One evening, while riding a corporate elevator, Steve Ricker experiences a sudden, intense mental system reboot. When the shock subsides, he discovers he possesses a unique ability: 

The Minecraft System. His new power manifests as a mental inventory, a crafting mechanism, and the ability to break down real-world objects into cubic blocks (e.g., steel corrosion into Cobblestone) and store them digitally.
Realizing this power is unlike any known Quirk and fearing he would become a state-controlled asset or scientific experiment, Steve makes an immediate, frantic decision to disappear. 

He spends the next few hours liquidating his assets, destroying all digital traces, and resigning from his job, effectively erasing the office worker known as Steve Ricker.
He then embarks on a clandestine journey to the Appalachian wilderness, seeking complete isolation where the omnipresent Hero society cannot find him. Upon reaching a dense national forest, he establishes a rudimentary camp.

After a few days of experimentation, Steve manages to summon his User Interface (UI), confirming his inventory and hotbar. He successfully materializes a block of Cobblestone and then, with sheer focus and determination, utilizes the power's most iconic function: punching down an entire oak tree to harvest logs.

Steve, the quirkless nobody, has found his path to survival and mastery in a world designed to exclude him, now armed with the ability to reshape reality, one block at a time. The next phase begins: using his newfound power to build his ultimate, undetectable shelter.
