Chapter 13 - Counter Kill

"Look, I have no enmity against you," Aeron calmly said. "I don't want to kill innocents, and I am not a harbinger or whatever."

"Almighty Raal personally showed the whole world that a Harbinger had arrived last night and gave us the fortune of ridding the world of you." The woman spoke, her palms open and facing the sky as she showed an ardent expression. "Almighty Raal is the way of life."

"Kill him."

One of the cavalrymen rushed at Aeron with his spear, aiming straight at his throat.

Aeron didn't move a single step. He just looked at the man and woman on the chariot, his eyes hesitant, uncertain, and confused.

Crack! Clack!

The spear hit Aeron's throat, but instead of piercing him, its tip shattered as if it had struck a diamond rather than flesh.

"You can't kill me." Aeron pointed his hand at the woman. "Don't force me to kill you."

These people were weak. None of them had stats above 50, while he had over 100.

"Just go."

However, Aeron's words were met with contempt.

"You filthy harbinger! ARE YOU TELLING US TO ABANDON ALMIGHTY RAAL'S HOLY TASK?!" the woman screamed like an evil witch.

"If spears and swords don't work, then how about this?" A bald man with a magic staff, who stood in front of the woman's chariot and wore clothes different from the other soldiers, coldly uttered before pointing his staff at Aeron.

A fireball began whirling into existence. It grew bigger and bigger until it reached a radius of two meters before hurling toward Aeron.

BOOM!

Seeing Aeron engulfed in raging flames, the man on the chariot commanded, "Cavalry! Go inside and kill the villagers! Remember, not a single life must be left alive!"

Neighhh!

The horses neighed as their riders rushed into the village.

But the moment they crossed the gate, bullets rained on them as Aeron swept his arm with precision, his eyes coldly locking onto the warriors on horseback through the flames raging around him.

Death Bullets.

Not a single bullet hit a horse. All bullets struck the warriors, piercing their armor easily and boring holes into their chests as they began bleeding.

But none of them were dead.

"Stop this madness!" Aeron shouted as he stomped his foot hard, creating a gust of wind that snuffed out the flames before his clothes, as he did not want to stand naked.

"Who the fuck is Raal?! What did those villagers do to you or him?!"

Just as Aeron finished speaking, a mind-numbing chill penetrated his body.

The wildfire burning all of the village's walls suddenly went out, as if someone had blown a silent wind.

"Apostle!" the woman shouted while looking up.

Aeron also looked up and saw a crimson orb descending into the village at a speed that was neither too fast nor too slow.

It arrived and descended in utter silence.

In the next moment, the night turned into day for one second.

BOOOOM!

A devastating shockwave spread outward, blasting everyone and everything.

Aeron was flung over a hundred meters, feeling a rattling shock run throughout his body.

The others were not as lucky. Everyone within a hundred meters of the village died instantly.

Aeron got up from the ground, his head pounding and his body aching all over.

A moment later, clarity returned, and his heart turned cold.

He no longer felt the connection to his warhog. If that monster didn't survive, then all the villagers…

'Fuck, fuck, fuck!'

Danger bells rang in his mind, his heart beating thousands of times per second.

'I have to survive.'

He quickly got up.

'I have to run.'

"Now, now, where are you going?"

The instant Aeron heard the voice, his body reacted.

He instantly aimed in the direction of the voice and unleashed bullets.

Despair Bullets.

All one hundred bullets struck this so-called Apostle in a crimson-black robe with green-patterned black wings.

"Was that supposed to scratch my itch?" the Apostle raised his eyebrows.

Aeron looked at him as he calmed down, his mind optimizing to the circumstances. His eyes turned icy, cold rage oozing from them.

"Why?" Aeron's voice cracked. "Why are you killing people like that? What is wrong with you?"

He wanted to know. He wanted to know who the fuck Raal was, and why he was a Harbinger.

Why did people have to die just for being in his presence and talking to him?

The Apostle's eyes turned furious as he grinned angrily. "How dare you look at me like that. There is nothing wrong with us! You, who came here bearing destruction, must die for the peace of this world!"

Pointing his hand at Aeron, he said, "Begone."

A crimson spear crackling with black lightning shot toward Aeron.

Aeron didn't move an inch and didn't even blink.

All he did was fire a round of bullets at the Apostle while ignoring the incoming attack.

Doom Bullet.

The Apostle, who had been floating, suddenly fell in shock, unable to move an inch.

Meanwhile, his spear shattered the moment it touched Aeron.

"IMPOSSIBLE!" The Apostle's eyes were filled with disbelief as he witnessed the impossible. "Your aura is clearly weak! Far weaker than mine!"

Aeron walked toward him slowly, his ice-cold eyes boring into the Apostle's gaze. "But you are strong."

Despair Bullets had reduced the Apostle's defense by 100% and added it to Aeron.

He felt no danger whatsoever after that, so he knew he was safe.

Aeron picked up a stick from the ground and pierced the Apostle's hands.

"Arghh!"

The Apostle panicked. "Im-Impossible! How could this hurt me?! I have the divine protection of Almighty Raal's Talisman!"

'No wonder my defense increased so much. Did I steal the defense he got from the talisman, too?' Aeron was surprised. 'Despair Bullet is good. Suitable to its name.'

"Speak," Aeron said as he stomped on the Apostle's head. "Who the fuck is Raal, and what is this world? What is a harbinger, and what problem do you have with me?!"

As he finished speaking, Aeron shot a few bullets into the Apostle's other limbs as he cried out in pain.

"The faster you speak, the quicker you'll gain freedom."

Aeron's eyes glinted coldly. Naturally, he meant freedom from pain with death because he was not going to let this piece of trash leave.
