Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: The Otsutsuki Clan… What Is That?

But Kaede Kitahara said that this world would need the two of us to save it?

Did that mean I'm also some kind of savior?

Uchiha Sasuke didn't dare push his thoughts in that direction. No matter how he looked at the information he had right now, his future self would become a missing-nin.

A missing-nin becoming a savior?

Did that make any sense?

Fighting aliens?

What even were aliens?

This was clearly far beyond anything Uchiha Sasuke could comprehend.

At the same time, Uchiha Itachi was also focused on this part.

"Forming bonds… Asura and Indra… every generation is like this? Loving and killing each other?" Itachi tried to piece together a thread from these descriptions.

Based on earlier information, he now understood that Asura and Indra seemed to be identities of some kind, passed down generation after generation.

From the idea that every generation of Asura and Indra ended up in a cycle of love and conflict, it suggested that Asura and Indra always appeared in the same era.

The Indra of the previous era was Uchiha Madara. Asura was likely the ninja who could rival him, the God of Shinobi, Senju Hashirama, Konoha's First Hokage.

In this era, Asura should be Uzumaki Naruto, and Indra would be Sasuke.

Many of the things surrounding them also matched the old tradition of love and conflict Kaede Kitahara had mentioned.

And in the future, the two of them seemed destined to become saviors.

If Uzumaki Naruto being a savior was already shocking enough, then Uchiha Sasuke possibly being one as well left Itachi both stunned and deeply relieved.

It was also very plausible. If Asura and Indra were opposing identities, then the two would likely reach similar levels of strength.

If their power differed too greatly, it couldn't be called love and conflict at all.

However, Itachi soon recalled that future scene, where Uchiha Sasuke ended up working with someone who claimed to be Uchiha Madara. Could it be that the identities of Asura and Indra were inheritable, passed down or designated by the previous generation?

If that wasn't the case, many questions would be difficult to explain.

But if that were true, then another problem arose. What were the criteria for selection?

The strength of Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama was beyond doubt. One was the God of Shinobi, the other the Ninja World Asura. As for Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke, they would later reach a level capable of saving the world, which meant their strength would not be lacking either.

Viewed this way, the inheritance and selection of these two identities was most likely based on potential.

Then there were the even more critical hints revealed later.

Aliens.

What were aliens?

Kaede Kitahara had mentioned aliens more than once, but within Itachi's current understanding of the world, the concept was hard to grasp.

Not to mention things like piloting a Gundam and fighting aliens. Still, one thing was certain. If Kaede Kitahara described them as outrageous, then these so-called aliens had to be terrifyingly strong, far stronger than anyone currently in the ninja world.

But how strong, exactly?

Stronger than the leader of the Akatsuki?

Stronger than that existence capable of wiping out Konoha with a single move?

There were simply too many unknowns.

Another key term also caught Itachi's attention: internal conflict within the Otsutsuki family.

Otsutsuki.

The last time that name appeared was Otsutsuki Ichiraku.

Could these aliens actually refer to the Otsutsuki?

And what role did Otsutsuki Ichiraku play in all of this?

Aliens, possibly the so-called Otsutsuki Clan.

Itachi quietly committed this to memory.

Kaede Kitahara had also described himself as a pureblood native of the ninja world. If that was the case, then there must be non-purebloods as well.

What would those be like?

There were simply too many unknowns.

Still, when Itachi read the line about how anything he couldn't figure out must be Shimura Danzo's scheme, he couldn't help but laugh.

Kaede Kitahara clearly harbored deep hostility toward Danzo. Perhaps because he had been hunted by Danzo's Root squads before.

Come to think of it, Itachi himself had never had a good impression of Shimura Danzo either, especially considering that in the future, Danzo nearly killed Sasuke.

That was something Itachi could never tolerate. If there were a ranking in his heart, Sasuke would likely rank even above the village itself.

At the same time, Itachi was also curious about how Kaede Kitahara was able to see those future fragments at all.

Was it some kind of special ninjutsu?

Or an unknown supernatural ability?

Over the years, Itachi had seen all manner of strange things in the ninja world. He had heard that in the Land of Demons, there was a priestess capable of predicting the future.

Could Kaede Kitahara's ability be similar to that of the priestess of the Land of Demons?

As for Kaede Kitahara's later rant about the cruelty of the ninja world, it didn't stir much reaction from him. He had long since grown accustomed to seeing such things.

Still, if there were a world where children didn't have to go to the battlefield, what a beautiful world that would be.

Before he could dwell on it further, another video appeared in the diary. He quickly opened it.

A gray, hazy scene unfolded, two figures facing each other.

Hatake Kakashi, and Momochi Zabuza, his back pinned down by several dogs biting into him.

"Those dogs… are they Kakashi-senpai's summoned beasts?" Uchiha Itachi recalled the missions he had once carried out alongside Hatake Kakashi. He had seen Kakashi's summons before. They were indeed ninja dogs.

But they were different from the ninja dogs of the Inuzuka Clan.

This had to be the second battle Kaede Kitahara mentioned.

"Zabuza, you're getting ahead of yourself," Hatake Kakashi said coldly, staring at Momochi Zabuza. "Your ambition was far too great. You tried to assassinate the Mizukage, your coup failed, and all you could do was flee into the wilderness with a handful of subordinates, becoming a fugitive ninja."

"Your name soon spread to Konoha as well. To gather funds for revenge, and to escape the pursuit and retaliation of Kirigakure's Anbu, for reasons like those, you actually chose to associate with a pest like Gato."

"Zabuza, do you really think I survived until now relying only on the Sharingan? Then I'll show you this time, not copied techniques, but my own jutsu." Hatake Kakashi's voice was utterly indifferent.

As he spoke, Kakashi began forming hand seals. In his palm, a sphere of lightning flickered into existence.

"Raikiri!"

The moment he saw it, Momochi Zabuza was shocked. Clearly, his intelligence never mentioned that Hatake Kakashi could use Raikiri.

"How is this possible… chakra that's visible to the naked eye?" Zabuza exclaimed.

"You're too dangerous. The man you want to kill, Tazuna, is this country's courage. The bridge Tazuna is building is this country's hope. For the sake of your ambition, countless people would be sacrificed. That's not what a ninja should do."

Hatake Kakashi pronounced his judgment.
