

Rina whispered, "Captain… we have an edge now. But Rice… he will escalate. We must be ready for anything."

Leoo nodded. "Then we prepare. Every trial we face, every pulse we synchronize with, every secret we uncover… it brings us closer to mastering Atlantis and facing Rice head-on."

Above, a ripple of water signaled Rice's frustration. His attempts to manipulate the labyrinth and the King's challenge had failed. The pulse of Atlantis itself repelled him, leaving him to rethink his strategy.

Leoo turned to his crew, pride and determination in his eyes. "We've survived the King's riddle. Atlantis acknowledges our worth. But remember… the path ahead is filled with danger, revelations, and the ever-present shadow of Rice. The real test begins now."

The pulse of Atlantis resonated through every stone, crystal, and current. The crew braced themselves, knowing that the next trials would be far more dangerous, and the presence of Rice would loom larger than ever.

The King's words echoed faintly as they advanced deeper into the chamber:

"Only those who harmonize with the sea, the pulse, and their own hearts may uncover the truth. Choose wisely, for the tides of fate are unforgiving."

The chamber shimmered, the corridors extended into darkness, and Atlantis' heartbeat accelerated—signaling that the journey into the city's ultimate

mysteries, and the confrontation with Rice, had only just begun.
