Chapter 1: Thrain Orinson
To the residents of Bilskirnir (the capital of the Lightning Clan) stormy nights were nothing to fear, but the Storm that graced their lands that night were especially fierce, as if they heralded the arrival of something greater.
In the Palace of the Lightning Clan's Patriarch, Orin in all his infinite wisdom couldn't help but worry for his wife Serge. As one of the few people who had stayed true with him through his struggles as Patriarch she held a permanent spot in his heart, and while she said she wanted the chance to complete her duties as a wife and give him a child.
He had his doubts, given her frail body, but that woman once she had an idea it was hard as hell to convince her to let it go. Remembering the wonderful times he had since he had taken her from the Grand Cathedral of the Volva (more like kidnapped her of her own volition).
As he was reminisced about how they met, a flash of thunder lit the night sky, followed by a thunder strike so great that some of the residents of the city lost their hearing that night. Even villages a hundred kilometers away from the capital heard it.
Following the strike Orin heard the cries of a baby from his wife's room, making haste he rushed to his wife's bedside.
Lying there, struggling to breath, she looked like a fragile flower – one touch could scatter her petals to the wind "Orin please tell me our child survived?" waking up the first thing she saw was the worrying face of her Husband and not hearing the cries of her child who had fallen asleep, she worried that her body had not been strong enough to bring life into her child.
Motioning for the servants to bring the child he showed his wife what she had nearly risked her life for. A baby boy with the clearest of blue eyes (like Jewels) and a few strands of golden hair.
"He's beautiful" Looking at her son she felt nothing but love- no grudge for the risk she had taken, nearly losing her life in the process for this is what she wanted 'a child to call her own' "He will grow up to be his father's son, A plague on his enemies while being a guardian to his people, and he will your dashing looks which were enough to seduce a woman of the cloth" the way she said it was not like she was asking for her child to grow up like that, no she was stating a fact.
"Ha ha ha ha ha" hearing that she was enough to joke around his hope that she might survive this ordeal grew with the progression of their conversation. Giving her the moment of rest she so desperately required for her body to heal he left the room with his newly born child.
Child birth was already a life-or-death ordeal for women in their time and with her fragile body it was more so for her, Looking at what his wife risked her health for Orin tried with all his might to hate it, but the pure look his son (who had woken up, but was not crying in his father's presence) he could find nothing in his heart but love.
"You are beautiful child" he spoke while caressing his child's face.
5 Years Later
"Brother! Brother! Wait for me, you know I can't walk as fast as you" a small girl wearing a green dress with black hair chased after a boy with golden locks only possible if he had not cut it since he was born.
"Shhh! Come on Hela you gave me your word that if I brought you with me you would do your best to stay hidden, but with the way you are screaming out it's like you want us to be found" looking back at his sister two years younger than him he couldn't help but chide her, and her looking like their mother and giving him the sad eyes was not going to help her this time.
Now near the training grounds of the royal guards their already amateurish stealth skills were cranked up to eleven. Peeking around the corner looking at the guards training Thrain had stars in his eyes, till his sister spoke next.
"Brother I think we should be returning now, I'm sure your teacher is back already back, and by now he would have already notified our Father." Now beginning to worry about their father's wrath Hela tried to persuade her brother to turn back, but he like their mother was stubborn.
While the two children believed they were hiding, they had already been seen by the guards, these men and women were those who had been tasked with protecting the house of their leader how could they not sense the gazes of two untrained children.
Hundingr the leader of the royal guards, sworn brother of the Patriarch by way of the Chalice and in times of war one of the generals of the clan, believing that they had watched enough called out to them.
"My Prince, Princess, I believe you have seen enough, please come out now."
"Uncle, it's nice to see you are in good health" Coming out Thrain immediately tried to butter up their uncle, all Hela did was give a curtsy showing that she took her lessons seriously as compared to her brother.
"Thrain I believe you and I last laid eyes on one another just yesterday, I don't think my health would have deteriorated that much in such a small amount of time. And are you not supposed to be in the middle of your lessons." Finding out that his attempt at ass kissing had failed, he started having a premonition that he had to get out of there, and when his lessons were brought up he knew he had to get out of there.
"Yes I would also like to know why your teacher came to me again son" hearing the voice of his father's voice he dreaded turning around, But when he felt a hand on his shoulder all his instincts screamed at him to run.
"Hahaha You sure are my son, with how restless you can be, I'll forgive you this time because your mother is asking for you, so please take your sister and pay your mother a visit." With that the Prince and Princess were off.
Watching his children walking away Orin couldn't help but comment.
"That child, his not an idiot one would go as far as to call him a genius but what he doesn't like he does not put in the effort into studying and it seems the art of battle has stolen his heart"
Hearing his brother in all but blood speaking Hundingr added his own insight into the children, "It also seems that while she still so young, all signs are pointing at her living a life of always being pulled along her brothers shenanigans"
