Chapter 85 - Preparing the Defenses

Every shadow could hide a threat, every step a trap.

Morning came with Pack Enforcement still maintaining perimeter, their dark uniforms visible at regular intervals along the fence line. Students moved through campus under watchful eyes, tension thick enough to taste, sharp and metallic on the tongue.

But the lockdown also created opportunity. Time to prepare without immediate external threat. Time to strengthen defenses while official oversight kept the worst dangers at bay.

I found students in the training grounds already, their breath visible in the cool morning air. Word had spread about organizing defensive drills. Some came out of genuine interest, eyes bright with determination. Others from fear about what might happen when Pack Enforcement eventually left, shoulders hunched and gazes darting nervously.
