Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 — [Song and Dance]

Marina Gordon—that was the girl's name.

After Michelle introduced her, Marina stood quietly beside him. She had inherited the beauty of Viscount Gordon's wife: her features soft, elegant, and refined. Her beauty was the type that made one glance twice without realizing.

Roan did glance twice… but only twice.

"Roan, where do you want to go today?" Michelle asked with a bright, sunny smile. "If you want to shop, we should go to Commercial Street. For entertainment, Baker Street is the nobles' favorite."

His cheerful face made Roan sigh inwardly.

Careless again… that trait is dangerous…

Michelle added, "Or we can head to the academy first and get your examination done."

"Is Baron Arnold ill? Why does he need an examination at the academy?" Marina asked, puzzled.

Roan quickly explained, smiling, "Miss Marina, it's a misunderstanding. I asked Viscount Gordon to help arrange a test—to check whether I have magic talent."

"I see."

Marina nodded and said no more.

Roan then answered Michelle's original question. "There are many places I'd like to see, but you don't have to trouble yourself. Yesterday I hired a very reliable child as a guide."

Michelle originally wanted to take him to the academy, but Roan continued,

"The ennoblement ceremony still needs a few days. Michelle, why don't you take me to experience the leisure activities of the Royal Capital?"

Arnold Territory had exactly zero leisure activities. When people were barely eating, there was nothing to talk about entertainment.

Besides handling official business, experiencing the charm of the Capital was part of Roan's plan.

"I understand." Michelle nodded enthusiastically. "I didn't expect you to be interested in these things too. Come! I'll take you. There's a wonderful—"

Roan really wanted to say, Your sister is still here…!

But when they arrived, he realized he had misunderstood the bright and sunny little prince.

Michelle had brought him to a song and dance theater.

Not that kind of place.

This establishment catered to nobles and wealthy merchants. Inside, a performance was already underway. Michelle bought three tickets, and they took their seats among the sparse audience—barely a dozen people, all dressed luxuriously, watching the stage with intoxicated expressions.

Roan wasn't particularly interested, but he settled down anyway.

On stage, a young woman around twenty danced lightly as if her body had no weight. Her voice was gentle, ethereal, like a breeze drifting past a church window.

Gradually, Roan became immersed.

The dance was lovely, yes—but the voice…

It was pure. Clear. Untouched.

Like a white-winged angel singing on a sunlit morning.

Roan was sure—this was the cleanest voice he had ever heard.

The Royal Capital truly overflowed with talent.

He closed his eyes to savor the moment—

"Roan. Roan. Wake up."

The angel's face vanished.

Michelle's face appeared instead.

Roan jolted awake in horror.

The beautiful dream had turned into a nightmare.

Michelle sighed helplessly. "If you don't enjoy musicals, just say so. Let's go. Everyone else has already left."

Roan blinked. Sure enough, only the three of them remained.

"I was… so absorbed that I fell asleep," Roan said sincerely.

Michelle did not believe him.

Outside the theater, Roan asked, "The performance was amazing. Why did it feel like almost no one came to watch?"

Marina glanced at him, smiled faintly, and looked away. Michelle wore an expression that said, How are you praising it when you weren't even awake?

Still, he explained, "There are many song and dance theaters in the Capital. Everyone goes to the one on Baker Street."

Michelle then lowered his voice mysteriously.

"It's rumored the owner and lead performer is the mistress of Marquess Brandon. Some people go because of the Marquess—not because they like musicals."

Roan was stunned. "…So the one we visited is empty now?"

"Yes," Michelle sighed. "No customers means no revenue. Maintaining such a large venue costs a fortune. It'll probably close soon. Honestly, I think their performances are not bad."

"That really is a pity," Roan said.

He might never hear that angelic voice again. And he didn't even get a clear look at her face due to the stage makeup.

For the rest of the morning, Michelle brought Roan to other noble leisure spots—proper, respectable places.

It broadened Roan's horizons…

…but also left him a little disappointed.

Half a day passed quickly.

Marina soon left for academy matters. Roan turned to Michelle with a smile. "Shall we continue exploring other fun places?"

Michelle blinked, confused. "We… already did."

"Everything?" Roan asked.

Michelle nodded. "Everything that nobles frequent."

Roan thought for a moment. "What about auction houses? The kind where money flows like water?"

Michelle finally understood and chuckled. "Auctions are held only by the Royal Family. Attendees are all powerful figures, and they happen only two or three times a year. The next one won't be soon. It depends on the Royal Family's announcement."

Only the Royal Family could host auctions.

Roan instantly understood the logic: all items must first pass through the Royal Family. If a priceless treasure appeared, they could immediately purchase it.

"I see. Then tomorrow, take me to the academy. But what about your classes? Am I delaying you?"

"It's fine, I already requested leave," Michelle smiled warmly. "And I want to see your magic talent as well. Even though you missed enrollment, I'm pretty good at magic. I can teach you."

That smile of his was dazzling—too dazzling.

Roan thought,

If he weren't a man, I would absolutely make him marry me—

Roan froze.

Cold sweat formed on his back.

WHAT AM I THINKING!?

No doubt.

It must be his trait influencing me.

Roan decided he needed to maintain a safe distance from Michelle in the future—for his sanity.

After confirming plans for tomorrow, the two parted. Michelle returned to the academy, and Roan continued exploring the Capital.

"Where should we go next?" Roan turned to the knights, maids, and coachman. "Give me some suggestions."

Everyone frowned in thought—until Sig suddenly raised his hand.

"Lord! How about the Adventurers' Association?"

Roan's eyes lit up. Right, that too!

"Let's go! To the Adventurers' Association!"
