Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1: ORDINARY AFTERNOON

The last bell of the day rang, signaling the end of classes. Aira packed her things quietly, listening to the chatter of her classmates as they rushed out. She didn't mind the attention or the quiet admiration — she had long stopped noticing.

Her final class had been straightforward, the teacher explaining concepts she already understood. Aira followed along carefully, jotting down notes, not out of pride, but to make it easier to review later. When a classmate leaned over and whispered, "Could you explain number seven to me?" she smiled softly.

"Sure," she said gently, pointing at the problem and explaining it step by step. "It's easier if you think of it this way."

The student nodded, eyes brightening. Aira returned her attention to her notebook, never once needing to boast. She liked helping others — that was all.

After school, Aira walked home through the familiar streets, enjoying the late afternoon sunlight. Her mind wandered to her sister. She loves honey-glazed bread. I should get some for her, Aira thought, picking up her pace.

The bakery smelled sweet and warm as she entered. She bought a loaf, handing over the coins carefully. A small mishap sent one coin skittering across the floor, and she bent down to pick it up.

"Don't worry about it," the clerk said kindly. "It happens to everyone."

Aira gave a soft smile. "Thank you," she replied simply, tucking the coin back into her purse. She liked little moments like these — ordinary, quiet, and kind.

At home, her sister was waiting, a novel in hand. "Aira! Come here! You've got to hear what's happening today!"

Aira set the bread on the counter. "Alright, what's happening?"

Her sister's eyes sparkled. "Evalie Dawncrest finally meets Lucien Arcteris, the famous mage! And the palace—"

Aira listened carefully, letting her sister excitedly retell the story. She asked questions here and there, curious about the world her sister loved so much. "Wait, so the princess really did that? And the mage responded like that?"

Her sister nodded eagerly. Aira smiled softly. "Sounds interesting. I'm glad you're enjoying it."

By the time the sun dipped lower, casting golden light across her room, Aira finished her chores and climbed into bed. She pulled the blanket around her, dark blue hair spilling across the pillow, and let herself relax.

Another ordinary day, she thought, peaceful and content. Nothing special. Just… me.

And for now, that was enough.
