Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Arrogant CEO

As soon as I got out of the office, I dashed into mine and collapsed onto my chair, trying to catch my breath.

Oh my gosh… what did I just see? Wait—wasn't that Tessa? What the actual fuk? So they're really… involved? That's insane.*

I giggled nervously.

I couldn't wait to tell Isabella—she was going to lose her mind. I sighed deeply.

Just as I tried to rest, my phone rang again. My heart nearly jumped out of my chest when I heard my name.

Lord, please help me, I prayed silently while walking back toward his office. On the way, I stumbled right into Tessa. She shot me a glare so sharp I felt it pierce through me.

Oh my gosh… if looks could kill, I'd be a corpse right now.

I reached the office door, took a deep breath, and stepped inside. I still couldn't get used to the dark, luxurious interior—everything screamed wealth and power. And once again, seeing his face almost knocked the air out of me.

God, why is he so hot?

"Are you done printing the documents?" he asked. Even his voice sent a tingling shock through my body.

"Yes, sir. I'm done," I said, handing the papers over.

He skimmed them, then frowned. My stomach dropped.

"What is this?" he snapped, throwing the documents back at me. The sharpness in his voice cut straight into my chest.

"This was a simple reprint. You can't even get that right? I thought you said you were good at your work. This is unacceptable. Get out and fix it. Now."

The anger in his eyes made me shrink. I didn't say a word. I just picked up the papers and hurried out, eyes stinging. I blinked back the tears—I wasn't about to cry here.

I rushed to the printing department. Tessa was there, almost like she had been waiting for me. I ignored her and headed for the machines, but she stepped in front of me.

"Oh Lord… what now?"

"I don't know who hired you," she said coldly, "but you'd better watch your back. And use your brain if you want to survive here. Do you hear me?"

Oh my God… this bitch must be very stupid.

Who did she think she was? I wished I could say it to her face, but it was my first day—and she was the female supervisor.

"I don't understand," I told her calmly. "I came here to work, and I don't know what I did wrong."

She smirked. "Oh, really? No problem then. Just be careful."

And with that, she walked away.

I quickly reprinted the documents again and ran back to the CEO's office.

He didn't even fully look at them this time. Just a glance.

"Do them again."

I wanted to scream. I wanted to throw the whole printer at him. But instead, I kept silent and repeated the same humiliating trip: office → printing room → office → printing room.

By the fourth time, my legs felt like jelly.

From behind me, I heard a whisper:

"Oh my, look at her. The boss must really hate her. Let's see if he fires her within a week."

The others nodded, gossiping like vultures.

It was past seven. Most employees had already left, but as the personal assistant, I had to stay until the CEO dismissed me—or until he left.

I was dragging myself down the hall when the elevator doors opened, and Alexander stepped out.

"You'd better get the work done and present it first thing tomorrow morning," he said sharply. "Or start packing your things."

His jaw was clenched so tightly I thought it might crack. Then he walked away.

I released a long, shaky sigh.

I swear— I fuking hate this man so much. Is he trying to kill me? And I thought he'd be nice. But no… he's an arrogant dck. A beautiful one, but still a dck.*

Maybe he was angry because I interrupted him and Tessa earlier…

Either way, I was exhausted. I dragged myself back to my office, gathered my things, and headed for the exit.

"Oh—Isabella, you're still here?" I asked, surprised to see her.

"I just finished. The boss told me to complete everything before leaving," she said, rolling her eyes.

I sighed.

So everyone was suffering under this arrogant boss—not just me.

"Okay, let's go home."

"Yes, yes, I'm ready."

We took the elevator down and left the company together.

When I got home, I fell face-first onto my bed.

"God, I'm so tired," I groaned. I was drifting into sleep when a knock hit my door. I growled.

"Oh my gosh… who is it? I'm exhausted," I said, rubbing my eyes.

"It's me!!" Hailey's voice shrieked from the hallway.

Oh no.

Knowing Hailey, I wasn't getting any sleep tonight.

"Hailey, I'm so tired. Let's talk tomorrow. Please leave my apartment," I said sternly.

Her voice cracked.

"Hazel… can you please let me in?"

The sleep disappeared instantly. Hailey never cried. Not once.

I opened the door. She stood there with tears streaming down her face.

"Oh my God—Hailey, what happened?" I asked urgently.

"It's my boss," she sobbed. "He yelled at me today… and it broke me. He's never shouted at me like that before."

"Hailey, don't take it to heart," I said, pulling her into a hug. "Should I tell you something? My boss is also a complete jerk. I literally walked in on him and the female supervisor… doing something."

Her tears stopped instantly.

"Wait… WHAT? OMG!" She leaned in, eyes wide. "What did you do?"

"What else was I supposed to do? I ran for my life! And after that he showed his true colors—a complete arrogant d*ck."

Hailey burst into laughter, and soon we were both lying on my bed laughing, ranting about our horrible bosses. Sometime during the gossip, we both dozed off without knowing.
