Chapter 30 - Chapter 2: Assessing the Situation

The middle-aged man's actions was contradictory to what the baby thought.

Instead of violently lashing out, the man took hesitant steps towards the side of the bed and lowered himself on his knees.

He reached out and brushed a strand of hair out of the woman's face, his hand lingered on her cheek.

"Are you okay, my love?" He asked.

He could sense that nothing is wrong with neither his wife or children, but he still wanted to hear a verbal confirmation from his wife.

This will put him more at ease than his own predictions.

The woman smiled at him and nodded.

"I'm okay, and so is our children." She said, glancing at their children in her arms.

The two babies watch the display of affection silently, as if they didn't want to interrupt the moment.

The woman found this very cute, but she also felt that her children were more aware than normal newborns are supposed to be.

"Little geniuses, aren't we?" She lovingly teased.

The father poked the boy's cheek that has lost its paleness and had turned a faint red.

The boy squirmed as if in protest with the father's actions.

"Hahaha"

The man laughed at the boy's actions and did the same to the little girl who had the same reaction as the boy.

"Hahaha," He laughed again, "cheeky little brats."

The woman silently smiled at her family, grateful for the two new additions to their family that already changed their lives after only being in this world for a few minutes.

This change is immediately evident in the amount of emotion her husband, Magnus, is displaying, which has become an increasingly rare sight these days.

"I think it's time we name them, Magnus." The woman said.

"Yes, you're right." He carefully scooped the boy in his arms. "You first."

The woman, Carmilla, could only shake her head at the shamelessness of her husband.

She put her hands under the baby girls armpits and raised her into the air.

"Isadora–a powerful and ancient name that carries the weight of authority and elegance. A name for a future matriarch.

Aurelia–ethereal, alluring, softer and more melodic. Perfect for a woman that shall use her charm and social standing as one of her primary weapons.

From this day forth, you carry the moniker: Isadora Aurelia Dracul."

Fwuum

Carmilla let go of the baby, Isadora, but instead of falling, a floating red energy came from out of nowhere and swept underneath the girl, keeping her in the air.

The red energy circled Isadora a few times before entering her glabella, completely disappearing.

Carmilla caught her before she could fall.

"It's done. Your turn." She said to Magnus.

Magnus copied Carmilla; raising the boy to the air with his hands underneath the boys' armpits.

"Julian–dark and romantic, but at the same time it's soft and carries a sense of mystery. A name fit for a future lady killer."

Carmilla could only helplessly roll her eyes, while Magnus carried on unbothered.

"Valerius–it's ancient, wealthy and intimidating. A name for an aristocrat and a predator.

From this day forth, you shall carry the moniker: Julian Valerius Dracul."

The same red energy appeared and kept Julian afloat, and circled him a few times before disappearing into his glabella.

Julian felt a slight tingle deep inside his being, as if his soul has been marked.

Even though their parents named them without any fancy theatrics and it seemed like it was a spur of the moment thing, he knew that this event was more important than it appeared to be.

Before he could run through more thoughts he felt a heavy tired swept over him, and before he knew it, he fell asleep in the hands of his father.

********

Faint moonlight spilled through the curtains of the birth chamber.

Julian slowly opened his eyes and was greeted by red linens.

He was lying on his stomach in a cot.

'Looks like it's night already.' He mused, the darkness of the room affirming his thoughts.

Julian tried to turn over, but found it extremely difficult. After some effort he managed to turn his head to the other side of the cot.

The sight of his sister's crimson eyes froze him in place.

She stared at him without even blinking, Julian tried to hold her stare, but a moment later he found himself involuntarily looking away.

'What the hell is wrong with her?'

He looked back at her and found her still staring at him, still not blinking, still not moving. Seemingly in a daze.

Julian felt uncomfortable, but not in the way you would feel when a stranger on the bus would stare at you.

But in the way a puppy would feel when a little girl would stare at it through the window of a pet shop.

It felt as if his sister could shower him in hugs and kisses at any moment.

'Tch. Let's ignore her for now.'

Still feeling slightly uncomfortable, Julian decided that it was best to ignore her for now and to focus on something more important: making sense of his situation.

'Seems like I reincarnated.'

Julian was familiar with the term.

In his previous life, the work he did required a lot of laying low and being away from people and technology, that's why he picked up reading.

It was a way to cure his perpetual state of boredom, and it worked. In fact, he became addicted to reading.

He spent two thirds of his day just consuming knowledge.

From reading posts on social media, to books, to poetry, news, novels, lightnovel, manga, manhwa, manhua. He made sure to read as much as possible from as many sources as possible.

And that is where he got familiar with the term reincarnation, as many of the stories he read had such a theme.

'And it seems I reincarnated in a world filled with magic and different races. And it seems like I'm a vampire myself.'

The reason for this conclusion is because he saw and felt the red energy enter him and his sister during their "naming ceremony".

And as for the vampire part?

Him, Isadora and the man that sired them had crimson eyes. Red eyes and a vampire go hand-in-hand.

Also he found himself lying on red bedding, the furniture in the room was made from red wood and the room had black marble walls.

That is clearly the aestethics of a vampire.

And his surname is Dracul.

Dracula was the name of many vampires in novels he read and in movies he watched. And he was very powerful, the first vampire in existence.

The only outlier was the woman that gave birth to him, his mother in this world. As she didn't have the trademark red eyes or any other indicator of her being a vampire.

She appears to be very much human.

Well, except for her white hair, as woman in his world are not known to have that color of hair naturally.

All-in-all, it is pretty clear that he is no longer in his world.

This was by far the most bizarre thing that ever happened to him, but he still kept his cool.

The reason for being so calm is the grueling hours of training he underwent in his previous life and the fact that he is a baby and that there is nothing else he could do but wait and be cute.

But there was still some stuff that that he was happy about: like getting a second chance of life and dying without pain.
