Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: Return to Asgard

Thor returned to Jane's side.

This girl made Thor feel close.

Ever since he came to Midgard, Jane had always been by his side. He had seen her gentleness, her innocence, and her strength.

She was like a beam of light that appeared at the lowest point of his divine life.

Seeing how happy Jane was for him, Thor felt his heart soften, "Do you want to see that bridge I told you about?"

Amid Jane's gasp, Thor wrapped an arm around her waist and flew up into the sky.

———

[Asgard]

Loki pulled out the key to the Rainbow Bridge.

At the same time, several tall figures came before Loki. It was Laufey, the Frost Giant leader, and his people.

After Thor was banished, Loki had secretly gone to Laufey and asked him to kill the Father of the Gods, Odin.

After Loki took the throne, he would give the Casket of Ancient Winters in exchange.

Laufey had once asked Loki why he did not do it himself. Now was the perfect chance.

Loki said that the people of Asgard were not fools. They would not tolerate someone who killed the king inheriting the throne.

That was just what Loki told Laufey. In truth, Loki had no intention of killing Odin at all.

To make everyone acknowledge him, he had his own plan.

"Welcome to the Realm of the Gods."

Loki led Laufey and his people onto the Rainbow Bridge.

The scene slowly shifted. Heimdall, frozen solid in the pose of drawing his sword, showed a crack forming in the ice on his body.

In the desert, Jane's car kicked up clouds of dust.

They found the spot where the warriors of Asgard had arrived.

On the ground where the Rainbow Bridge had teleported them was left a huge circular mysterious rune.

Thor stepped onto the rune's landing point and looked up at the sky.

"Heimdall, lower the Rainbow Bridge... Heimdall?"

The God of Thunder called out loudly for Heimdall, the watcher of the Nine Realms and the gatekeeper of Asgard, to lower the Rainbow Bridge and bring him back.

But no response came for a long time.

Although Heimdall was frozen and could not move, his all seeing and all hearing ability still worked. Thor's calls kept ringing in his ears, igniting his fighting spirit.

He struggled nonstop against the freezing effect of the Casket of Ancient Winters. More and more cracks appeared in the ice, but he still could not immediately break free.

"He is not responding... we are stuck here."

On Earth, the warriors of Asgard saw that Thor still had not received any response and whispered in doubt.

Thor did not give up, calling out again and again.

"Heimdall! We need you... Heimdall?"

Heimdall, frozen from head to toe, knew that Asgard was about to face a crisis, and only Thor had the power to turn it around.

A furious roar came from within the ice shell.

Crash!

After all, it was the cold released by the divine Casket of Ancient Winters. Even someone as strong as Heimdall had to use all his strength just to barely break free.

The ice shell around him instantly shattered into pieces.

With two sword strikes he took down the Frost Giants guarding the ice statue, and Heimdall's fury eased slightly.

Just breaking out of the ice had already left Heimdall exhausted in body and mind. Dragging his heavy body to the Rainbow Bridge controls, he plunged his giant sword into the key slot.

Powerful energy was activated, and Heimdall weakly collapsed to the side.

The warriors of Asgard watched the clouds in the sky twist and spiral downward, knowing that Thor's call had finally been answered.

Thor came to Jane's side and solemnly said to the girl in front of him,

"I am about to return to the Realm of the Gods, but I promise you, I will come back for you. Deal?"

He then took Jane's hand again and kissed it.

With parting at hand, Jane looked at Thor as he tried to comfort her. She could no longer hold back the pounding in her heart. She leaned in and kissed Thor's furry mouth. [T/N: Tf? Lmao!]

After a long while, their lips parted.

"Deal..."

At this moment, Corin was watching the two of them with their eyes practically glued together, and a funny scene popped into his head.

Two seals pecking the same cherry with their noses and mouths.

This was also what James Rhodes had used to mock Tony and Pepper when they kissed.

"Hey prince, you are not taking me back with you?"

Hearing Corin, Thor turned his head and looked at Corin, who was tossing and catching that medal of his over and over.

The corner of his mouth twitched.

'That was the first medal I ever won from my father with great difficulty.'

'And he is just throwing it around like that. Is that any way to treat it?'

Then he comforted himself.

'Forget it. Since it has been given away, let it be.'

'Damn it. I should have given him something else.'

"I admit you are a powerful warrior... Destiny."

Thor thought Corin was asking to go with him to face the troubles in the Realm of the Gods.

But in Thor's mind, the chaos in Asgard should be dealt with by him, the older brother. It was clearly Loki causing trouble.

After everything that had happened, if he still could not see that Loki was the problem, then Thor would be the one with a problem.

Thor was sincere, not stupid.

He valued Corin as a Midgard friend and was truly happy to have met Jane and Corin here.

But Asgard was surely in a mess right now. How could he let a good friend come visit such a chaotic home?

At the very least, he had to clean it up before inviting someone over. That was proper hospitality.

Looking at Destiny's expectant eyes, Thor shook his head and refused Corin's suggestion.

"After I take care of things at home, I will invite you to Asgard as a guest."

Then he and the warriors of Asgard vanished into the pillar of energy.

"Sigh!"

Corin actually really wanted to say, 'Even if your house is as messy as dumpling filling, I only want to go and swipe a few scallions.'

But watching Thor turn into a streak of light and rise into the sky, Corin could only wait for the next chance.

His gaze returned to the medal in his hand.

"Alright then... at least I got a lot out of this."

"Exchange."

The badge in his hand gradually turned transparent until it disappeared.

[Exchange successful! +8 billion dollars. Account balance: 9.298 billion dollars]

Looking at the skyrocketing balance, Corin showed a satisfied smile.

Putting aside the fact that Corin immediately sold off the war medal that Thor regarded as his highest honor.

Thor the God of Thunder passed through the wormhole and returned to Heimdall's observatory.

———

Seeing Heimdall lying on the ground, Thor immediately had his men take him for treatment.

And he himself kept moving toward the royal court.

He was going to find Loki and get some answers.

———

Led by Loki, Laufey arrived at the Golden Hall where Odin lay sleeping.

The tightly shut doors were covered in spreading ice flowers. The goddess Frigga, guarding Odin, sensed the danger and drew her divine sword, standing alert.

The divine power of the golden hall's doors was corroded by frost, and Laufey, the Frost Giant leader, walked in.

His crimson eyes flashed with satisfaction.

Goddess Frigga swung her sword and cut down one giant follower, but she was knocked to the ground by Laufey with a single slap.

She was, after all, not skilled in combat.

At this moment Laufey looked every bit the victor. He pried open Odin's left eye and said softly,

"I hear... you can still hear and see what happens around you... I hope that is true..."

"So you will know that the one who kills you is me, Laufey."

As he spoke, an ice dagger formed in Laufey's hand.

As his words fell, Laufey raised the weapon, ready to give his lifelong enemy Odin a clean end.

BANG!

At that moment, a beam of energy struck Laufey in the back.

It was Loki.

Holding Odin's spear Gungnir, he gave Laufey a vicious strike.

"And the one who kills you is Odin's son."

Caught by the sneak attack, Laufey fell weakly to the ground. The power of Odin's spear was no joke.

Under Laufey's shocked gaze, Loki used Odin's spear to turn Laufey into shattered golden light scattered all over the floor.

When Goddess Frigga saw that it was her beloved son Loki who had come to save the day at the critical moment, she felt one word. Relief.

She rushed forward and hugged Loki tightly.

"Loki, you saved your father."

At this moment Loki turned into a master of tea ceremony, grinding Frigga's favor.

"I swear to you, Mother! I will make them pay for what happened today."

At this time, a deep voice echoed through the corridor and reached their ears.

"Loki..."
