Chapter 43 - Chapter 43

After a light yawn, Yu Tang's beautiful eyelashes trembled slightly, and a lazy light shone in her large eyes.

Then, noticing the expression on my face, a subtle change occurred in her expression. Suddenly, she smiled radiantly and leaned closer, wrapping her arms around mine with a captivating fragrance.

"Brother, did you have a nightmare?"

I no longer cared about Yu Tang appearing in my bed. I simply nodded. Last night's dream had still greatly affected me…

"What kind of dream was it?" Yu Tang seemed to be bothered, gently shaking my arm. I couldn't recount the dream's content, so I could only smile wryly, trying to find a new topic to distract her.

At that moment, my eyes followed the graceful lines of Yu Tang's body, glancing downwards, and then, closer to her round, pear-shaped buttocks, near her waist, I saw that familiar star tattoo symbol.

Combining my previous regret and confusion, I asked, "Yu Tang, why did you get a tattoo here?"

On her flawless, porcelain-like skin, this tattoo, though smaller than a thumb, was still quite striking.

Yu Tang glanced at it lightly, then parted her cherry lips slightly and said, "This isn't an ordinary tattoo..."

A strange, nostalgic light flickered in Yu Tang's captivating eyes, and then she stared intently at me.

"It's because a big brother named Xing saved us four years ago, so... we all decided to get this tattoo so we wouldn't forget that big brother named Xing."

"We"?

I caught the plural pronoun in Yu Tang's words, and then suddenly remembered that Shen Weiwei seemed to have the same tattoo. A thought struck me, and I asked Yu Tang.

Unexpectedly, Yu Tang recounted a story from four years ago: Back then, a group of incredibly ruthless criminals with supernatural abilities, from abroad, kidnapped over a dozen young girls aged fourteen to seventeen for unknown reasons, using extremely cruel methods.

Most of them were ordinary girls from humble backgrounds; their parents and entire families had been almost entirely murdered… Fortunately, Uncle Luo and Aunt Luo were protected and escaped the massacre.

Just when the girls were in despair, a superhuman named "Star" stepped forward, defeated and eliminated the vicious criminals, rescued them, and even bought a place for these girls—those without homes, or those with only cold, impersonal homes—a place where they could find solace and support.

That place was an abandoned exhibition center, which he transformed into a venue to showcase the girls' various talents, naming it "Mu Yu Hai Tang" (Bathing in Rain and Begonia).

Sadly, after this incident, their savior, "Star," never appeared before them again. The girls felt regret and disappointment, and finally, someone suggested tattooing a star symbol on their bodies to commemorate "Star."

Hearing Yu Tang's story, I felt a pang of heartache, gratitude, and a strange sense of nostalgia. The heartache stemmed from the fact that, as a National Security Bureau agent actively fighting against supernatural intrusions and crime, I hadn't been there for Yu Tang when she was in danger.

The gratitude was directed at the young man who used a code name; perhaps he was also a National Security Bureau agent. I was grateful to him for saving Yu Tang and the other girls. If I ever encountered him again, I would definitely thank him properly.

As for that last, inexplicable feeling of nostalgia, it left me somewhat bewildered. Just as I began to ponder it, a dull ache arose deep within my mind…

After abandoning my thoughts, I sighed softly. After all, I had seen much when I went to rescue Yu Tang that day—the boxing ring, perhaps the back of the former exhibition hall, the individual rooms—perhaps the girls' quarters.

And there I clearly heard moans and cries of pleasure. Coupled with Yu Tang's ordeal, it was obvious that the place had become a brothel, even though its name had changed to the "Dream of the Begonia" bar. The fate of the girls was unimaginable…

Even though, apart from Yu Tang and Shen Weiwei, they were all girls I had never met before, I felt an overwhelming pang of heartache and regret!

It was as if I were witnessing a string of flawless pearls swallowed by mud…

Just as I was sighing, my hand was suddenly grasped tightly by a cool, smooth little hand. Yu Tang's graceful body leaned closer, her breath softly whispering in my ear, "Brother, it's not your fault…"

I gently squeezed Yu Tang's little hand in return, and then hummed in agreement.

And so, we stood hand in hand in silence for a long while, until finally Yutang broke the silence, "By the way, brother, you gave the wood carving to sister?"

I nodded gently, but Yutang lightly tapped her head with her fair fingers, a hint of apology on her pretty face, and said, "I'm sorry, brother, I suddenly remembered, sister seems to have only liked wood carvings a long time ago, and probably doesn't like them anymore..."

"I'm sorry, I didn't make my sister angry, did I?"

I felt both annoyed and amused. No wonder I had no idea Xuetang had such a hobby. But judging from her reaction, Xuetang didn't seem to dislike it much; she accepted it quite casually. It seemed she didn't dislike it as much as Yutang claimed.

But how could I blame her? Yutang meant well!

After I said I didn't mind, Yutang seemed to suddenly remember something and said to me, "My sister is a very sophisticated urban woman now. I remember she often goes to a high-end coffee shop called Cheshire Field. Why don't you go there and buy some coffee for her?"

Yu Tang's long, dark eyelashes fluttered, making her large eyes sparkle and shine as if they could speak, filled with a sense of apology and compensation. I hesitated for a moment, then chose to trust Yu Tang. After all, they were sisters, and I had been absent from Xue Tang's life for seven long years. I could only rely on Yu Tang, as her younger sister, for advice.

I immediately nodded in agreement. Although I had taken the most crucial step in restoring my relationship with Xue Tang, I still wanted to try my best to make up for the seven years I had lost…

However, at this moment, Yu Tang suddenly frowned adorably: "But, the coffee that my sister likes is a limited edition… It's only sold in small quantities on weekend mornings. Brother, you might have to go several times to get it."

"It's alright," I smiled. Compared to the seven years Xue Tang had waited, what was this?

I chatted with Yu Tang for a while longer. Compared to the past two days, I felt she was increasingly resembling the angelic, enchanting girl she was seven years ago, except…

Whenever my gaze fell upon her, she would intentionally or unintentionally spread her silk-stockinged legs or thrust out her alluring, pert breasts; every movement seemed to seduce me.

I could only manage a wry smile, carefully concealing the throbbing in my lower body…
