Chapter 1 - one The awakening

The world had been quiet, a steady hum of Beta normalcy, predictable and bland, until my grandfather died. I worked my forgettable job, returned to a mansion where my twin, Elara, barely acknowledged me, and found solace only in Grandfather's dusty study. He was my anchor, now gone, and the sea was now flowing away from me.

It began subtly—an itch beneath my skin, adrenaline that wouldn't fade. I'd always healed fast, but after the funeral, something shifted. A kitchen knife slipped, carving a deep gash across my palm. I watched, mesmerized, as the flesh stitched itself closed in seconds.

Panic gnawed at me. I locked myself in Grandfather's study, surrounded by the scent of old paper and pipe tobacco, and began to search. He'd left me a box hidden beneath a loose floorboard. Inside were journals written in a script only he and I could decipher.

My blood ran cold as I read: Primarch. Seed of Origin. Dominant Core.

Primarchs were myths—beings of immense power, meant to anchor societies, capable of conceiving life, even as males. I was not ordinary, a genetic impossibility. The itch beneath my skin roared.

A sharp knock made me jump. Elara. "Elias? Mother is asking for you."

"I'm fine. Sorting through Grandfather's things."

"Don't take all day. Mother and I already handled the estate. What a waste of time he spent on you."

The words stung, but a slow rage simmered within me. The hum under my skin intensified.

Right from childhood,I have always been the least priority to my parents, no matter what I do ,they always look down on me because I am a beta and my twin sister is an omega.

She gets everything I have from my boyfriend Eric cheating on me with her to my friends leaving me to be friends with her . All the times I would complain about it to our parents they will always say " you are pretty much useless good for nothing beta ,so why not leave everything for your sister since she is an omega and she will inherit the property. So I stopped complaining about everything and allowed her to be taking everything that belongs to me ,I started being a backside character blending myself with the background of every room she is in.

She later got engaged to my ex boyfriend Eric.

It was only my grandfather that loves me despite me being a useless beta ,he gave me all his properties without letting my parents know about it

In my world betas are useless, because they are considered to be the lowest rank

No matter how beautiful a beta is they can never get married to a higher class gender because the highest ranked gender is an Enigma and nobody has ever seen him before, there are rumors that he is ruthless and dangerous, that he kills people for breakfast, after Enigma there is another rank that is nearly impossible to exist like the enigma it is primarch.

Legend have it that primarch is a soul mate and a spiritual mate to the only enigma alive and there is just one of them alive and it also states that in every fifty centuries an enigma will come to life with his primarch and he will do anything to get his mate .

Then I heard footsteps

I needed to leave. Grandfather's journals spoke of dangers, of powers that hunted Primarchs. I packed a small bag with the journals and a locket.

The front door was ajar. Elara's voice floated from the living room, laced with a sycophantic tone.

Before the Obsidian Veil dialogue, a line showing Elara talking to someone: "Yes, he's the one. I assure you, the records are authentic."

"Yes, I assure you, the records are authentic. He's completely unaware of his capabilities, a Beta through and through, easily contained. My grandfather... he was very thorough in hiding it. But I always knew there was something wrong with Elias."

"Excellent," a deep voice replied. "The Obsidian Veil is always... grateful for such foresight. Your compensation will be delivered as promised."

Obsidian Veil. Grandfather's warnings echoed in my mind: "They are shadows, Elias. They collect power. They will consume you."

Elara had sold me.

Adrenaline surged through me. My vision sharpened. The hum beneath my skin was now a roaring current.

I reacted. I pushed the front door open, intending to run.

But they were faster.

A figure stepped from the shadows, tall and broad, blocking my escape. His eyes glowed with an unsettling, predatory silver—the color of an Enigma on the verge of a surge.

My breath hitched. My nascent Dominant Core flared in terror. Raw power surged through me.

The man smirked. "Found you, Primarch."

He moved with impossible speed. Before I could react, he had me. A vice-like grip closed around my wrist, his other hand clamping onto the back of my neck.

My body screamed in protest. The raw power within me flared, trying to push him away. But his touch was like a magnet, drawing my energy.

Panic set in. My heart raced, cold sweat trickled down my back, and my fingers trembled.

His silver eyes burned with a desperate intensity. "Mine," he rasped, his voice a low growl.

And then, everything went black.
