Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Heir of a Pure Blood Family

Chapter 1: Heir of a Pure Blood Family

The room was quiet, and the last fading rays of the sun streamed in through the open windows, casting a golden ring on the floor.

In the corner near the window, a spider quietly crawled out of the shadows, hanging from the spider silk, and deftly landed on a desk full of sundries. It stayed on the edge of the desk for a moment, and then it noticed the boy who was leaning over the desk and writing hard. After a bit of hesitation, it moved its eight long legs and crawled towards the wall, preparing to stay away from this behemoth.

However, the next second, the sound of flapping wings suddenly sounded in the room, and an owl swooped straight in from the window, rushing towards the spider that was about to leave like lightning. The boy lying on the table was taken aback, and when he looked up at the owl, it had already returned to its cage hanging by the table, combing its feathers leisurely.

"I've never heard of owls eating spiders." The boy muttered, put the half-written letter aside, and stretched out his hand to the owl in the cage. The latter raised its clawed feet so that the boy could remove the letter tied around its ankle.

The envelope was brown and read "Ivan Vesemir".

Ivan turned it over, and there was a wax seal, a coat of arms, and a capital "H" surrounded by a lion, an eagle, a badger, and a snake.

Without showing any joy, Ivan stared at the "H" letter for a while, and then slowly pulled out the letter.

"Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore

(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Mr. Vesemir,

We were pleased to receive your letter, but we regret to inform you that you do not meet the admission requirements of our school."

Seeing this, Ivan has no interest in continuing to read.

He sighed in disappointment, casually threw the letter on a stack of thick books, and leaned on the back of the chair in a daze. After a while, the boy shook his head, straightened up, stuffed the letter back into the open envelope, and put it back on the table.

Staring at the familiar logo on the envelope, Ivan only felt a tightness in his chest.

The sliver of hope that was initially held was shattered entirely after this attempt.

I thought that after accidentally ending up in this world where magic existed, I would also gain access to this magical power, but I didn't expect that I had no talent for magic at all.

It would be fine if I were born in a Muggle family, and there is no possibility of being exposed to magic in this life. Even if I accidentally encounter a wizard who is casting a spell, the relevant memories will be erased, just out of sight and out of mind.

He was born in a wizard family, a well-known pure-blood family in the UK, and even had some kinship with the "Sacred Twenty-Eight Clan".

His father, Jon Vesemir, also holds a high position in the British Ministry of Magic. He is the director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement for Fantastic Beasts.

It is hard to imagine that public opinion would not be shocked when it was revealed that the only son of the current head of the Ministry of Magic was a disgraceful Squib.

During that period, Mr. Vesemir was chased and followed by groups of reporters nearly every day, and he was even pursued at his doorstep once. If it were not for the existence of the "International Statute of Secrecy," those fanatic wizard reporters would probably have revealed themselves.

Ivan was lying in a small alcove by the second-floor room's window, looking out. He immediately recognised that the woman rushing to the front was Rita Skeeter, a writer for the "Daily Prophet". The person was knocked off, but she didn't care; her face was full of excitement.

Because she got the only positive response from Director Jon Vesemir to this matter: "Get out of my house! Don't disturb my family with this nonsense!"

Afterwards, Rita Skeeter exaggerated this incident, and it appeared on the front page of the "Daily Prophet." Over the following fortnight, nearly daily, numerous letters were sent. When they arrived at Vesemir's house, most accused Director Vesemir of his "vulgar behaviour" towards reporters, while a handful of anonymous letters launched various personal attacks on Ivan, believing he had "lost face" with the pureblood families.

During this period, the frequent presence of owls even alarmed a TV station. It is said they specifically produced a program for this purpose. The unsettled Vesemir family chose to move and bought a house in the Muggle community in London, and the situation gradually improved.

Ivan understood that the Vesemirs chose the Muggle community to avoid the overwhelming number of owls and that they hoped he could integrate into Muggle society without suffering discrimination in the wizarding world.

The kindness of the Vesemirs deeply moved Ivan. After careful thought, Ivan also decided to make one last effort before his eleventh birthday: to use his family's owl to contact Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He wrote a letter, hoping for help and advice.

"It's completely over now."

Ivan sighed and stopped thinking about these things. With the road ahead already cut off, it's time for him, with an adult soul, to shift his goal to things other than magic. Maybe he can use magic props to satisfy his curiosity in the future, but this will only be after-dinner entertainment.

The boy cleaned up the messy table, put Dumbledore's reply in a book, and left the room.
