Chapter 73 - The New Technique.

Chapter— The New Technique.

As the dust in the ancient, barren dungeon began to swirl, the heavy atmosphere of malice was met by a sudden, golden radiance. Kaizen, had finally stepped into the fray, his face no longer masked by bureaucratic exhaustion but filled with the fire of a warrior.

"Finally, Kaizen! You came!" Evelyn shouted, her voice a mix of relief and lingering frustration.

Kaizen didn't look back, his eyes locked on the spindly devil hovering in the shadows. "I had to," he replied firmly. "You are all my friends. I cannot let a law written on paper supersede my duty to those I care about."

The devil, recovering from Kaizen's initial surprise attack, snarled. It wiped a trickle of dark, ichorous blood from its lip and hissed, "Another bug crawls into the spider's web. No matter. I will crush the him just as easily as the rest."

The battle reignited with a violent explosion of energy. With Kaizen in the fight, the group's offensive power tripled, but they soon encountered a recurring, agonizing problem: the devil's speed was unnatural. It moved not just with physical quickness, but with a form of instantaneous displacement.

Marin focused her intent, her hands beginning to glow with a fierce, ethereal light. "I'll slow him down!" she cried, attempting to manifest Aura Flame. However, the technique required absolute concentration to anchor the heat to a specific point. Every time she reached the pinnacle of her focus, the devil sensed the thermal shift and flickered away, appearing meters away with a mocking laugh.

Evelyn and Kaizen tried to assist, layering their attacks to trap the monster, but the results were the same. The devil navigated the air like a ghost, leaving their flares of power to strike nothing but empty shadows.

"It's useless!" Marin shouted, her face flushed with anger and fatigue. "As soon as the flame is about to ignite, he's gone! If we could just land one hit, the heat would weaken his regeneration, but we can't catch him!"

Auron watched the cycle repeat, his silver eyes tracking the devil's movements with mathematical precision. He noticed that while they were throwing Aura Spheres like physical projectiles, they were treating Aura Flame as a stationary trap.

"Liod, Chika, Shuri, Uno!" Auron commanded, his voice cutting through the sounds of combat. "Keep him busy! Draw his fire! I need a moment to talk with Evelyn, Kaizen, and Marin."

They stepped forward bravely, distracting the beast with a flurry of strikes. Auron pulled the others into a tight huddle.

"Think about the mechanics," Auron whispered urgently. "When we create an Aura Sphere, we generate it in our palms and throw it. But with Aura Flame, we manifest it at a location we visualize. This means the location of the flame is controllable by our thoughts."

"You're right, Auron," Marin said, wiping sweat from her brow, "but he's too fast for our thoughts to catch up."

"I have an idea," Auron said, his gaze turning inward. "But I need total silence and protection. Kaizen, can you wrap me in a shield?"

Kaizen nodded, weaving a shimmering, translucent barrier around Auron. Inside the dome of light, Auron sat cross-legged and closed his eyes. Outside, the battle raged on as Marin and Evelyn returned to the front lines to buy him time.

The devil hovered in mid-air, raining down dark spheres. "You can never touch me!" he shrieked. "I am the wind! I am the shadow!"

Suddenly, the monster's yellow eyes widened. He felt a sharp spike of heat directly behind his neck. He jerked to the left just as a pillar of blue flame erupted in the exact spot his head had been a millisecond before.

The plaza went silent for a heartbeat. The flame hadn't been thrown; it had simply appeared in mid-air.

Evelyn turned back to the shield, stunned. "Did he just do that?"

Auron opened his eyes, a faint glow emanating from his pupils. "Aura Flame isn't a trap," he said, his voice echoing from within the shield. "It can be generated and controlled in the air itself. Evelyn, Marin—stop trying to just ignite it from just ground, you can ignite it from air too. Visualize the air around him as the fuel."

Taking the advice, Evelyn focused. She didn't look at her hands; she looked at the space where the devil was about to be. A flash of light ignited. The devil dodged again, but this time, the heat singed his cloak. Marin followed suit, manifesting flames with newfound ease.

The devil's laughter turned jagged. "So, you've upgraded your parlor tricks? You can spark the air, but you are still too slow!"

Auron wasn't finished. "I need more time," he muttered. "The manifestation is still too static."

"We've got you!" Evelyn replied, her resolve hardening.

Inside the shield, Auron's concentration deepened. He wasn't just visualizing a point; he was visualizing a path. A stable flame appeared in front of him. Then another. Then another.

"Kaizen," Auron asked, his eyes still closed. "Are they appearing?"

"Yes," Kaizen whispered, watching in awe. "Two... three... five flames."

Auron began to move his hands in a circular motion. The flames began to revolve around his body, picking up speed until they became a blur of blue heat. He was turning the stationary flame into a kinetic orbit.

"Dissolve the shield," Auron commanded. He stood up and shouted to the group, "Everyone, fall back! Let me show him what a 'bug' can really do."

The devil descended, landing on a jagged rock. "Finally, the coward leaves his den. What were you doing in there? Praying?"

"Experimenting," Auron replied coolly. "And you are the test subject."

Auron smashed his hands together in a sharp, resonant strike. At first, nothing happened. The devil began to howl with laughter. "This is your grand plan? Clapping for me?"

Evelyn asked "It not working."

Auron replied, "I am just trying too."

Devil laighed "You just try and I finish you."

Auron ignored him, focusing on the friction of his own aura. Suddenly, One Aura flame ignited abkve his head.

Kaizen said, "I think its working."

Auron replied "Not yet."

He again tried. This time three distinct Aura Flames ignited, one above his head, and two on his both shoulder.

He difused them again.

"Still not what i want"Auron whisper.

Then he concentrated again."I you can do this just concentrate."

And than Ten Aura flame ignited

forming a perfect circular ring that hovered around his wrists and shoulders.

"Evelyn, move!"

Auron thrust his hands spining forward. The ring of flames didn't just sit there; it shot forward like a volley of heat-seeking missiles.

"Slow!" the devil cried, darting to the right.

"Not this time," Auron whispered.

In mid-air, the ring of flames diverted. They didn't travel in a straight line; they curved, tracking the devil's energy signature. The speed increased as the oxygen in the air fed the aura. The flames slammed into the devil's back with a thunderous explosion.

Kaizen froze. An image flashed through his mind—an ancient text he had seen once, describing technique. "How?" he whispered to himself. "How can he discover the Homing Flare?"

The devil crashed to the ground, his regeneration struggling to keep up with the intense heat. He tried to take flight again, but Auron was ready. He generated a second, larger ring with more precision and hurled it. This time, the hit was critical. The devil was pinned against the dungeon wall, his body wreathed in blue fire.

"Now, Marin! Finish it!" Auron shouted.

Marin didn't hesitate. She gathered every ounce of her remaining power into a massive Aura Meteor. The orb of light descended like a falling star, crushing the devil into the earth. With a final, pathetic shriek, the monster dispersed into a cloud of corrupted blue bubbles, leaving nothing but scorched earth behind.

"Good job, Marin," Auron said, his aura finally dimming.

"It was nothing," Marin panted, looking at Auron with wide eyes. "What you did... that wasn't normal. What was that technique?"

"Incredible!" Chika chirped, running over. "I want to learn it!"

Auron became uneasy, shifting his weight. "It... it was just an idea. I haven't even named it properly."

Kaizen stepped forward, his expression unreadable. "No, Auron. There was something very special in what you did. It was more than just a technique."

The group turned to the Kaizen. Evelyn, however, wasn't ready to forgive. "Oh, now you want to talk? Why don't you go back to your office and follow your precious 'law and order'? If the Council finds out you were here, you'll have broken your own rules."

Kaizen looked at the ground in genuine regret. "I am sorry, Evelyn. I was blinded by the weight of my position and forgot my duty as an Auramaster—to protect people, not just protocols." He looked at Auron. "I want to talk to you privately about how you manifested those flames."

"It was nothing special," Auron insisted.

"It was everything!" Kaizen replied, his voice uncharacteristically loud. He then regained his composure. "But you are right. Everyone is tired. Some secrets are best kept between masters for now. I invite you to my office tomorrow."

Later that night, the real Luke sat in his small room, the illusion having been dispelled. He was exhausted, but his mind wouldn't rest.

"Auru, Koru," Luke said, staring at the ceiling. "The Council told Kaizen not to interact with the devils. That feels incredibly strange. If their goal is to protect the world, why would they forbid the Auramaster from fighting the greatest threat?"

"There is something the Council is hiding," Auru replied, her voice filled with a rare darkness. "They aren't just protecting the law; they are protecting a secret."

Luke narrowed his eyes. "Kaizen is hiding something too. He looked at my technique like he had seen it before. I have to find out what it is. If the people at the top are compromised, then the world isn't as safe as we think."

The day ended peacefully for the city, but for Luke, the real battle—the one against the shadows in the high offices—had only just begun.
