Chapter 4 - In The Lot

'I should've just stayed still and didn't do anything! Yet this body just moved on its own!'

As much as he wanted to curse, it couldn't be denied the rice just became porridge. Nothing he could do about it, so might as well move on to the panel before him.

The passive skill detects anyone with the potential to save the world and gives him a quest to recruit them.

There was no penalty for not recruiting them, which made him more furious of himself for putting his nose where it shouldn't belong.

His original plan in this world is to live peacefully after being reincarnated. His previous life was far from normal, after all.

He wanted to cry that his goal was beyond his reach.

'What on earth is Starbeads?'

[Answer: Starbeads are the points you used to gacha. You can convert them into Ethergems!]

A robotic male voice filled his mind, answering his question.

'A voice, and it came from my mind? What the heck is going on?'

He expected an answer, but there was none. He could only focus on his current predicament.

A superhuman chasing him at a terrifying speed. He could feel his hair stood on edge as the hero got closer, itching to rip apart his limbs.

Looking around for a way as he prepared to teleport.

His vision changed. Everything turned gray, and the buildings became transparent, only showing lines of blocks as though he was inside of a 3D program.

He saw a range indicator in the shape of himself. The range maxed out at ten meters. He can adjust the range to his will.

Looking down at a nearby building, he sees himself beyond the solid block.

Without thinking much further, he disintegrated himself before materializing inside.

The hero stopped chasing as Halvor simply vanished.

'We should be safe now.' he sighed out of relief and was about to put the two down when all of a sudden, the wall behind him exploded.

His instinct acted quickly as he teleported out of the building. He didn't stop teleporting, and within moments, he traveled ten kilometers, and stopped at the peak of a skyscraper.

The entire city could be seen. The lights glittering like the stars above.

"Ha… ha…" He collapsed as he devoured the air. Using teleportation like that used a lot of his stamina. It felt like he just ran five kilometres without stopping.

Adding the fact the body is weaker than his body in the previous world, and he forgot about that, accidentally putting the body to the limit, it felt like rope tightening his chest, and his stomach feeling hot, lifting the insides to his mouth.

His facial expression changed blue as his cheek puffed, but he endured himself from vomiting as he swallowed it again.

He wanted to get up, but his limbs were trembling pathetically. He clicked his tongue for his weakness.

"If not for the weak body, I would've fought that guy."

"Even if you're strong, you will not be able to defeat me." A voice creeping up from behind.

All strength drained from his body, but he put up a facade and turned around.

The hero floated majestically as he looked down on him. His eyes were empty and barren.

Halvor then said calmly without standing up, "How about we make a deal?"

As he was talking, Halvor summoned a panel in his thoughts. At first he thought it wouldn't work, but lo and behold, a holographic table showing his skills popped up.

"A deal? Why must I do that? I could kill you easily."

"You're not going to kill someone weaker than you, right? As far as I am concerned, your target is this guy, not him," he pointed at the youth, "Just look at him. He's quite weak to be a nightcrawler, yes?"

Halvor quietly continued his plan.

As he only used one skill slot which is teleportation, he promptly equipped another skill, recovery.

He wasn't sure how this works, but with a thought, his body felt a cool sensation and he could sense that his exhaustion was fading away.

"Give him six months, and we shall meet here again. Rip him apart, tear him to pieces, feed him to the pigs. Anything you want."

As he spoke, his trembling legs, his churning stomach, his ears which rang continuously. All receded like waves.

"No, in those six months he will eat the innocent."

Halvor abruptly chuckled and said sharply, "Cut the bullshit, you think I didn't see you smiling?"

As the hero cut the Nightcrawler's hand, a sinister smile flashed through. One would've thought that smile came from the devil himself.

"You enjoyed seeing them in pain. You couldn't care less about the life of others. If given a chance between torturing a Nightcrawler or saving a friend, you wouldn't hesitate to hop the wagon and play with it."

The hero stayed silent, before quickly flying at Halvor.

The latter put the Freeze skill to his skill slot. As he was activating it, his hand felt cold and stiff, but nowhere painful.

In an instant, his hand was covered with blue ice. Cold mist lingered as he took a breath out.

The hero's eyes widened in surprise, and before he could process what he's seeing, Halvor vanished from the spot and appeared next to him.

The hero's inhuman reflex allowed him to react as he punched Halvor, but the latter vanished once more to behind him.

Due to the inertia from the last punch, the hero couldn't do much as Halvor used his skill.

A blue beam of cold particles was launched from his hand and devoured the distracted hero. In an instant, he was frozen.

With a push to the ground, the solid iced hero will die as he turns into shrapnels.

"I don't know if you can still hear me or not. The deal is still there. Move your eyes to the left if you agree. If you don't, your life ends here.

"You have about five minutes before your body ceases to function. More than that, well, let's just say you'll be no different than an ice sculpture."

Although he was frozen solid, his eyes could still move.

The hero looked at Halvor for a few moments, and before long, he looked to the left.

"Excellent choice." Halvor touched the hero and ice melted, forming a puddle of water.

The hero looked Halvor in the eye.

"Six months, oh also, keep my identity a secret, okay? Or I'll destroy the city." Halvor's voice was playful, but no doubt it hints at maliciousness.

The hero didn't say anything, so Halvor quickly added, "I never get your name."

"Call me Featman."

"Claire Halvor."

The hero floats to the sky. His voice was deep as he said, "You'll regret your decision not to kill me."

He launched to the sky, producing a sonic boom. His figure vanished into the distance.

"We'll see if you're right about that, Featman." Halvor smiled as his eyes on Featman's disappeared figure.

Turning around, his eyes widened a bit. He was surprised that the Nightcrawler was wide awake.

"Did you see everything?"

The Nightcrawler nodded with terrified eyes.

"Can you keep it a secret?"

"Y-yes, your Highness."

"Thank you, wait what?"
