Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 ⥤ Born on a Battlefield at the Start? Being Stalked by Little Lolis!

The Oykot Kingdom was a member nation of the World Government, yet it remained an extremely remote and small country.

This once peaceful nation was now littered with corpses and engulfed in artillery fire.

Ever since Pirate King Gol D. Roger stood on the execution platform and spoke those tempting words, the Great Pirate Era had begun!

Countless vicious people set out to sea in search of the great treasure, wreaking havoc everywhere and creating wave after wave of ruthless pirates.

The Oykot Kingdom had suffered frequent pirate invasions and slaughter in recent years. A small village within the kingdom had been reduced to ruins in the pirates' plundering.

At this moment, a small figure suddenly emerged, stumbling through the ruins. It was a little boy, his face blackened by smoke, his clothes tattered and worn — he looked exactly like a beggar.

Noyer's face was filled with confusion.

I actually transmigrated to the world of One Piece?

That's right — he wasn't from this world. He came from a mysterious country on Earth. Just a few hours ago, Noyer was an ordinary college student, but somehow he had transmigrated to Blue Planet, the world of One Piece.

"I was just looking at some study materials in the middle of the night! Was it really necessary to electrocute me to death!" He angrily pointed at the sky and roared.

And besides, couldn't you have found a better world to send me to? Why the hell did you send me to a place where the world can collapse at any moment?

Noyer sat hugging his knees on the ruins, his small figure looking lonely, helpless, and pitiful.

Feeling the cold touch on his neck, he pulled out a tag to examine it. This was the only thing he had on him after arriving in this world. His full name was written in flowing script beside his engraved birthday.

Kilros D. Noyer…

D!

Almost instantly, Noyer noticed that flashy yet mysterious letter. Upon seeing the D, his first thought was of the legend of the Clan of D. — the Natural Enemy of God — from the original work.

Everyone with a D in their name was truly a force to be reckoned with. Luffy, Ace, Roger, Garp, and so on.

"But even if I have a D in my name, I can't possibly develop properly right now! This body is only three years old…" After complaining, Noyer vented by waving his short, stubby little hands.

Though only three years old, his physique was clearly not that of an ordinary child — at this age, his height was already approaching 1.2 meters.

In his previous life, Noyer would have thought this was from growth hormones, but in this world, he felt it was far from enough. This world was full of kids who had freakish physiques by age seven or eight.

Just then, a voice suddenly echoed in his mind.

『 Ding! System Loading Complete! 』

『 Talent Copy System Successfully Activated! 』

{T/N: 『 』 only for system messages that seem automatic.}

Noyer froze, then immediately burst with joy!

A cheat! A cheat! Sure enough, the system arrives late but arrives nonetheless! Having read so many novels, how could he not know about this thing called a system?

Reaching the pinnacle of life, marrying a rich and beautiful woman, punching the Four Emperors and kicking the Admirals — everything seemed within reach!

"System! Tell me what you can do!" Noyer said excitedly.

「 This system is the Talent Copy System, which can copy and acquire the special Talents of everyone in this world. 」

{T/N: 「 」 for conversations with the system.}

"Special Talents? Why does that sound… a bit weak?" Noyer said with some disdain.

But a cheat is a cheat — having one is better than nothing.

He continued, "So what Talents do I have now?"

「 Talent panel has been opened, please check, host. 」

A semi-transparent screen appeared before Noyer's eyes, divided into seven columns from top to bottom. The first column glowed purple and displayed several lines of text:

﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁

〔 Otherworlder 〕

〔 Rank: Purple 〕

〔 Description: A person from another world who, like a god, knows many important characters' stories and secrets in this world. Grants an otherworldly charisma bonus — charm automatically starts at 80 points at birth, then increases by one point each year until maxed out. Not affected by age or other external factors. 〕

〔 Note: Cannot be Removed 〕

﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂

What the hell is this?

"System, what does purple rank mean? Are there higher ranks?" Noyer asked in confusion.

「 The Talents in this world are divided into five ranks, from worst to best: White (5th), Blue (4th), Purple (3rd), Red (2nd), and Gold (1st). The Talent the host was born with is a Purple Rank Talent. 」

{T/N: I am a very forgetful person, so I will include the numbering of 5th, 4th, and so on to remember their ranks.}

Noyer nodded in understanding, though this Purple Talent had nothing to do with combat power…

But at least… at least he confirmed that he'd be handsome in the future.

「 Additionally, the host has a Talent limit of seven. If there are more, old Talents will need to be replaced. 」 「 When intersecting with important characters or plot lines in this world, the system will award 'Talent Copy Cards'. There are five card colors, each corresponding to the five Talent ranks. 」 「 Additionally, many supplementary rewards related to characters and plots will be issued. 」

It sounds like… This system seems pretty decent?

"But what about this charm value of 80? How do I check that, system?"

「 Opening host's personal panel… 」

﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃﹃

" Kilros D. Noyer "

" Charm: 80 [Max: 100] "

" Constitution: 80 [Max: 999] "

" Talents:〔 Otherworlder [Purple/3rd Rank] 〕"

﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄﹄

…That's it?

Isn't this character panel a bit too barebones? Just two rows of ability values?

At this moment, the system's voice thoughtfully responded again.

「 When the host learns new abilities in the future, the system will update the data in real time. 」

Noyer sighed. You mean I don't know anything right now, right?

Well, you're absolutely right about that.

"Wait, what about the newbie gift package?" He suddenly thought of something and slapped his thigh.

After receiving a cheat and coming to another world, how could there not be a newbie bonus?

"System, system, where's my newbie gift package?" Noyer said, full of anticipation.

After a moment of silence, the system responded:

『 Ding! Congratulations to the Host For Obtaining the Newbie Gift Package: White Rank Talent 〔 Energy Enhancement 〕! 』

﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁﹁

〔 Energy Enhancement 〕

〔 Rank: White [5th]〕

〔 Description: Your energy has been enhanced. Even as a child, you will have surprising stamina and endurance. 〕

﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂﹂

Noyer's eyes widened, waiting for more, but… That was it.

The newbie gift package is just a White Talent? You've really outdone yourself, you damn system!

Energy enhancement? My energy is way more vigorous than you think!

Greedy as he was, Noyer stomped his feet in anger. If the system had consciousness, it would definitely be crying.

System: There was no newbie reward at all originally! Was it easy for me to squeeze out even that little bit?!

After fussing around for quite a while, Noyer felt hungry. It was a three-year-old child's body, after all. He needed to find something to eat.

He rubbed his stomach, stood up, and continued groping through the ruins, hoping to scavenge some supplies.

What he didn't know was that not far away, a pair of bright eyes was warily watching him.

Naturally, Noyer couldn't detect the spying.

The owner of those large eyes had short purple hair and a petite body that looked like it could be blown away by the wind. She appeared to be about the same age as him. In her arms, she held what looked like a one-year-old little girl, whose small head was topped with tufts of orange hair.

The orange-haired little sister's face was dirty, looking pitiful. She tugged on her sister's arm, and when she spoke, her voice was filled with a milky sweetness, "Sister… I'm so hungry…"

Hearing this, the older sister frowned, watching Noyer's gradually retreating figure. She bit her lip, then said softly, "Be good, don't talk, okay? We'll follow him."

Then, the two small human cubs tiptoed along behind another lost soul.

After walking for quite a while, Noyer finally sensed something was wrong. Why does it feel like there's a bratty kid aura coming at me?

He frowned warily, slowed his pace, and suddenly whipped his head around!

Huh? Nothing there — but behind a damaged wall, a purple ahoge and an orange ahoge were exposed in the air…

{T/N: Ahoge is 'foolish hair', those hairs in anime who are always up and refuse to be normal.}

Noyer raised an eyebrow, pretending not to notice, and continued walking nonchalantly. After just a few steps, he suddenly turned around again!

Two tufts of hair poked up like wild flowers — from a distance, they looked like little mushrooms.

He nearly burst out laughing. Wanting to tease them, he turned back around, took one step, then whipped around again.

A one-year-old cub jumped out right under his nose. The older sister stepped out too, but seeing Noyer staring at them, she quickly pulled her little sister back.

Noyer chuckled softly and called out to the two girls behind cover, "Come on out, I can see you!"

Both little ones trembled, then slowly emerged from behind the wall.

Two girls, one big and one small. Were they orphans of war?

Noyer made his smile as gentle as possible, walked up to them, and asked softly, "Why are you following me?"

The orange-haired little girl timidly hid behind her sister. The older sister looked up at Noyer, who was a head taller, and said, "We're looking for something to eat."

"Food?" Noyer was stunned.

He was starving himself — where was he supposed to find food?

"I don't have any food either. How about we walk together? Maybe we can find something?"

The two little girls fell silent.

Noyer scratched his head, "If you don't want to, that's fine."

He turned and walked away. The two little ones hesitated, but still followed at a distance.

Noyer glanced back at the two sisters and breathed a sigh of relief. After all, they were just children — they trusted others easily.

And so, he led his two little followers. They hadn't walked far when the stench of rot and burning grew stronger, making it hard to keep their eyes open.

Bloodstains on the ground increased. After just a few steps, Noyer saw several corpses.

His heart turned cold, but with two girls following him, he couldn't show his fear. Step by step, he walked up to a corpse and began searching it with trembling hands.

It appeared to be a pirate's body — covered in knife wounds and bloodstains, a bandana tied around the head, the expression before death extremely fierce. But thank heavens, Noyer found a small bundle at the waist.

He quickly took it down and fumbled to untie it. Inside was only a stale piece of bread.

Swallowing hard, Noyer looked at the girls staring at him expectantly, sighed, and said, "Here, you eat this."

The older sister took the bread and bowed politely in thanks before passing it to her younger sister. The two of them ate it bit by bit.

With this experience under his belt, Noyer became skilled at looting corpses. As the bodies multiplied, the three of them found quite a bit of food. Without realizing it, the relationship between the two sisters and him grew closer.

Gradually, the sky began to darken. Walking through what felt like hell on earth, the three of them grew afraid and randomly found a spot to rest.

Looking at the two sisters huddled together, Noyer's face showed a smile — finding joy amidst suffering.

It seemed to be because of the "Energy Enhancement" Talent — he still didn't feel particularly tired. This ability wasn't bad for him at the moment.

Well… guess the system really outdid itself, huh?

◇◆◈◆◇

On the distant waters, a Marine battleship was slowly approaching.

On the deck, a pink-haired girl in Marine uniform stared blankly at the sky. Not far away, a group of Marine soldiers watched her, concern evident on their faces as they discussed.

"Is Bell-mère okay?"

"She hasn't eaten for several days now. Her body won't be able to take it."

"There's nothing we can do. After all, her previous squad…"

"Shh, keep it down!"

Bell-mère seemed not to hear the whispers behind her. Her roguish eyes now held a sorrow that couldn't be dispelled.

"Assemble!"

Just then, the battleship's commanding officer suddenly roared. The soldiers on the ship quickly assembled in neat formation on the deck, including Bell-mère.

"Seaman First Class Bell-mère!"

{T/N: Seaman First Class is the 16th highest rank in the Marines, right below Petty Officer. For comparison, Chore Boy is the lowest rank at 19th.}

"Yes!" Bell-mère swept away her melancholy and responded with spirited vigor.

"You lead a team to land first and scout the village. The rest follow me to support the kingdom's interior!"

"Yes!" Before departure, Bell-mère walked up to the Marine officer, "Sir, about my resignation…"

The Marine officer's eyes showed complexity, "Are you really leaving? You still have a bright future ahead of you."

Bell-mère silently shook her head.

"Your entire squad was wiped out, and you're the only survivor. You should live on carrying their hopes!" The Marine officer's tone grew agitated, but seeing the dejected woman before him, he gave up, "Think it over carefully."

"Yes…"

Bell-mère gazed at the nightmare-like battlefield in the distance, sighing inwardly:

'What meaning is there in living?'

◇◆◈◆◇

On the battlefield, Noyer had just fallen into a light sleep when he heard noisy footsteps nearby. He jolted awake immediately.

The two sisters leaning against him sensed something as well and woke up.

The footsteps grew closer. In the dim twilight, Noyer fought down the fear in his heart. Sweat beaded densely on his forehead. He shielded the little girls behind him and gritted his teeth. When the figures came closer, he looked carefully.

Marine uniform? That person is… Bell-mère!

Holy moly?! Could it be that behind me are…?

{T/N: I was tempted to put 'Holly, Jolly' here…}
