Chapter 245: How High Is the Possibility of Forming a Giant Thousand Handed Bodhisattva with Lightning Release?
"Did it thunder? But it's not raining."
Several villagers in the capital of the Land of Snow looked up at the sky in confusion. They had clearly heard the thunder. It had rolled across the entire city like a warning bell, yet there were no dark clouds overhead, and no rain in the air.
"Maybe it's dry lightning?" someone muttered, uncertain.
Inside the Snow Kage Building, the two shinobi who had blocked the entrance were already lying on the floor, lifeless.
Kenichi held Koyuki's hand as he stepped over their bodies and continued forward. Koyuki could not help glancing down. The two men who had tried to grab her were now charred black, their bodies still giving off a faint burnt smell.
A chill ran through her. She tightened her grip on Kenichi's hand, clinging to him as if that was the only solid thing left.
"Who are you?" A group of Hidden Snow shinobi rushed out, shouting with forced anger. "This is the Snow Kage Building!"
But the moment Kenichi walked past them, lightning roaring in one hand while he calmly held Koyuki with the other, every last one of them turned tail and fled.
What a joke.
They had just watched him kill people. His strength was terrifying. None of them wanted to be next.
Besides, Doto had only recently taken power. Expecting him to have a swarm of loyal followers willing to die for him was asking too much.
"Your Excellency, what is the meaning of this?"
With such a commotion, it would be ridiculous to claim Doto knew nothing. By the time Kenichi reached the second floor, Doto was already waiting, along with the three shinobi Kenichi had encountered earlier.
Doto stared at Kenichi with a gloomy expression. Naturally, he also noticed his little niece, Koyuki, being led by the hand.
When Doto's gaze landed on her, greed flickered in his eyes for an instant. Then he looked back at Kenichi, wary and cautious.
This man was dangerous.
"Lord Doto," Kenichi said calmly, "I'm only here to help this little girl reclaim what belongs to her."
He was not wearing a mask, and he was not dressed in Akatsuki clothing. Doto had no way to recognize him.
Kenichi was dealing with the employer directly this time. If his identity got out, it could cause unnecessary trouble later. So he had dressed plainly, making sure no one could tie him to anything else.
"What belongs to her?" Doto's face twisted. "This world belongs to the strong. I'm only taking what should be mine. What do you want? Money? Or the Great Secret Treasure?"
He looked disgusted, as if Kenichi were nothing more than another meddler trying to extort him.
Kenichi curled his lips.
He did not understand people like this. He had already come to their doorstep, killed his way in, and stood right in front of them. Did they seriously think he was here to bargain for money?
They talked too much. If they wanted to fight, then fight. Why waste breath.
Still, Doto and the three behind him were interesting opponents.
Their combat style suggested an Ice Release Bloodline Limit. The three shinobi directly used Ice Release techniques without hesitation. If possible, Kenichi wanted to collect blood samples after the battle to build a gene bank. Better yet, leaving one alive for experiments would be ideal.
Lightning patterns crawled across Kenichi's eyes as he focused.
Dealing with them was not hard. But if he wanted to end this cleanly, without any accidents, he needed to be serious. If he made a mistake in front of Koyuki, it would be embarrassing.
"Great Horned Whale!"
"Ice Bird Dance!"
Before Kenichi even moved, they attacked first.
A massive whale formed from ice burst through the structure of the Snow Kage Building and lunged toward him. For a moment, Kenichi could not help admiring it.
Ignoring everything else, the scene was genuinely beautiful.
A giant whale of pure ice was breathtaking. In his previous life, something like this could have won awards for spectacle alone.
Kenichi drew a deep breath.
Flames exploded from his mouth in a surging torrent, instantly swallowing the ice whale. The same wave of fire pushed forward, hammering toward Doto and Roga Nadare as well.
"Damn it!" Doto cursed through clenched teeth. "What kind of Fire Release is this?"
His mind spun with fury and disbelief.
How could his useless niece be this lucky? To find someone this strong, someone willing to stand up for her.
And those two shinobi he hired were not even here. Otherwise…
Before he could finish dealing with the overwhelming Fire Release, thick fog spread across the corridor.
Doto had no time to process what was happening.
A glowing ball of lightning flew in, then vanished the instant it entered the mist.
"Wait."
Kenichi stood outside the fog, listening to the screams inside, his expression turning thoughtful.
"If the First Hokage could construct a giant Thousand Hands Bodhisattva with Wood Release, then can I also form something massive with Lightning Release?"
The idea latched onto his mind and would not let go.
Kenichi created a Shadow Clone and had it stay with Koyuki, telling her to wait nearby. Then he turned away and began trying to shape Lightning Release into the form he wanted.
The fog slowly thinned, lightning scattering in short, snapping bursts.
When the mist finally cleared, Doto and Roga Nadare lay weakly on the floor, barely able to move. Despair filled Doto's eyes.
What was wrong with that monster outside?
This kind of strength was beyond reason.
And why would someone like that help his useless niece? Was it truly for the Great Secret Treasure?
Then Doto's pupils shrank.
A giant sword made of lightning had taken shape in front of him, suspended directly above their heads like a divine executioner's blade.
"It's a bit ugly," Kenichi sighed, looking up at his own creation, "but there's nothing to be done. Lightning Release is hard to stabilize into complex shapes."
He had wanted to create a lightning giant, but condensing that kind of structure was too difficult.
In the end, he could only make a sword.
And a crude one at that, the kind that would make even a dog shake its head in disgust.
Doto and Roga lay there trembling, their eyes squeezed shut as they waited for death.
Kenichi could not help smiling.
Then, as if remembering something amusing, he walked over to Doto and looked down at him. Doto glared back with stubborn, unwilling eyes.
"Actually," Kenichi said softly, "the Great Secret Treasure you want so badly is just a heater."
"It only exists to make some of this country's frozen land livable."
Doto's face turned ashen.
