Dewi POV
Drap…
Stupid. Stupid!!!
I ran as fast as I could, rushed into the elevator, and slammed the button over and over again.
"DEWI, WAIT—"
I didn't care about Topan's shout. I didn't even want to look at him.
The image from earlier was far too clear—etched painfully into my mind—and it made my chest throb all over again.
"Why am I crying?! Stop it, idiot! Don't—hiks… why?"
I wiped my eyes roughly, over and over, hoping the tears would stop. But damn it—they wouldn't. And now my heart, too…
"Ukhh… i-it hurts! Stop it… hiks…"
I clenched the fabric over my chest, desperate for the pain to disappear.
Ding!
The elevator doors opened, and I stumbled out unsteadily. My vision was blurry—I didn't even notice someone in front of me until I crashed into them hard. Also the lunch bag I was carrying fell to the floor.
Brukh!
"Uhh… I'm sorry… I—"
"HEY, WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING! OH—YOU?!"
My ears rang slightly from the shout.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I'm in a hurry… ukhh…"
Wait—what's wrong with me?!
When I tried to stand properly, I felt something warm and wet flowing down. Huh?
"W-what is this?!" I whispered in panic.
Blood.
Blood was running down my calf—dripping onto the floor beneath my feet.
"Y-YOU— MY GOD, SHE'S BLEEDING! HELP!!!"
My legs gave out again. My entire body felt unbearably weak. My stomach—no, my whole abdomen—hurt like hell.
The screams around me faded into distant noise.
"DEWI!!!"
Who…? Who just called my name… ukhh…
Was that Topan?
My vision completely blurred.
I gave up. I couldn't hold on anymore.
Dewi POV END
Employees and security staff immediately rushed toward the source of the screams.
They froze in shock when they saw Melissa supporting the unconscious wife of the company's president—blood soaking down the woman's legs without stopping.
"P-Please! Mrs. President—"
"EVERYONE, MOVE ASIDE!"
The crowd instantly parted when that sharp voice rang out.
Grep!
Topan took Dewi from Melissa's arms and lifted her into his own. His eyes were ice-cold as he strode forward.
"Hurry, Arya! To the hospital—now!" he shouted.
Arya—who had been following closely behind since earlier—immediately ran ahead to get the car.
Topan lowered his gaze to Dewi's pale face. He had chased her down the emergency stairs. When he reached the final floor, he heard someone scream—and his thoughts went straight to Dewi.
And he was right.
"Hold on, love," he murmured, trying to convince himself—even as his clothes were now soaked with her blood.
'Please… let it not be something terrible…'
He prayed desperately for Dewi's safety.
If one looked closely, Topan's grip around his wife tightened—because this time, he admitted it:
He was truly afraid of what would come next.

Topan POV
I stayed standing in front of the ER doors, unmoving, waiting for the doctor inside to examine Dewi.
From what I caught earlier, Dewi was bleeding and had to be taken in immediately.
What does that even mean?
Drap… drap!
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed loudly behind me, but I didn't turn around. I had to make sure about her condi—
Grep! Bugh!
"Ukh, damn it! What the— WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!"
I remained silent, not even looking back, when Ryuji suddenly arrived and punched me straight in the face.
"Who the hell do you think you are, huh?!"
Bugh!
I swung my fist back, landing hard on Ryuji's jaw. Bastard!
Grep!
"WHERE IS DEWI?!"
Tchh… this bastard!
I slapped his hand away roughly when he grabbed my collar.
"WHY ARE YOU LOOKING FOR HER? SHE'S MY WIFE!"
Srek!
I grabbed Ryuji's collar just as hard, tightening my grip until his breathing faltered.
Did he think I was afraid to end him right here?! Just because you're my brother doesn't mean you're spared.
Topan POV END
---
Drap… drap…
"Topan, stop it! Your brother could die!"
Several hurried steps rushed toward Topan and Ryuji.
Ratna's scream didn't make Topan loosen his grip. The difference in their heights gave him an advantage, even though Ryuji was still struggling to fight back.
Grep!
Arya and Dewi's father, Andri, quickly stepped in to separate them.
Arya struggled to restrain his boss, clearly overwhelmed by Topan's strength, yet he didn't let go.
On the other side, Andri held Ryuji's arm and pulled him back a few steps.
"Let go! I'll kill him—"
SLAP!!!
Ratna's palm landed hard against Topan's cheek. His head snapped to the side—and he froze.
Everyone was stunned. Even Mira flinched before quickly grabbing Ratna, trying to calm her down.
"S-Sis?! What are you doing?! Topan—"
Mira's words were cut off sharply by Ratna's cold voice as she spoke to her son.
"Your brother, Ryuji, just came home—and you want to kill him?! I never raised you to be a murderer, Topan!"
Those words made Topan's expression turn completely rigid. He roughly freed himself from Arya's hold and stared at his mother with an emotionless gaze.
"In your life, is Ryuji the only son you have? Can't you look at the truth first before judging me?"
Ratna's face turned pale.
Oh God…
She had slapped Topan purely on instinct—only to stop her youngest from becoming violent toward his brother. She was simply too happy that Ryuji had finally come home.
"T-Topan… m-Mother—"
Click!
The ER room door finally opened, and a doctor stepped out. Seeing that, Topan immediately rushed forward, grabbing the doctor's shoulders and shaking him hard.
"How is my wife? Dewi? Say something, Doctor!" he demanded impatiently.
But before the doctor could say anything, a loud crash and a scream echoed from inside the room.
CRASH!!
"GET OUT!"
Topan instantly released the doctor and chose to storm into the ER room.
Srek! Grep!
A vase flew straight toward him—and Topan caught it just in time.
"D-Dewi—"
CRASH!
In front of him, a glass on the bedside table was smashed by Dewi, its contents spilling onto the floor, shards scattering everywhere.
"D-Don't, Dewi, please—"
Topan tried to approach his wife, who looked completely out of control, but Dewi's sudden movement made his heart drop.
"COME ANY CLOSER AND I'LL DIE!"
Sret!
Dewi grabbed one of the largest glass shards and pressed it to her own neck. Her skin was slightly cut by its sharp edge. Blood slowly seeped from the side of her neck.
"DEWI! SWEETHEART, STOP! MOMMY BEGS YOU! HIKSS—"
Mira's hysterical scream burst into the room, followed by the others. Dewi wavered slightly—and Topan seized the moment. He lunged forward, grabbed her body, and knocked the glass shard out of her hand.
"L-Let go! Ckk—"
Srek!
Topan managed to snatch the shard away just in time and threw it aside, though his palm was slightly torn in the process.
"Are you crazy, huh?!"
Grep!
Topan immediately pulled his wife into his arms and lifted her away from the broken glass on the floor.
"Let go… l-let go…"
Dewi struggled fiercely in his hold, but Topan remained firm, refusing to release her.
"Let m-me die… let go…"
"SHUT UP!"
Topan shouted as he placed Dewi back onto the ER bed, trying to snap her back to reality.
Dewi's tear-streaked face met his gaze, and Topan instantly regretted yelling at her.
"I-I… I didn't mean to—sorry—"
His words were cut off by Dewi's weak, hysterical sob.
"Hiks… I-I miscarried! M-my baby is gone, hikss… let m-me follow, hiks… I-I don't know… hikss…"
Thud!
Dewi's hands weakly struck Topan's broad chest several times. His eyes widened in shock, unable to believe what his wife had just said.
"A-a baby? Miscarriage?"
He murmured in disbelief, shaking his head as if refusing to accept it.
Tap… tap…
The doctor and two nurses quickly moved to the bedside to resume the examination.
"Yes, Sir. Mrs. Dewi suffered a miscarriage because the fetus was extremely weak, so we had no choice but to perform an immediate procedure. It was also to prevent further severe bleeding."
Checkmate.
Everyone froze at the doctor's explanation.
For the first time in his life, Topan cried. Their child—the proof of his love with Dewi—was taken away just like that, because of his negligence.
Hug!
"I'm sorry… please forgive me…"
Topan whispered softly as he held Dewi tightly in his arms.
The husband and wife cried together over the loss of their first child. The room grew even heavier, grief hanging thick in the air.
The doctor sighed and gave them some space. On the other side, he too felt sorrow, but he had been forced to act—only able to save one of them.
"NO! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!"
Everyone was startled—Dewi and Topan included—by the loud voice of someone who had been standing silently at the doorway with a hollow stare.
"R-Ryuji…"
Dewi whispered in shock when her eyes met the man's. Her body began to tremble as anxiety slowly crept in.
"H-How could you be p-pregnant?! D-Dewi, don't tell me you two… love each other, huh?!"
Ryuji scoffed in disgust, his gaze darkening with anger.
Tap… tap…
After only two steps toward them, Arya suddenly grabbed his arm. Ryuji shot him a sharp, icy glare, but Arya didn't budge.
"We have accepted each other."
Direct hit.
Topan's words sent Ryuji's anger boiling over.
But before he could say anything, a hand landed on his shoulder.
"Sorry, we need to leave now."
It was Gamma. Ryuji's close friend arrived and forcefully dragged him out of the ER room.
"Wait! Where are you taking my son?! RYUJI!"
Seeing her eldest son being dragged away, Ratna didn't hesitate—she immediately chased after him.
