Chapter 8 - Chapter 6 — The Gotham Sanctum

Gotham. The city of endless shadows. A place where fear thrived in every alley, every corner, every flickering streetlamp. Perfect. Perfect for a Sanctum.

If you were truly reincarnated into a world, interacting with its main characters wasn't optional—it was necessary. And Gotham promised opportunities. Bruce Wayne. The Bat-Family. Maybe even Alfred. I had to see them, study them, understand them. But first… I had to survive the city.

Crime crawled through Gotham like rats in the sewers. Ordinary wards wouldn't suffice. This city demanded powerful protection spells. Illusions layered upon illusions. Barriers that could repel demons, spirits, and any mortal curious enough to stumble across my work.

I surveyed a derelict skyscraper in the financial district. Perfect bones. Strong foundation. Ley lines snaked beneath it, feeding the city's fear and chaos—a well of raw magical energy to anchor the Sanctum.

Using a blend of Eldritch magic, Loki's illusion mastery, and my own analytical touch, I began construction. The building shifted and folded under my hands, brick and steel moving as if alive. Portals transported materials instantly. Serpents carried enchanted mortar. The building practically assembled itself in response to my thoughts.

Three weeks later, the structure stood complete. Sleek, imposing, yet perfectly mundane to the ordinary eye. To anyone not attuned to magic, it appeared as another abandoned high-rise.

Then came the enchantments.

A full week was devoted solely to protection spells, wards, and illusions. Layers of concealment twisted reality itself: mortals walking by saw only a crumbling shell; demons and magical intruders were repelled by barriers that burned, froze, or bound them instantly. Ley lines fed the defenses, amplified by my Time Stone, constantly adjusting the spells as the city itself changed.

By the end, the Gotham Sanctum was not just hidden—it was untouchable. A fortress of magic and illusions, perfectly adapted to the chaos of its surroundings.

Standing in the central chamber, I felt the heartbeat of the city flow through the wards, feeding and strengthening them. I smiled.

Now, Gotham had a guardian it didn't even know existed. And soon, I would meet its most infamous residents.
