Chapter 54 - Eyes Everywhere

Uneasy Calm

The café had quieted down after lunch, but the tension didn't leave. Draven lingered near the entrance, watching the street like a predator, while Aiven cleaned tables with distracted movements.

"They're still out there," Aiven whispered, glancing at a group of fans peeking through the windows.

Draven's jaw tightened. "They're testing boundaries. It's only a matter of time before someone tries something reckless."

Aiven nodded, anxiety pressing on his chest. "I just… I hate how they look at you."

Draven softened slightly, brushing a stray lock of hair from Aiven's forehead. "I'm here. Nothing's happening while I'm around."

Messages in the Shadows

Draven's phone buzzed with a new message from Zenith.

Zenith: You holding up?

Draven: Barely. They're everywhere.

Zenith: Stay calm. We'll handle it together. I'll check on you later.

Draven exhaled, tension easing just slightly. Zenith's presence—even from a distance—was grounding.

Close Call

Minutes later, a fan tried to sneak closer to the café entrance, phone in hand. Draven stepped in instantly, body blocking the path.

"You can't come in here," he said firmly.

The fan's eyes widened, startled by the intensity in Draven's gaze. "I… I just—"

"You're done," Draven cut him off, his tone leaving no room for argument. The fan stepped back, muttering, and Aiven quickly ushered him inside the back exit.

Aiven's hand trembled slightly as he closed the door. "Thank you," he whispered.

Draven glanced at him. "Always."

Private Assurance

Once the café emptied, the two walked together under the dim streetlights. The city seemed quieter at night, but the tension still lingered.

Aiven finally spoke. "I feel like… we're being watched all the time. I don't want to be scared of going out."

Draven stopped and took his hand. "You don't have to. We'll navigate this together. Fans, rumors, everything. I won't let anything happen to you."

Aiven leaned against him, a small sigh escaping. "Thank you… I don't know what I'd do without you."

Draven's thumb brushed across his knuckles. "You won't ever have to find out. I'm not going anywhere."

The night passed quietly after that, but the unspoken understanding between them was heavy with tension and promise. They were safe for now—but the storm was still out there, waiting.
