Chapter 1 - Kysen Vanestrea

A man in his twenties sat on a gaming chair looking straight at the computer in front of him.

[NEW BOSS]

[Rank:???]

A strange entity appeared in the game after he finally defeated the supposedly final boss of the game.

The strange entity on the screen had the shape of a person, but it was pure black and looked extremely glitchy.

Edward first thought of it as a bug. But no matter what he did, his computer wouldn't leave the game.

The character he was using also couldn't move, as if something was stopping him from reaching the ending of the story.

---

[ERROR!]

[Given the circumstances an unknown entity tried stopping the host from finishing the game's story!!!]

[Since the host is the first player to reach 99% of the story completion the host will now be transferred to complete the game!!!]

---

Staring at the system's panel that was alarmed by the entity, he felt goosebumps all over his body.

"Huh, is this some type of bug...?"

"The game Heavenly Principles of The Academy... There's no one other than me that has reached this far?"

Edward watched in puzzlement as the strange entity walked toward his character in the game.

Within the blink of an eye, his character died.

"WHAT THE F**K?!" Edward cried out.

His character, whom he had nurtured to the rank of Eleventh-Tier capable of manipulating time and perceiving things at the speed of light died so easily.

"No... This is definitely a bug right...?"

In fact, he didn't manage to see what the strange entity had done since his character was beheaded before he could react.

However after his character died, it didn't display 'Game Over.'

Even more terrifyingly, the strange entity slowly lifted its head. Sharp white teeth emerged from the entity forming an eerie smile as if it could see him.

Edward gulped, the previous anger he had felt vanished, fear started assaulting his mind, making him sweat profusely.

Before he knew it, his back was completely drenched.

Slowly, a black hand began stretching outward, towards his neck. His fingers refused to respond, his breathing became shallow.

His body felt numb, and slowly he felt an intense dizziness washed over him.

He jolted awake, drenched in sweat and gasping for air.

Haaa...

His vision cleared to reveal a luxurious room smooth tiled floor, polished walls, and a large red bed.

He staggered toward a mirror.

A pale face with ordinary dark eyes and messy black hair stared back from the mirror. His frame was shockingly thin, so weak and gaunt he looked like a malnourished sapling.

It was definitely an unfamiliar face.

Abruptly realizing he was not in his original body a tide of emotions started plaguing his mind.

Is this some type of dream...?

He gave himself a shallow laugh, in denial on what's happening to him.

However a sudden pain shot forward at his skull directly at his brain.

It was sharp, as if something were ripping his skull apart. Memories he didn't own flooded his mind, forcing him to clutch his head.

It's when he just realized that he had transmigrated into the game.

'Heavenly Principles of The Academy'

The strange entity began to surface in his mind.

As the knowledge continues appearing in his mind he realized the name and status of the body he has, its name was Kysen Vanestrea. Which he had never known that existed in the original story.

According to the knowledge itself in his mind, this body belonged to a minor noble which is the Violet Family.

Thankfully, this wasn't some third-rate villain destined to die within the first few chapters of the story.

He muttered while sighing in relief.

Wait… who am I?

Edward felt conflicted and perplexed. The emotions and personality of Kysen and his own were mixing, making it hard to think clearly.

He pondered for a moment. After a few minutes he had made up his mind.

I guess from now on, I am Kysen Vanestrea of the Violet Family. Though deep inside, I am still Edward from Earth.

Just as the headache began fading and the conflict within him subsided, the door creaked open.

A gorgeous girl with beautiful features seemingly at the same age as him, her neatly folded black hair dark as ink, paired with her crimson eyes, pale milky skin, she wore a maid outfit approached him without any expression.

She bore an aloof and elegant demeanor.

Within him, the original Kysen's emotions started to stir up inside him, it was delight, happiness and excitement.

From what he could recall she was Sophia Celestine.

However deep inside him, putting aside Kysen's stirring emotions. There was clearly something unnervingly familiar about her presence.

Somehow she reminded him of an early-game boss the Blossoming Spider—the boss that had given him so much trouble, killing his character over and over again during the first arc.

The girl's existence was definitely not ordinary. The resemblance might just be a hunch, but he couldn't ignore it.

Her soft voice snapped him out of his daze.

"Master, your food is ready."

Kysen subconsciously blinked before answering.

"Just put it there. I'll eat later." He spoke in a weak tone still drenched with sweat.

"Is there... something wrong?"

She asked, tilting her head slightly. Seeing him deathly pale and drenched with sweat made her worried.

Kysen lightly rubbed his still aching temples.

"Uh... Maybe I'm just a little tired."

His newly inherited memories included fragments about her. Only now did he realize that some of his knowledge from playing the game felt foggy especially the events of Arc Three and Arc Five.

Thankfully, his memories of Earth and the people there were unaffected.

Recalling the original Kysen's memories, he realized that she had initially been planned to be created as an assassin to kill people.

But the original Kysen had refused.

Since they were both sixteen, having the same age as her. He insisted that she should be treated properly and equally just like him and the others.

Eventually his father just agreed, then the original Kysen treated her with care that she had never received, and in return she grew quite deeply attached.

"So…" Kysen swallowed, trying to steady his voice. "When will the academy ceremony take place?"

Her crimson eyes blinked in mild surprise.

"One month from now. Is there a problem?"

Kysen fell silent for a moment, holding a conversation with someone was not at all his specialty.

Especially not with a beautiful charming girl like her. Even back on earth, simply glancing at a girl is already awkward to him.

She studied him with clear confusion, noticing how strangely he was acting.

Kysen coughed lightly.

"You may… leave for now I have some things to do."

He needed time. One month wasn't much, but he would have to make it work.

Sophia's expression didn't change, but a faint disappointment flickered in her eyes. Something only the original Kysen's instinct could sense.

She nodded reluctantly and left the room.

Kysen exhaled in relief.

"System." As he said the fragmented system showed before him.

His eyes lit up feeling a sense of hope.

Spell Replication?

He had thought the system would disappear after the entity shattered it.

Just how did that thing destroy a system players weren't even supposed to touch?

Even more peculiar he had no class.

An unknown class was odd. With his current knowledge excluding whatever was sealed he was certain no character possessed an 'Unknown' class.

Although the system was incomplete, the Spell Replication feature caught his attention.

He tapped its description.

{Spell Replication} {System Feature}

{Description:The Host can replicate any spell at a glance, regardless of rank.}

Looking at the description satisfied him. This alone gave him a huge advantage. Back while he was playing the game, this system feature never appeared. But he wouldn't mind having it.

Anyways... I really need to fix this stick-like new body, I feel weak simply by just existing...

He glanced at the food Sophia had brought simple milk and fragrant garlic bread and began eating.

He ate greedily, without the manners expected of a noble.

Once finished, he let out a self-deprecating laugh.

Does transmigration make someone this hungry?

He next stepped outside his room to walk around the mansion and familiarize himself with his surroundings.

Taking a deep breath, he felt the sunlight differently.

Glancing toward the back of the mansion he found the lush flat land behind to be a beautiful sight.

After walking around, the training grounds caught his attention.

He watched the people practicing when the system panel flickered.

[Clear Sight] — Learn this spell? {Yes/No}

[Fireball] — Learn this spell? {Yes/No}

Kysen's heart burned with anticipation. With such an overpowered system feature, things in the game would have been several times easier.

He didn't hesitate and pressed yes to both.

As soon as he did, information about the two spells, flooded his mind.

After a few seconds it was engraved in his mind on how to chant the two spells.

Still, he wasn't sure if he could properly cast them. He wasn't a Magic Knight nor a Mage.

Clear Sight was used by Magic Knights, while Fireball belonged to Mage-type classes.

He began to ponder.

The affinity check would only happen in two or three months, if he remembered correctly.

I should just test how strong it is once I use it.

This game's power system really gives me a lot of headaches… He groaned internally.

He needed magic to cast spells, and mana to use magic. In Kysen's case, his mana capacity was terrible. Not only that, his mana circulation was slow.

I will need to fix this within a month...

He muttered inwardly, his expression stiff.
