Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 17 — Shadows of Recognition

The corridor outside the hospital room felt colder than before.

Feriha leaned against the wall, letting the weight of the girl's words settle in her chest like stones. 💖

Ravihan stood a few feet away, arms crossed, his expression sharp with concern.

"She knew your name before she even saw you," he said quietly.

"That's not a coincidence."

"I know," Feriha whispered.

Her voice trembled despite her attempt to sound steady.

She kept seeing the girl's face;

the confusion, the fear, the moment she pointed at the bracelet. 📿

"She saw someone wearing this," Feriha said, touching the silver band on her wrist. "Someone… connected to that place."

"Selene," Ravihan added. 🙃

The name hung in the air like poison.

Feriha shook her head.

"There's more. The way she said Selene spoke about me… it felt personal. Like she knows something I don't."

Ravihan stepped closer.

"Feriha, Selene is manipulating everything. She wants you to doubt yourself."

"Or," Feriha said slowly, "she wants me to remember something."

Ravihan frowned.

"Remember what?" 🤔

"That's the problem."

Feriha looked down at her hands.

"I don't know."

Before Ravihan could respond, the hospital lights flickered.

Once.

Twice.

A nurse hurried past them.

"Sorry! Power fluctuation in the south wing;we're checking the generator." 🔦

But a chill crawled up Feriha's spine.

Her instincts whispered the truth:

This wasn't an accident.

Ravihan's phone buzzed.

He glanced at it, and his expression darkened.

"What is it?" Feriha asked.

He turned the screen toward her.

A message from an unknown number.

No name.

No introduction.

Just two words:

"She's awake." 😐

Feriha's breath caught.

"She? Who—"

Ravihan didn't answer.

He was already moving, fast.

Feriha followed him down the hall, her pulse pounding.

When they reached the girl's room, the door was half-open…

and the bed was empty. 🛏

Machine wires lay scattered on the floor.

The window was open.

Curtains fluttered in the cold night wind.

Feriha stepped inside, heart spiraling.

On the pillow lay something small;a folded piece of paper.

Her hands trembled as she opened it.

A sketch.

Simple, rough lines.

But unmistakable.

A drawing of two children holding hands.

One with a blue ribbon. 💠

One with a silver bracelet.

Underneath, a message:

"Feriha, come find me."

Her ears rang.

Her vision blurred. 😣

The girl wasn't just a survivor.

She was part of Feriha's past.

And now she was gone.
