Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: That Day, People Remembered...

The trio was startled to see Roy and Ryuu. What was it about these two? They walked so silently.

Caught discussing others, Armin quickly apologized, "We are very sorry, we didn't mean to."

"It's nothing, nothing!"

The trio was only about ten years old at this time. Roy was much taller than them, and he placed his hands on Eren and Armin's heads, messing up their hair.

Eren struggled to push Roy away. "What do you want? We don't have any money for you."

Roy smiled, turned to leave, and said,

"Something is about to happen inside the Walls. Hurry back, be with your family, and run as far away as you can."

"What was wrong with that person?"

Looking at the backs of Roy and Ryuu, the trio exchanged glances, but a sense of foreboding settled in their hearts.

Boom!

A few minutes later, accompanied by a deafening roar that shook the sky, a blinding golden lightning bolt descended from the heavens, blossoming outside the colossal Wall.

It was as if a great earthquake had struck. People living inside the Walls could feel the intense tremor.

When people raised their heads and looked towards the source of the sound.

A giant, hairless head appeared on the fifty-meter-high Wall, like a colossal god from a myth, its eyes staring down at them, the tiny ants.

Ryuu's lips parted slightly. Using the Wall's height as a comparison, this Titan was at least sixty meters tall. It was rare to see such a monster even in the Dungeon.

Bang!!

The Colossal Titan raised its foot high and kicked the Wall's main gate, blowing it to pieces. Countless stone fragments flew out and rained down towards the city.

A continuous series of massive roars followed. The stone fragments, carried by a powerful rush of wind, crashed into houses, streets, and other places. Many people were killed instantly, and those who narrowly survived were paralyzed with fear and sat on the ground.

"The outer gate of Shiganshina District has been breached!"

"The Titans are coming in! Run for your lives!"

...

Frantic shouts erupted everywhere inside the Wall. Everyone was fleeing in disorganized panic.

In contrast to the fleeing masses, two figures dashed toward the breached gate, attracting many curious onlookers. Whose subordinates are these...

Roy and Ryuu passed through the chaotic crowd and arrived at the very front of the broken gate.

A large group of Pure Titans appeared before their eyes. Their sizes varied, between fifteen and three meters, and their appearances were, without exception, extremely hideous.

Roy used a running start and leaped onto a rooftop. Ryuu was the main force for the Titan subjugation; he would, at most, deal with some of the three- or four-meter-class Titans.

Compared to the fleeing ordinary people, Ryuu, who was facing the Titans head-on, immediately drew the attention of the Pure Titans.

Over ten Titans surged toward the Elven girl.

A Titan of about twelve meters was the first to extend its large hand, reaching to grab the Elven girl, casting a shadow that covered the surroundings.

"Too slow!"

Ryuu's sky-blue eyes reflected the Titan's large hand. This speed was inferior to the monsters on the lower levels of the Dungeon. Just as Roy had said, the only advantage these Titans had was their size. The ones to watch out for were the Abnormal Titans.

Just as the Titan's large hand was about to seize Ryuu, she flipped and easily jumped onto the back of its hand. Her slender legs instantly exerted force, charging up the Titan's arm.

In the blink of an eye, she flashed past like a gust of wind.

In theory, two swords are needed to slice through a Pure Titan's nape, but the Elven girl, relying on her superhuman strength, sliced across the Titan's nape with her wooden sword, the sharp edge severing its entire head.

Boom!

The colossal head smashed onto the ground.

The Elven girl's graceful figure was suspended mid-air. She rapidly swung her wooden sword, slicing the nape area of the Titan into countless pieces, utterly killing it.

During this process, the blood spurting out of the Pure Titan like a fountain inevitably landed on the Elven girl, covering her in blood.

The stench of blood was overwhelming, which was unbearable for the hygiene-conscious Elf.

"Roy..."

The Elven girl gritted her teeth, striking the Pure Titans even harder, showing no mercy.

Seeing the Elven girl's face as black as a soot-covered pot, Roy felt a sense of dread. He quietly withdrew his gaze, forcing his attention onto the Titans.

Ryuu attracted most of the Pure Titans, but three or four of them surrounded Roy, clinging to the walls of the houses, attempting to climb up and grab him.

Roy zeroed in on a small, three-meter-class Titan, his eyes burning with fervor. The instance quest rewarded 30~100 Status Points based on the Titan's physical capability.

Theoretically, to maximize profit, he should let Ryuu kill the larger Titans or Abnormal Titans.

Killing the three-meter-class small Titan would purely reduce the reward, but Roy didn't see it that way. He needed to seize every opportunity to grow stronger. Fighting the Titans would also boost his abilities and battle experience.

Roy jumped off the rooftop, landing on the shoulder of the three-meter Titan that was about to climb up.

Before the Titan could react, Roy swung his Muramasa Sword, executing a spin-kick slash across the back of its neck. The wound was deep enough to expose bone.

Bang!

The small Titan heavily slammed onto the ground. It struggled briefly, then fell silent, emitting plumes of steam.

[Successfully killed a 3.1-meter Titan, gained 30 Status Points!]

In the middle of the battlefield, Roy did not hesitate, waving his hand to allocate all the points to Agility.

[Agility (DEX): 9 → 39 (I)]

A Titan of about seven meters appeared behind Roy, clasping its hands together, trying to grab him.

Wind-Stepping!

Roy's mind moved, activating the special effect of the Wind-Chasing Boots. His Agility attribute immediately soared towards Rank A. He charged forward, executing a slide that took him through the seven-meter Titan's legs.

The Muramasa Sword, which could slice through iron like mud, easily severed the Achilles tendon of this Titan's right foot. Its body immediately tilted and crashed into the house on its right.

Roy rushed up and hacked the nape of the Titan into a bloody mess. Pungent blood sprayed all over him, and his face took on the same expression as Ryuu's.

Compared to Ryuu, his feeling was a mix of disgust and pleasure.

[Successfully killed a 7.5-meter Titan, gained 52 Status Points]

[Agility (DEX): 39 → 91 (I)]

[Strength (STR): 18 → 25 (I)]

[Endurance (END): 36 → 38 (I)]

[Dexterity (AGL): 600 → 601 (C)]

Roy once again allocated the gained Status Points to Agility. Other attributes also increased due to the combat, but not as significantly as through direct allocation.

Fight to grow, every Titan kill would boost his ability scores, and the subsequent battles would allow his body to rapidly adapt to the increased strength.

Compared to his difficult elimination of two Pure Titans, Ryuu in the distance had already taken down over a dozen Titans, including several Abnormal Titans, leaving corpses scattered everywhere.

Roy glanced over. Titans over ten meters were roughly LV.2, and Abnormal Titans were LV.2 with specialized single attributes. Due to their slow movement and the weakness at the nape, Ryuu, an LV.4, was killing them with exceptional ease.

Just then, Roy's pupils slightly contracted. Amidst the chaotic crowd, he saw two familiar figures. "Looks like we're about to hit the jackpot this time!"
