Joseph's POV
That woman drives me absolutely mad. The fire in her eyes, the way she challenges me without an ounce of fear. I cannot recall the last time anyone dared to speak to me with such boldness. Most pack members cower in my presence, yet here she stands, defiant and utterly captivating.
When Karl escorts Dorothy from the room, I glance down at my battered form. Dried blood and debris from yesterday's battles coat my skin like a second layer. The metallic scent clings to me, and I wonder if it's truly morning now or if time has become meaningless in this sterile space.
During their absence, I carefully maneuver out of bed, wrapping the thin sheet around my waist. Nudity means nothing among pack members normally, but everything has changed now. I have a mate to consider. The last thing I want is for her to think I'm displaying myself for other females in the pack.
