Chapter 1 - Chapter-1: A New Life

The summer was over. It was mid-October. The summer weather refused to give way to autumn. Magni hadn't woken up yet. His mother entered his room to wake him up. She sat by his bed and ran her hand through her son's red hair.

"You got your hair from your father. His hair was also always a mess every morning. Wake up now, don't be late for your first day of school," she said.

Magni slowly opened his eyes. His dark blue eyes sparkled with the light coming through the window. He stretched and looked at his mother. "Good morning, Mom," he said with a smile.

His mother got up and left the room. As she left, she told him his breakfast was ready and to get dressed and come downstairs. Magni nodded in approval, went and washed his face. His long hair almost reached his shoulders. His new school was nothing like the schools we know. It was a school attended by Heirs.

Heirs are individuals whose lineage has been tasked or rewarded by the gods. This grants them powers associated with the gods.

However, such a power had never existed in Magni's family. In other words, Magni was not a Cosmyth user. He had entered this school thanks to his intelligence and success. This was not going to stop him. He would do his best and become even stronger than the heir of a god.

Those who graduate from the school become special military personnel. They become one of the greatest weapons of the country they were born in or their lineage comes from.

After leaving the bathroom in his room, he put on the clothes that were hanging on his desk chair. A plain, pleasant, grey short-sleeved top; underneath, he wore his seasonal sweatpants. He glanced at the posters on his room wall. Most of the posters belonged to singers. One of his favorites was the poster of Ado. She was his favorite singer. Magni was walking down the stairs. He left his backpack next to his shoes and sat down at the table to eat breakfast. His sister, Thrud, came out of her room and entered the living room.

Magni and Thrud were fraternal twins. The same red hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. Thrud sat next to Magni and began her breakfast.

"Magni, what are you going to do going to that school? You don't even have an Heirloom. Couldn't you go to a normal high school like me?"

"No, I'm going to that school and do what no one else can. I will do my best even though I'm not a Cosmyth user. I will work hard and get stronger. I will be even stronger than the Heirs. Besides, I would never want to go to a school like yours. The people there are so stupid."

"Hey! I'm not stupid. You're just a nerd."

"I'm not a nerd. But you are definitely stupid."

"Nerd!"

"Stupid!"

"Nerd!"

"Stupid!"

Their mother roared angrily, "Enough! Stop fighting! Both of you, quickly to school!"

Both finished their breakfast and got ready. Thrud was the first to leave. Next was Magni. His mother adjusted the collar of his shirt.

"Don't get stressed, okay? It doesn't matter if you have powers or not. Even if you can't stay at the school, we are here for you. Besides, there are many high schools that would want you," she said and kissed her son on the forehead.

Magni said, "Mom, don't worry. I'll stay at the school. I feel it, no... I know it."

He hugged his mother. Then he left the house and walked to the bus stop. If he didn't have power, he wouldn't be able to stay at the school. Today was Magni's birthday. He was turning 17.

Although Cosmyth users are generally born with these abilities, it can emerge later in some users. According to records, the person who received their power the latest so far gained it on the day they turned 17. Today was his last chance. If his power didn't emerge by midnight, it never would.

Even though he knew no one in his family had such a power, he kept the hope inside him alive. A few minutes later, the school bus arrived. Magni got on the bus and sat in one of the middle-row double seats. He placed his bag on the empty seat next to him, put on his headphones, and leaned back. As the vehicle drove towards the school, he closed his eyes and let himself drift with the music. He was daydreaming. During this, he felt warmth on his shoulder. He took off his headphones and opened his eyes. The most beautiful girl he had ever seen was there.

The girl requested, "Could you take your bag, please?" Magni immediately lifted his bag from the seat. The girl sat next to him.

"Hi, I'm Urania."

"Magni, nice to meet you."

"Are you going to Cosmo too?"

"Yes!"

"What grade are you in?"

"My first year."

"Mine too!"

Magni and Urania continued to chat until they arrived at school. Urania was the Heir of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love. When Magni told Urania that he had no power, he thought she would look down on him. But she didn't. Urania reacted in a way Magni didn't expect.

With a warm smile on her face, she said, "That's okay, even if you don't stay at the school, we can still be friends."

Her attitude seemed strange to Magni. In his hometown, people generally acted coldly towards each other. But Urania had talked to him as if they had known each other for a long time. Their relationship was probably always going to be like this. His first impression of her was that she was very affectionate and friendly. Most likely, Urania was like this with everyone. Was this due to the power of her Cosmyth or was it entirely an effect of her own personality? It looked like he would find the answer to this at school. When their conversation ended, they had arrived at school. They got off the vehicle and went inside.

At the entrance, there was a dark-skinned, tall, hazel-eyed, and well-built man. He was holding a list. He approached Magni and Urania.

"Hello, you must be Magni and Urania. I am Aidoneus. I am the Heir of Hades. I am your combat training and class teacher. Please go up to your classroom and wait for me. The others are upstairs," he said.

Magni and Urania walked up the school stairs.

"I'm excited. How about you, Magni?"

"Yes, me too."

The two of them entered the classroom together. The classroom looked very modern. The walls were painted a faint purple hue, and there were pictures of important Cosmyth users above the board. In the back of the classroom were pictures of people he thought belonged to their teachers. There were 8 people inside. Magni's attention was drawn to someone whose gaze was fixed on him. He was a young man about 1.70 meters tall, with fair skin, blonde hair, and yellow eyes. The young man got up from his desk and came over to Magni.

In a very gentlemanly manner, he said, "Sol Leventis. Your name?"

"Magni Hiperaspis. Nice to meet you."

Sol seemed to radiate light around him. Magni met the rest of his classmates in order. After all, he would be in the same classroom with these people for 3 years.

His analysis of these people was as follows:

Luna, Sol's sister. The Heir of Selene, the Moon Goddess. With her silver hair and eyes, she resembled an elf straight out of a medieval movie. She and Sol were also fraternal twins.

Amor, the Heir of Eros, the God of Love. Wheat-skinned, black-haired, black-eyed. A little shorter than Sol. A very flirtatious personality. Prone to flirting with all the girls in the class.

Neptune, the Heir of Poseidon, the God of the Seas. Brown-haired, blue-eyed, tall. He looked like a cold-blooded killer. He was leaning against the wall with emotionless eyes. His long, curly hair covered the sides of his face.

Aurora, the Heir of Eos, the Goddess of Dawn. She was the most peculiar and striking person among them. Her eyes were a color between brown and red. Although her hair was red, the tips turned yellow. The state of her hair seemed very beautiful to Magni. When he told her that her hair was beautiful, Aurora reciprocated in the same way.

Hecate, the Heir of the Goddess of Darkness with the same name. She was a short girl with dark skin, curly black hair, and dark brown eyes. She had a thin physique. It was obvious from her appearance that she was one of those types obsessed with fashion. She was carrying a chic handbag. She was wearing a brown skirt with white and red checkered patterns on it.

Next to her was Diana. Diana was the Heir of Artemis, the Goddess of the Wilderness. Brown-haired, she stood in a separate corner from the others, chatting with Hecate. Her demeanor clearly showed that she did not want to be there.

Finally, Han. Han was the Heir of Han the Burnt, the Messenger God. Like Magni, he was born outside of Greece. Because of this, Magni felt a closeness to him.

He had met everyone in the class. When the others asked Magni what his Cosmyth was, he told them he didn't have one. While almost everyone else took it normally, Luna and Sol gave him disdainful looks. Han told him to be careful or he might die in the test. The way he talked about death made it seem very ordinary. It was as if he had witnessed someone's death before. Amor didn't care much.
