Chapter 34 - Marin's end line

Marin was furious.

Her abilities as a businesswoman were near zero; she was well aware that even if she got the job, in a few months she would get fired.

Her last hope was her personal belongings that she had accumulated all the years from Ray's money.

"I got around five million in my personal account, with the jewelry worth around 100 million. I should be ok for around fifty years!" Even though things have gone very wrong, her gains are going to be immense.

Soon, she was faced with her bedroom door. Her face got scanned with the security scans.

"Access declined."

"WHAT..." She screamed at the closed door.

"What a pathetic show."

Marin turned her to see who was watching her. Yelena leaned against one of the walls, with an empty bottle of wine in her hand.

"Yelena, what does this mean?" Marin clenched her fists as she tried to control her anger in front of her.

"Isn't it obvious? Your belongings are on the first floor with a key to an apartment in the fifth district for you." Yelena smirked; she obviously enjoyed the show.

Marin cleared her throat: "By belongings you mean all of my collections and accessories?"

"Of course not. You see that boy John did research on how much you helped the growth of the company in the past ten years; it turns out everything you said about yourself at the parties was nothing but mere lies. All you did in these ten years was to stand around and spend money." Yelena always knew it was a lie all along; her contract with Marin made her way more money than usual.

"Wha ... I raised Ray! What better dedication to the company than that?"

"Anyway, your personal wealth was around one million before that, but Ray was generous enough to let you keep that five in your account plus an apartment. I would assume you don't want to be a manager too." Yelena drank from her bottle, yet it was already empty.

Marin felt devastated; her mind couldn't work properly. "What happens to my stuff then..."

Yelena licked the last drop of alcohol from her lips: "I got half of them as a gift; Rose got some too."

An iron spear appeared on Marin's side. "You bitch, you wanted this all along."

"Not really, unlike you I have my own money too, and better watch your tongue. I'm kind of angry that I don't have any alcohol at the moment." Yelena laughed as hard as she could.

Marin destroyed her own magic in the air; she took a deep breath and changed her strategy: "I want to talk to Ray."

"Not gonna happen; right now he is in the middle of the party, and after that he has other plans. And you don't think that he is going to pity you, right?" Yelena narrowed her eyes on the clenched fists of her ex friend.

"Or maybe you can become his slave, but I don't think that's going to work either. With me around, who needs someone like you? Your rank is not even SSS." Yelena continued to laugh; she had seen Marin's kinks. It was obvious how she liked to be treated. "Maybe you are horny now too from all this humiliation."

Deep down, Marin had had fear of Ray for some time now; at some point, his personality had completely changed, like he was possessed by some other being. And in the last week, she had seen him slay near a thousand men like nothing had happened.

And there was his lack of attention toward anything beside his trainings and work. She didn't remember when the last time he had been on a vacation was.

"But I thought you were on my side; we were even friends, for fuck's sake..."

Yelena called for one of the maids. "Yeah, not any longer."

All of her attempts seemed to fail; she used her last card: "I wonder, what would your husband think if he suddenly understood you cheated on him?"

Hands gripped her neck as her whole figure was hit against a wall; Marin's head went spinning from the impact.

Yelena tightened her grip. "Just to know, I'm getting a divorce. However, I think you like to be taught a lesson."

"Ple..."

She fell on the ground, her lungs took any air they could find, and her whole body hurt.

"If I hear you say anything about us to anyone, worse things might happen. Now, get the hell out of my sight." Yelena's eyes were shining flames as she finished her speech.

Marin, too afraid of her life, escaped from the presence of Yelena as fast as she could. Her mind went blank on how she even reached the first floor.

A maid awaited her arrival and gave her a small bag. "Lady Marin, we already have transported all of your belongings to your apartment. Would you like me to drive you there?"

"Take me there..." Marin sighed; the maid didn't even bow to her.

Ten minutes later, from the window of the car, she could see the tower in its full glory. Its height was a thousand meters long, penetrating the sky.

"It belongs to me... I lived there for a whole ten years. How come I don't get any share of it..." Her twisted mind still wondered about getting back.

In the darkest depths of her heart, an idea came to the surface. "If Ray died, who could get all the wealth?"

"How can I do that though? He's protected by the militancy and Yelena by his side." The night of the attack came back to his mind. "The judges told him he was their prime target! I can sell them information."

His hands shook from the mix of emotions; both fear and excitement were affecting her mind at the same time.

"It's a high risk, high gain!"

A devilish smile appeared on her lips as she thought about what she needed to do to get back her place.
