Chapter 44 - CORALINE

Giorgia's arrival was the last thing anyone expected in Japan. Security had tried to stop her at the entrance of the clinic, but she insisted, trembling, her voice cracking every time she repeated the same sentence: "I'm not here to cause trouble… I just need to talk."

When Damiano finally stepped into the hallway, her eyes filled with tears instantly.

Giorgia: "Damiano… please. I'm not here for attention. I'm not here to make things worse."

He stayed silent, arms crossed, jaw tense but not hostile.

Giorgia: "I came to apologize to both of you. To Aaliyah… and to you."

Damiano: "…Why now?"

Giorgia: "Because I finally understand. Our relationship had been dying long before she appeared. I held onto something that wasn't alive anymore. I blamed her… when the truth is, we were already over."

For a moment, Damiano finally exhaled.

He didn't forgive her entirely, not yet — but the wound she represented no longer bled.

Damiano: "Aaliyah deserves to hear that too. And you'll tell her when she's ready."

Giorgia nodded, wiping her tears before leaving quietly, almost weightless — as if releasing years of resentment.

Estrella's Moment

Inside the room, Aaliyah sat in her hospital bed with trembling hands.

A nurse approached with a soft smile.

Nurse: "Aaliyah… your daughter is ready. You can hold her now."

Aaliyah's breath shattered into a gasp. The world slowed down completely as the nurse placed the small, warm, fragile baby against her chest.

Aaliyah broke down immediately.

Aaliyah: "Estrella… my baby… oh my God…"

Her tears fell onto the baby's hair — tiny, delicate, perfect.

Damiano stood behind her, hands on her shoulders, completely undone.

Damiano: "You did it, amore… she's here… and she's fighting."

For the first time since the chaos began, the room felt like home.

The Betrayal from Italy

But peace never lasted long.

A phone notification lit up Damiano's screen.

A message from the band's lawyer:

"We found the source.

The leak to the Italian media came from someone close to you."

Damiano's heart froze.

Damiano: "Who the hell…?"

Lawyer: texting back "Someone you trusted. I'm sending details now."

The file opened.

Damiano's face drained completely.

Damiano: "…No. This can't be real."

Someone in Italy — someone he considered a friend — had been feeding the media information that put Aaliyah's life at risk.

And now, they knew exactly who.

The Journalist Returns

That same night, the Japanese journalist who had been snooping weeks earlier tried again — this time slipping past the outer gate disguised as a delivery worker.

He reached the hallway before Dylan appeared, blocking him like a brick wall.

Dylan: "Try it again… and you won't be walking out."

Journalist: "I only want a photo—"

Dylan: "Leave. Now."

Security dragged him out, his camera confiscated.

But the threat was real — he knew too much.

Japan Falls in Love

Days later, a nurse unknowingly recorded a clip that changed everything:

Aaliyah holding Estrella, smiling weakly, singing softly in Italian while Damiano stood behind her whispering harmony.

It was peaceful.

Pure.

Beautiful.

The video went viral in Japan within hours.

"The Miracle Family"

"The Italian singer and the American mother healing together"

"Baby Estrella, symbol of hope"

For the first time, they weren't headlines of scandal.

They were headlines of love.

"You're my muse… my Coraline."

That night, Aaliyah rested in bed while Damiano sat beside her, watching Estrella sleep in her crib.

He leaned close to Aaliyah's forehead.

Damiano: "I need to tell you something."

Aaliyah: "What is it?"

Damiano: "I've spent my life writing for pain, chaos, anger… but you—"

He brushed his knuckles over her cheek.

Damiano: "—you're the first woman who ever gave me a story worth saving. A story worth fighting for."

Aaliyah blinked, breath trembling.

Aaliyah: "Damiano…"

Damiano: "You're my muse, Aaliyah. My Coraline."

She covered her mouth as tears slid down her face — not from fear, not from stress — but from a kind of love she had never felt before.

And Estrella, tiny and new, breathed softly beside them…

finally part of a family written in fire, healed in silence, reborn in Japan.
