Chapter 7 - A Goddess's Hand

It was morning…or so I thought.

Light rushed through my eyes, but despite there being light, I was surrounded by darkness. I felt a divine power come towards me.

A hand came towards me. A helping hand.

I touched the hand, and my body immediately started vanishing into sparks. But I didn't lose my cool.

Then I saw it… Or HER.

A Godly figure, my Goddess and my saviour in the Dreams.

[You've finally woken up my Child.]

"I have, but why did you save me there?"

[Because I need to. You are my child after all.]

"Then why didn't you prevent me from begging in the first place?"

[Because that is what time and fate have written for you. It is not upon me to decide that.]

"But how did time and fate decide that you'll come down to kill him after begging, why didn't you come then? Do you know how much respect I lost, how much pride I lost?!"

[I do know that. But listen to me.]

[I let you lose your pride, your respect. BUT I will never let you die, I WILL NEVER LET YOU DIE. This is a Goddess's promise to you.]

"Thank you for that."

"But may I ask you, why am I in this place?"

[To bestow on you your first skill.]

[You've proven yourself worthy enough for my ability.]

"Really? Finally, now I will have a skill."

[The future knows no limit; it is driven by what was and what is. I surrender my sight beyond time—let this child see tomorrow in my stead, and let me walk the present blind.]

[You have a new skill unlocked.]

[Skill unlocked: Future Prospect.]

*******************************************************

Skill: Future Prospect

time ahead in the future.

This skill has 5 levels.

"Holyyy! This skill is mad good."

[I know. And that's why I gave it to you. Now this will help you in fighting.]

[DISCONNECT–]

I immediately started to fall.

THUD.

I returned back to consciousness. I could finally see the sun rays striking into my eyes.

It was a long night, but an interesting night.

I stood up on my feet and shook my body off.

DING.

"Finally, I could view what I got," I said to myself while clicking the pop-up in front of me.

DING.

[You have been given 10,000 coins.]

[A free wheel spin is available for you.]

"OOH! 10,000 coins and a free wheel spin. I know exactly what I'm going to do with the coins, but first, let's check out free wheel spin."

Click.

DING.

The wheel spun. Many good rewards passed by, but the wheel kept on spinning. There were legendaries, rares and also uncommons. The wheel kept on speeding up until it stopped abruptly.

A few blue sparks were sent out, and I could see my reward.

[You have been given an uncommon.]

[The Scythe that took away light: The Dimming Ash]

"The reward may be uncommon, but the name is lit."

[Do you want to equip your new weapon?]

"Hell yeah!"

[Weapon equipped: The Dimming Ash.]

Soon, the scythe appeared in my hands. When I wrapped my hands around its haft, a cold pulse ran through my arms. The blade wasn't just black–it swallowed the edges of everything nearby. Light itself dimmed around the edges of the scythe. The entire body of it looked hungry to devour someone's light and turn it into darkness. A Scythe made to take away light, The Dimming Ash, sure lives up to its name so far.

Soon, the Scythe started taking over my hand. Darkness started filling up my hand, it was as if the scythe has accepted it's owner. I immediately checked the stats of my scythe to get more familiar with it.

*******************************************************

Memento: Dimming Ash

Type: Uncommon

Description: Once used by a fierce warrior, the

dimming ash took away all light. This weapon

sees the light in people and mobs and gives it

a value. The more light it takes in the more

stronger it gets.

Current light required to level up: 1000

*******************************************************

"It may be weak for now, but as I take away other people's light it can get stronger."

[The Dimming Ash is more familiar with you.]

Immediately after this message, the darkness on my hands grew. It continued and stopped until my whole arm was filled up. The Scythe knew it's owner and the owner knew it's Scythe.

"This is so cool. The real world really sucked didn't it?"

I sliced the Scythe across empty air. Nothing happened. But I could see the light that was bending alongside the blade. It really lives up to it's name.

"I wonder what the others are doing."

This tought came into my mind, and I instantly set out to look after them.

The place was not that crowded, unlike yesterday, so there were only few people to look at before finding these guys.

I spotted each of them in a cafe nearby.

I entered the cafe, but there was no one selling anything coffee related. It was a barren place. Now I can say I miss the old world.

I saw Conrad come out to me.

"Thanks Lumian, you really saved our ass there."

"No, not only me. You and the others really helped too."

Freya entered our convo.

"Well good that your idea really did work. But it's also because of me going alone that we could get another flag to secure the win."

"Sure, don't go taking everyone's credit."

Conrad addressed Alvin and Alina.

"Thanks to you too, without you guys cooperation, this wouldn't be possible for me and Lumian."

"It's okay, it is a team effort afterall." Both replied.

"Now, everyone." I called out.

"What rewards did each of you get from the wheel spin."

"Let me start." Conrad replied. "I got an uncommon fist gauntlet, this could really help me in close range."

"That's nice. Freya, your turn."

"Umm, I got an armor set, but it's common."

"That's still good, atleast now you won't die out quickly. Alvin, what'd you get."

"Nothing. That's it."

"Damn, those can give you nothing? Alina, tell me you got something."

"I did! It was an uncommon sceptre."

"Nice, we can already see who can be our mage here–"

Before I could tell them my reward, our little get-together was disturbed by the announcement of the Albrim.

[Congrats on surviving your second Dream.]
