After leaving the Adventurers' Association, Roen intentionally took several winding detours—only to confirm that no one was tailing him.

Whether it was due to the Association's strict rules or Gerald's deterrent presence, no one dared trouble him.

When Roen returned to the inn, he found Michelle listening to Jeff's story while Boss Reagan sighed beside him.

Roen approached quietly.

"We promised each other after graduation," Jeff said, voice trembling, "that we'd become adventurers and make our names known across the Carlo Kingdom. She was so pure and full of dreams back then… I can still remember her expression clearly."

He wiped his eyes, but the pain on his face didn't fade.

Reagan poured him another drink and said helplessly, "She's already a Princess now. What's the use of dwelling on this? It's been over ten years. She's probably forgotten everything you two said back then."

Michelle also offered a few comforting words.

"Don't insult Karaman!" Jeff slammed the table, but his voice trembled more from heartbreak than anger.

Even without hearing everything, Roen could piece the story together.

Jeff was in his thirties—so over a decade ago, he was around twenty.

The King he met this morning was sixty.

Which meant… a fifty-year-old king had married a twenty-year-old girl as a concubine.

A normal occurrence for royalty.

But cruel for someone like Jeff.

Roen looked at him with genuine sympathy.

At that moment, Michelle finally noticed Roen behind them.

"Roen! You're back! I was looking for you—Uncle Reagan said you went out early this morning."

He looked unusually excited, as if carrying good news.

Roen nodded lightly. "Perfect timing. I have some things to say as well."

"What is it? If there's anything I can help with, just say it," Michelle replied earnestly.

"It's nothing serious. I went to the Royal Palace today and completed the investiture ceremony."

Roen smiled. "I'll be returning to my Territory in a few days."

Michelle's face brightened.

"Congratulations, Roen. From today onward, you're officially a Baron!"

Even Reagan lifted his head and said solemnly, "Congratulations, Baron Arnold."

"Thank you."

Roen's eyes fell on Jeff.

"Mr. Jeff, I didn't mean to overhear your story, nor is there anything shameful in your feelings. In fact… I admire your persistence."

Jeff raised his head slowly, while Reagan and Michelle looked at Roen without interrupting.

"Baron," Jeff said softly, "a commoner like me hardly deserves your attention, let alone your praise."

Roen continued gently, "While I respect your sincerity… Boss Reagan is right. What you treasure most deeply may already be forgotten by the other person."

Jeff clenched his fists. "No… impossible."

Roen saw through it—the man was simply terrified of acknowledging reality.

Michelle attempted to interfere, but Reagan stopped him with a glance.

Roen spoke again, voice steady:

"Mr. Jeff, you've treated this relationship as the entirety of your life. We barely know each other, but I can see you once had a very big dream. A dream you truly wanted to achieve."

Jeff's breathing hitched.

In his youth, he had indeed been called a genius—he once dreamed of becoming a Great Magician.

"You've already lost more than ten years of precious time," Roen said.

"Are you willing to continue losing more?

Is this truly the life you want?"

Jeff said nothing.

His eyes trembled with conflict.

Roen didn't press further.

As an outsider, he had said enough.

Reagan gave Roen a grateful look, poured Jeff a glass of strong liquor, and set it beside him. Jeff didn't notice; he was lost in his own thoughts.

Michelle pulled Roen aside.

"Roen, you're incredible," Michelle whispered. "I'm sure Senior Jeff will think it through."

Roen chuckled. "I only said a few words."

"By the way," he added, "I need your help with something."

"Say it."

"Can you help me inquire about someone—from the Alchemy Department. Her name is Nancy."

"Nancy?" Michelle paused. "Senior Nancy is a genius in the Alchemy Department. Why are you asking about her?"

Roen didn't hide his intentions.

He told Michelle he wanted to invite Nancy to Arnold Territory.

Michelle exhaled deeply.

"Roen, since we're friends, I'll be honest."

Roen nodded. "Go ahead."

"You know the difference between magic potions and alchemy, right? Alchemy is the most unstable branch of magic. Materials consumed and results produced—none of it is fixed."

Roen's expression grew serious. This was new to him.

"With potions," Michelle explained, "as long as you follow the formula, the outcome is guaranteed."

"But alchemy? Everything is unknown. It involves material properties and certain mysterious rules. It's broad—too broad. An Alchemist consumes ten times the materials an ordinary potion master uses, for results that depend heavily on their insight and experience."

"Arnold Territory currently…" Michelle hesitated. "You won't be able to support an Alchemist. For your own good, I advise you not to recruit Senior Nancy."

Roen blinked.

Was alchemy really this… grand?

He asked, "Then can the Royal Noble Academy support an Alchemist's research?"

Michelle shook his head immediately.

"Not even close. That's why the Alchemy Department has the fewest students."

Roen's heart lifted instead of sinking.

If even nobles didn't bother recruiting Alchemists…

Then he had almost no competition.

Arnold Territory had the Black Valley Forest—and countless materials.

He smiled.

"It's fine. Please help me recruit Nancy."

Michelle could only sigh and agree. He planned to write to Viscount Gordon afterward—his father would surely send more materials if asked.

"Oh right," Roen said, "you still haven't told me why you came to find me."

Michelle suddenly snapped his fingers.

"Prince Belde—the Second Prince—is hosting a ball in the Royal Palace. Would you like to attend?"

Before Roen could answer, he added:

"All participants are heirs or collateral members of high-ranked noble families. Now that you're a Baron, this is a great opportunity to make connections."

Roen stared at him.

"You can get an invitation?"

Michelle smirked mysteriously.

"I have my ways. So—are you going?"

Roen fell silent.

He didn't care much for such occasions.

But Michelle had a point—Arnold Territory was too remote. If he could befriend even one influential noble, the Territory's development would skyrocket.

Under Michelle's hopeful gaze…

Roen slowly opened his mouth to answer
