Chapter 11 - Volume 10: The Siege of Shadows

– Volume 10: The Siege of Shadows

The battlefield was a chaos of fire, smoke, and magic. Shadows from the Void Sovereign twisted across the plains, consuming everything they touched. Human and demon soldiers fought side by side—not against each other, but to survive.

Elias and Azeryn stood at the forefront, their marks blazing in unison. "We have to hold the line," Elias shouted over the roar of collapsing terrain. "If the Sovereign reaches the Citadel, both our worlds are lost!"

Azeryn's dark wings unfurled, casting a shadow over the frontline. "Then we'll fight together. Now and always."

From the northern rift, tendrils of shadow surged like rivers of black flame. Soldiers fell under their strike, and even powerful mages were thrown aside like dolls.

Elias raised his arms, channeling the Crown of Realms. A golden-and-crimson barrier flared outward, absorbing the first wave. The impact rattled his body, but the energy strengthened him. "We can't just block it! We need to push it back!"

Azeryn nodded, unleashing a wave of dark fire that collided with his barrier. Together, the forces surged forward, blasting through the shadow tendrils.

On the battlefield, Rydell, the human commander, yelled orders to coordinate both sides. "Archers, aim for the shadow cores! Mages, focus on containment spells!"

The combined army slowly began to carve a path through the darkness. Yet, the Sovereign was far from defeated. Its voice echoed in Elias's mind:

"You think your fragile bonds can stop me? I will unmake your worlds."

Elias clenched his fists. "I don't care how powerful you are. You won't break us—not while we fight together!"

Azeryn's aura flared brighter than ever. "Elias… let's show it our strength!"

The two charged at the center of the shadow surge, their powers merging in a blinding explosion of golden flame and black fire. The energy ripped through the battlefield, scattering the Void Sovereign's minions and creating a small pocket of safety.

For the first time, the armies could breathe—and glimpse hope.

But above them, the Sovereign loomed taller, its form more terrifying than ever, and its eyes fixed squarely on Elias.

"You will pay… for defying me," it hissed.

Elias and Azeryn exchanged a glance. Both knew the true battle was just beginning.
