Allyson's POV

My hands trembled as I searched through my purse for the key card, fingers fumbling against the leather. The plastic rectangle finally appeared, and I swiped it desperately across the scanner. The green light blinked, the lock clicked, and I pushed through the door.

Inside the sanctuary of my suite, I threw my weight against the door, pressing my back to the solid wood while my lungs fought for air. My pulse hammered against my throat as I reached for the deadbolt, determined to shut Michael out completely. I was finished being his boss, his employee, his plaything. Done with the hot and cold treatment that left me dizzy and aching.

The door suddenly stopped moving. My blood turned to ice as I glanced down and spotted his leather shoe wedged firmly in the gap.

My eyes traveled upward slowly until they collided with his burning stare.
