Chapter 74 - Klee in Confinement! The Tool-Person’s Resolve!

Mondstadt's Grand Library—once the greatest collection of books in the northern continent.

Though it lost five-sixths of its volumes in the Great Autumn Storm Fire, it still remains the largest library in all of Teyvat.

Since that catastrophe, the Knights maintain extremely strict security.

And because the two-century-rare genius witch Lisa Minci willingly took up the role of librarian, the library has enjoyed long-lasting peace.

At this moment, while Lisa brewed afternoon tea for everyone, Lumine recounted everything that happened during their search for the Stormterror dragon.

When she mentioned the Abyss Order forcibly controlling Dvalin—and worse, accusing Barbatos of trying to hunt him—Jean froze in shock.

"Wait—Barbatos?"

She stared directly at Venti, unable to hide her disbelief.

Because she knew the true identity of the Stormterror dragon, she also knew—he couldn't possibly mistake his own god.

Meaning the boy before her… really was Mondstadt's Archon.

The eternally serious Jean widened her eyes, her voice rising involuntarily—a reaction surprisingly adorable.

Her gaze instinctively shifted to Luo Li.

His nod was all she needed.

Venti, realizing he was fully exposed, quickly coughed and tried to redirect the topic.

"A-haha… let's talk about Dvalin, shall we?"

No one pressed further.

They could all read the atmosphere—better to pretend ignorance.

Lisa served tea one cup at a time, speaking slowly:

"So, we need to rescue Stormter… Dvalin from the Abyss Order. Do we know where their base is?"

Lumine shook her head, but before she could answer, Paimon cut in loudly:

"Fischl and Oz already followed them! We're just waiting for her report!"

Jean frowned in concern.

"Isn't that too dangerous?"

Tracking Stormterror and the Abyss by herself—if she were discovered…

But Luo Li was completely unconcerned.

"As long as she doesn't deliberately draw Dvalin's attention like last time, little Fischl's ability to conceal herself is excellent. No real danger."

After his training, Fischl had become one of the Adventurer's Guild's top scouts.

Jean relaxed at his assurance, sipping tea elegantly.

Luo Li watched her—compared to Lisa's seductive charm, Jean possessed a knight's dignified purity.

Her white-and-gold attire, the slim-fitting trousers, the exposed back beneath the cloak — altogether a striking blend of discipline and understated beauty.

As they waited for news, he suggested:

"Now's a good time to tell Lumine about the Lawrence situation."

As promised, Jean explained her request—that Lumine infiltrate the Lawrence Clan and expose any treasonous activity rooted in their collusion with the Fatui.

Lumine blinked.

"You want… me to infiltrate the Lawrences and gather evidence?"

Before she could decide, Paimon raised her hand like a merchant haggling over carrots.

"E-Excuse me—what's the reward?"

Lumine glared.

Paimon shrank back but muttered:

"W-Well, it's important! Since we know the Anemo Archon didn't separate you and your brother, the next step is traveling to another nation! And what if we run out of Mora?!"

Jean, Lisa, and Luo Li were speechless.

Even so, Lumine accepted the request.

But first—Stormterror had to be saved.

Before long, Fischl returned, panting but excited.

"They are in the Temples of the Four Winds! I have confirmed it with my own eyes!"

"So let's go now! If the Abyss fully corrupts Dvalin, we're doomed!" Paimon cried anxiously.

Lumine immediately stood.

Thus began the tool-person's unending duty—she didn't even finish her tea before hurrying off with Venti and Fischl.

Jean hesitated, feeling guilty about letting the Anemo Archon handle threats meant for the Knights…

But Luo Li quickly stopped her.

"Let that idle drunkard work for once. Otherwise he'll rot in taverns forever."

Where was the lie?

Once the trio departed, the library returned to calm.

Jean dusted her gloves.

"I should resume work."

Even after a short break, her self-discipline compelled her back to the endless mountain of documents.

Lisa sighed at Luo Li with helpless amusement.

Without him, Jean probably wouldn't have rested even a minute.

Luo Li drained the rest of his tea.

"Well, I should take a walk around the training grounds."

His schedule had never been consistent.

Sometimes he showed up.

Sometimes not at all.

Sometimes he slept at home with Raiden Makoto all day.

Yet the Knights had no complaints—his occasional advice had benefitted them far beyond what they expected from any consultant.

As he exited the library and passed the confinement room, he paused.

Inside, a tiny girl lay prone over a desk, scribbling something with intense focus—muttering words nobody could hear.

Klee.

He watched her silently for a moment.

He chose not to disturb her.

A little confinement… was necessary for the tiny demolitionist to learn her lesson.
