Chapter 19 -  An Unholy Alliance

----

Kael stepped back, letting the lock fall open. The Alpha Heir was free.

The Shadow Host and the Alpha Heir stood face-to-face, united by a terrifying, mutual threat. The war had just gained a volatile new alliance.

Valerius, his powerful Lycan senses raging at the proximity of his former Omega, slowly rose from the cell floor. His body was still bruised and battered from Kael's assault, but the sheer force of his Alpha Mana was quickly knitting his bones. He was furious, yet calculating.

"You freed me, Omega," Valerius growled, his voice a low, dangerous rumble. "Do not mistake this for forgiveness. I will rip your throat out once Silas Volkov is dead."

"That is acceptable," Kael replied, his voice calm, devoid of the emotional chaos that defined the Lycan. "Vengeance is the only reliable motivation, Valerius. Silas Volkov is the common enemy. His Shadow Weaver, Seraphina, is the key to my survival, and her destruction is the key to yours."

Kael quickly outlined the plan: Silas was preparing a full-scale strike, knowing the Witches were distracted by the Lycan attack. They needed to secure Seraphina from the **Crimson Spire** before Silas deployed her or sacrificed her for his own power play.

Valerius sneered. "The Crimson Spire? It is the most fortified tower in the Volkov Estate. We need Pack strength, not a single Omega and a half-grown Witch."

"Lianna is not coming," Kael corrected, his eyes hard. "And we are not attacking the Spire with brute force. We are using **stealth and chaos**. Your brute force is only required for the distraction."

Kael quickly explained his TIER 3 skills: **Shadow Step** for infiltration, **Shadow Healing** for instant recovery, and **Shadow Clone** for creating diversions. He needed Valerius's Lycan agility and sensing abilities to breach the Spire's outer perimeter.

Valerius listened, his pride warring with the logic of the strategy. He could sense the terrifying power emanating from Kael's calm demeanor—power he had never imagined possible from an Omega.

"You have grown strong, Shadow Host," Valerius admitted grudgingly. "But I will not take orders from you. We are equal partners in this temporary pact."

"Agreed," Kael conceded instantly. "We are two weapons with the same target. Now move. The truce with the Coven is broken. We have to be gone before Maeve realizes Lianna's deception."

They moved with brutal efficiency, escaping the Deep Chambers and utilizing the same Silent Root Path that Kael and Lianna had used earlier.

***

They emerged near the Old City wall, the cold night air biting at Kael's exposed skin and Valerius's fur-cloaked form.

"Volkov Estate is that way," Valerius pointed, his Lycan eyes cutting through the darkness. "The **Crimson Spire** is the tallest, most magically saturated tower. They use the Blood Essence of the city to fuel its wards."

"We need a distraction," Kael stated, his mind already formulating the chaotic scenario. "Silas Volkov's greatest asset is his secrecy. We will attack his reputation."

Kael activated Shadow Step and vanished, reappearing fifty meters away at the edge of the abandoned district. He manifested five **Shadow Construct Spikes** and hurled them into the five main power conduits of the industrial district.

The Shadow Essence, hostile to all external energy, instantly consumed the electrical flow, causing a massive, catastrophic power surge. The entire district plunged into darkness, followed by a series of explosive failures.

The chaos attracted the immediate attention of the Volkov patrols.

"Now, Valerius. The diversion is set," Kael commanded via a rough mental link he established through their shared Essence proximity.

Valerius roared, a terrifying sound that rivaled the power surge. He shifted partially, his claws elongating, and sprinted toward the nearest Vampire patrol, intent on creating absolute mayhem.

Kael used the distraction to initiate the infiltration. He ran along the perimeter, using **Shadow Step** every time he encountered a strong Essence ward or a concealed Vampire sentry. The skill allowed him to bypass the heavy outer defenses with silent speed.

He arrived at the base of the Crimson Spire, a massive, gothic structure of black stone and fortified steel, built directly over a secret underground Blood Essence reservoir.

***

The Spire's inner perimeter was protected by a complex network of **Blood Essence Wards**—magical laser-like barriers that would instantly vaporize any intruder.

Valerius arrived moments later, covered in fresh Vampire blood, his breath ragged but his eyes blazing with success.

"The perimeter is chaos," Valerius reported. "The Vampires are focused on the industrial power failure and the Lycan attack. The inner core is exposed."

"The Blood Essence Wards are too strong for direct physical contact," Kael observed, watching the crimson lasers pulsing through the air. "We need to find the core conduit that feeds the wards."

Valerius's senses, honed to track Essence flow, immediately located the source. "It is running through the granite pillar, ten meters high. Too thick for my strength."

Kael didn't hesitate. He needed to be inside immediately.

He manifested a precise **Shadow Construct Breaching Maul** and aimed it directly at the granite pillar.

*K-R-A-K-A-K!*

The force of the blow, powered by his Strength (25), cracked the pillar, but did not destroy it. The Blood Essence Wards flickered, but held fast.

"Again!" Valerius commanded, impressed by the raw power.

Just as Kael raised the Maul for the second strike, three high-ranking Volkov Lieutenants materialized on the Spire's roof, their faces grim. They had anticipated a breach.

"The Alpha Heir and the Omega," one Lieutenant sneered. "Lord Silas knew your unholy alliance would fail. **Essence Net!**"

The Lieutenants unleashed a coordinated spell: three massive **Essence Nets**, designed to suppress the targets' magical flow and physical movement, shot down toward Kael and Valerius.

Valerius roared, preparing to transform fully and tear through the nets with brute force.

Kael knew the Essence Nets would bind Valerius, and the delay would allow the Lieutenants to reinforce the Spire.

He acted instantly, manifesting his **Shadow Clone** and initiating **Shadow Step**.

*Flicker.*

The Clone materialized an instant before Kael vanished, throwing itself into the path of the three converging Essence Nets. The Clone was immediately enveloped by the binding spell, sacrificing itself for the main host.

The real Kael reappeared directly behind the granite pillar, undetected, his Maul still manifested.

The Lieutenants laughed, believing they had captured the Omega. Valerius watched, stunned by Kael's brutal efficiency and the instant disappearance.

**"The Clone is the decoy!"** Kael shouted, slamming the Shadow Maul into the granite pillar with maximum force.

*K-R-A-S-H!*

The pillar shattered. The Blood Essence Wards immediately collapsed.

The three Lieutenants stared in horror as their primary defense dissolved.

Kael used the opportunity. He activated **Shadow Step** again, reappearing directly among the Lieutenants on the Spire roof, his Shadow Maul ready.

"Your deception failed," Kael stated, his voice a cold whisper of vengeance.

He did not engage in complex combat. He aimed for immediate **neutralization**. He slammed the Shadow Maul down onto the closest Lieutenant's head, the blow powered by his Strength (25).

The Lieutenant's skull shattered instantly.

The remaining two Lieutenants, frozen by the sudden, terrifying brutality, prepared to attack. They were both powerful, high-tier Vampires.

Kael manifested two **Shadow Construct Throwing Blades** and hurled them at the remaining Lieutenants. The blades struck their shoulders, not killing them, but the immediate **Shadow Echo** feedback drained their core Essence instantly.

They collapsed, neutralized and screaming as their internal Essence flow was violently choked by Kael's hostile energy.

Valerius arrived moments later, finding the Omega standing over three incapacitated Vampires, the air thick with Essence drain.

"Efficient," Valerius admitted, a grudging respect in his tone. "But this brutality will only hasten Volkov's arrival."

"That is the intention," Kael replied, already moving towards the Spire's inner chamber. "We need to secure Seraphina before Silas Volkov returns to reclaim his property."

The true objective was within reach: the traitor Shadow Weaver, the final catalyst for the Nexus stabilization.
