Chapter 2 - Don't Talk to the Voices in your Head

Upon hearing the voice in my head, I was transported to a world that seemed to be eternal darkness. I could only see myself and nothing else, not even the ground I stood on. In panic I shouted out, "Hello, is anyone there."

In return a voice came back, seemingly from everywhere in the world at once, "Hello mortal, I am always here." The voice was sparky, not in a playful way but rather like it looked down upon me.

"Who are you?" I asked, quite frightened of the situation I was in.

The reply was quick, but drawn out as if to tease me but the words carried weight. "I guess you can call me god, but more importantly I'm here to call out your bluff."

"What bluff?" I asked.

"Well the fact that you're not an extra, after all you're an extra in this life. Not achieving anything special, not important, just a dreamer with no dreams to follow." It replied.

These words made me angry, mostly because they struck true. With that rage I spoke out, "So why am I here, as an experiment for your entertainment."

"Exactly right, I guess you can be a bit clever sometimes. So, pick a novel and be smart about it, you're going there as an extra."

"And if I refuse?" I asked, still angry.

"You die." The snark was gone from his voice replaced with an uncaring coldness.

"Well pick fast, I have all the time in the world but I'm not wasting it with you," he said, back to his whimsical tone.

The choice to me was simple, life on the line, if aliens had a laser pointed down at me from Mars my choice would always be the same. "The Reaper of the Academy"
